Way better to have companions. Most of the time they draw almost all the aggro from enemies leaving you free to pick them off.

Finally got to play a few hours last night. Nothing like downloading new 24 GB at 2.7 MB/s due to steam.

This is my first fallout game, I like the AP and VATS concepts. Makes for a little more strategy than just holding the trigger down.

Now scrounging for supplies in town picking up everything I see. I think I have enough to coffee cups and coffee pots to open up my own diner.

Power Armor + deathclaw + minigun = frantic firefight while hoping my dog can distract the deathclaw long enough for me to finish it off

This game has a terrible user score on metacritic (5.5). Most of the reviews talk about boring dialogue, graphics that are not much better than fallout 3, bugs, lack of choice, your actions don't really impact anything, and the game doesn't feel finished. Is this true? I probably won't pick this game up at all.

It was after that fight that I realized dog bugged out back at the gas station or something because he wasn't with me. I managed to take down the deathclaw but then died to bandits that came back out after the fight. Decided to call it a night after that since it was 330ish lol

Haha that you take user reviews from whiny, entitled kids seriously. People who do reviews for a living and don't immediately give a game a 2/10 because the facial animations aren't perfectly synced up with voice dialogue, are averaging around a 9/10. Is it a perfect game? No. Is it a really fun game that you will enjoy if you've liked previous fallout or ES games before? Yes.

If you buy the game expecting Witcher 3 level graphics then you're going to be disappointed. To say the graphics "aren't much better" than FO3 is insane to me, I personally think the game looks great but I'm comparing it to FO3 and F:NV. The only thing I will agree on is that I'm not a big fan of the new dialogue options. I enjoyed being able to read the whole sentence as opposed to just getting the "yes, no, sarcastic, angry" options that you have now.

I'm loving the game so far and I'm not that far into it yet.

I was starting to wonder myself. If he really is he's probably already bought Fallout just like he complained for months about battlefield 4 and how he would never buy it, then bought it, and complained some more.

IMO gamers are the worst. Nobody complains more than this group. Reading their comments on sites like ign is worse than reading you tube comments. "OMG THE FRAME RATE DROPPED TO 0 FOR .02 SECONDS. THIS GAME IS UNPLAYABLE."

I enjoy the game and typically would agree that gamers are pretty much the worst... But there's no reason Bethesda should get a pass for launching a buggy piece of crap when other companies get obliterated for doing the same just because "bethesda is always like that".

I have an i5 4690k, 16gb ram, and a 980ti. I'm only playing the game at 1080p, 60fps. The graphics on this game, while not the worst ever, are hardly pushing the envelope. There shouldn't be so much as a hiccup when I play. Yet the game constantly suffered from massive frame rate drops (not like 2 fps, more like the game came to a stuttering halt whenever i started moving around outside). I had to toy around with different settings for a few hours before I came to a playable solution. Of course, now I have some other issue where the characters mouths move twice as fast as they speak and the audio for their second line will start playing before the audio of the first line is even done. Then I hit the terminal glitch. Joy.

So I turned it off for the night because I was tired of dealing with that ****. Is the game fun? Yes. But frankly, my PC should be able to bruteforce its way through whatever issues Bethesda's **** engine is throwing at it. The fact that it can't (and that I'm not the only one with a high end rig experiencing similar issues) is more than enough reason to be upset.

A 5 fps drop I can handle. The problems I've experienced have been much more severe than that.

the only issue I had last night on XboxOne was my iPhone6+ does not fit in my pip boy.

No big deal because I would rather use my iPad since it is much larger and easier to read.

Graphics are just fine on my rig after some tweaking. Everything's on ultra and it looks great.

As far as negatives:

• Diamond City radio has almost the exact same playlist as Galaxy News Radio from FO3 without the entertaining dj, Annoying. The classical as noted is excellent however.
• There are a few graphical bugs, but nothing gamebreaking so far.
• Dogmeat's pathing AI isn't great. He's underfoot and in the way in tight quarters.

It's definitely more challenging than FO3 or NV. There seems to be very little ammo (aside from .38) and taking a few "Radiant" missions for the Minutemen quickly left me in melee only mode. I'd love to play the game in stealth/sniper mode, but with so little .308 or hell even .45 I can't see it as being an effective playstyle in the early going. I've been out of 10mm forever it seems.

After trying to make a run for Diamond City (and quickly getting splattered) I've come to get a good guess at how BIG this game is. I'll be playing this thing for years.

Anyone else find themselves trying to use their nonexistent witcher senses? :p

I've got a similar rig but only a GTX 970, and I've not had those problems. Did you get the FO4 driver from Nvidia?

Love it so far...haven't had any issues with weapon or ammo shortages yet. I did spend quite a bit of time working on my settlement once I figured out how to work with it

I got my first legendary pretty early on by completing the brotherhood of steel (think that's what they're called) mission. Pretty good power to help you out in the early levels.

Yeah. I'm really not sure what the issue is. I've seen some discussion that the new drivers installed a Nvidia streaming service that is auto running and causing a major drop in performance. I'm going to disable that tonight and hopefully resolve my issues.

The only thing that I've noticed so far is that when you put a new mod on, it takes the other one off and stores it in your inventory. Took me forever to realize what weighed so much.

I also read that you can take the mods off of picked up weapons and transfer them to applicable weapons of your own too. Something to keep in mind / try out to practice good resource management.

Every modded weapon I've picked doesn't have removable mods. However, if you build another basic mod for it you can replace it. Just have to determine if it's worth the cost of the replacement mod.

Yep. Built a huge place at Red rocket but then realized it's potential is very limited so I'm waiting for a different place with water to go all in. Don't want to use sanctuary so I completely cleaned the place out. Gutted every house and broke down every tree. Ended up with about 2500 wood.

You can break down trees? I'm assuming you do that through the workbench?

Where is the best location to build your settlement? I'm not a big fan of sanctuary.

Somewhere with water. I've only discovered the first two places so far. You want water because the big water purification things must be placed in water. You don't want to have to put a bunch of those little water things when your settlement gets big.

The drivein is the WORST place to build a settlement
