I don't even like going back 6 to 8 MINUTES. I couldn't do hours.

Good to know I can go ahead and knock out the Bunker Hill mission. I was afraid to start that one before finishing quests for other factions

Based on the lack of response from Bethesda on the boards, I had a feeling this was a bug that wasn't going to be solved anytime soon. There were quite a few large threads about it. Didn't feel like waiting.

While I lost that much, I think I was able to get back to that point in a few hours. Skipped a lot of dialogue and knew where to go. Just missed out on a free extra levels.

The thing I liked about the previous games was the ability to get factions on your side and have that affect the final showdown or whatever and that changes the final credits.

With this game you have to pick one major faction and no matter which one you choose the end credits are the same. I feel like everything I do has no major change on the world at large.

Right? What is more baffling is that they actually did do this right once.. (Morrowind)...since then, there has been a chipping away of player agency and any sense of effecting the world at all through your decisions.

(Easy with the spoilers! Some folks haven't beat the game yet!)

Yup, I waltz right through and even had the game freeze on me. Oh Bethesda.

While a great game, one I enjoyed, I think Bethesda needs to go back to the drawing board with their formula.

I've played this game 6 times now. (Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim, Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas, Fallout 4).

They tried to shake things up a bit with the base building, and was a clever way to use "junk", but I don't know...didn't really work for me.

Agreed. It seems like there's definitely a lack of quests when compared to Skyrim. I'm wondering if they plan to add more later, or if they plan to rely on player made content. Some of the ones that came out for Skyrim were extremely impressive; almost the size of paid DLC.

There's a lot of places that looked like a setup for a quest, but it goes nowhere. The nuclear silo in the wastelands is a good example. Its massive and unique, but it's only got standard ghouls and a core. Also it would be fun to go truly bad and join the Raiders or Gunners. Could do without the dismembered corpses though.

They also need to polish the radio beacon system. Some way to home in on the source. I've spent an hour or more searching for a signal; then you find it, and it's a dead body or two with a Stimpak and ammo.

The terminals add a lot to exploring. Some of the backstories to the buildings are interesting.
Definitely a lack of quests to me. Everyone has been hyping the amount of content and I'm sitting here like, "Where?". And the recurring grab this and bring it here quests don't count.

Skyrim upon release may have been the perfect game.

After starting to play ESO I have made a conclusion.

Bethesda relies on modding community to fix a lot of their issues. Bethesda has always been a rather small company in terms of the blockbusters it puts out. I actually believe these days that they deliberately let things some thing slide in development, knowing full well that modders will address them in their own dime and time. Things like certain bugs and UI improvements and testing. Content for sure. Have yall seen the mods available for Oblivion or Skyrim or the other Fallouts? It's staggering. Some are better made than actual official DLCs I have bought in the past. Bethesda knows this. So to keep their costs down I suspect that they just don't address a lot of smaller bugs or graphical fixes or certain content, knowing modders will do it all for them.

Right?! All I heard from the internet folks was that they played the game well north of 100 hours...My thought was...How?!

I did every side quest I came across, cleared a fair amount of buildings and still only managed to get 37 hours out of it.

I honestly thought that the twist of the game was going to be that the player was a new version of a synth.

Might want to watch (or edit) comments like that last one. I'd rather not read about endings or twists or things that didnt materialize without some sort of spoiler tag. Thanks!

Guys this game has been out for a month and half plus, at some point we should just be able to talk about the story and not worry about someone getting offended about spoilers. You can still build on settlements after the main campaign finishes just FYI.

I wasn't offended. But we've pointed out potential spoilers for 35 pages now. If we're going to start speaking freely, that's fine, but let's make it known that that's the plan going forward. Some of us are a few days from completion, and it would suck now to come all this way only to read about it first.

A month plus doesn't mean much for people who can't play every day. It was a simple request. But if we're free to discuss anything from this point on, it's cool... The rest of us will check out until we're finished. Problem solved.

I went on vacation and have almost 2 days played in game. Don't think I'm anywhere near the end, but no idea really. After reading your post I'm glad I've stayed off this thread since vacation!

Are ya talking about my post?! There is nothing spoiler in that. It was a theory that turned out to be wrong.

If you are talking about others, well, yeah...there are some spoilers....

I will refrain from talking about spoilers until I see some others freely discuss them.

Don't want to ruin the experience for others...especially when there really are only a few plot points even worth discussing.

Out of curiosity, has anyone that has played Witcher 3 and Fallout 4 like Fallout 4 better? If so, why?

I don't want to set your expectations too high, but it was my personal game of the year. Pretty much think "Game of Thrones" (the video game). Story and characters are great. Combat is serviceable (though a bit clunky), Atmosphere is fantastic.

Its 30 bucks right now

If you have some time, I'd highly suggest picking it up.

Witcher 3 is amazing. I really like FO4, but story and plot-wise, Witcher 3 blows FO4 out of the water IMO

Bringing this thread back to life.

What's y'all's favorite weapon? Mine is a legendary two-shot assault rifle. The dude brings down everything in just a couple shots.

I recently got the spray n pray off a caravan dealer and love it to mow down some ghouls!

It's a tie for me. I got the spray and pray as a drop, which is fun to fire off at the feet of a group of ghouls. One burst, and you're looking at a floor of legless ghouls clawing at the ground.

The other is a rail gun that does double damage if the target is at full health. Nothing survives the first shot with that one.

I'm in the same boat with the Gauss rifle. Find one that does double damage at full health or the mod that offers 25% damage bonus and you pretty much have the end all weapon.

That being said my favorite weapon is a 10mm silenced pistol with the 25% bonus in damage with additional limb damage. Couple that with a few perks and it's a one hit kill machine. I love stealthily crawling around places blowing heads off people.

I love my 50 suppressed night vision sniper rifle, so much fun headshotting super mutants with that, and the 308 chambered spec'd out combat rifle is pretty fun too.

Justice. Enough damage to take care of the low level guys quickly, and the stagger keeps the high level guys from hitting me.

Staggering Minigun. Chance on hit to stagger enemy. Because it is a minigun, there are so many bullets the guys just convulse while I shoot them.

I can take out any single legendary without it even getting close to me.

If I can sneak close enough Kremvhs Tooth.

On another note, I was able to fix the issue I was having after I cleared the prydwen. Involved reviving char via PC console. Only lost an hour or two of play time, not too bad but at least I'm not bugged anymore.

Don't laugh but I have over 4 days worth of playing and am level 39 from doing mostly side quests. I have yet to see Nick V after rescuing him. Right now I'm in the middle of escorting Buddy at a snails pace to the castle.

I'm at the point where it is telling me to delete old saves to make room for more, despite the external hard drive on my xbone.

I keep at side missions for the BOS scribe and dewsh but have not seen anything more substantial from that faction in a while. Will that wait until the main plot advances to a certain point?
RAT90

It seems like the faction side missions are endless until you advance the story.

I've been avoiding the main quest to do side stuff. If I DO finish the main quest, I can keep playing......right?

Yes you can keep playing but you are still part of the faction you joined.

As if Bethesda would force you to buy DLC to resurrect your character that dies at the end of the main quest...
