I tried Mojo Tortilla Company recently during one of their discount days. Their rice is really strange; I noticed that when a pea fell out of my taco I thought it was some sort of cross-contamination from another ingredient bin, but no, their Mexican rice has peas in it. It didn't taste like any rice I had in a taco place before.

I'll have to go back to Mojo Tortilla Co. to make a final commitment but it feels like the rice situation is trying to hard to be different.

Their puffy tacos pork carnitas are really good. Overall one of my favorite taco places in BCS.

It's not unheard of to put peas or diced carrots in Mexican rice. My Mexican-born grandmother did it.

Does anyone know of any Mexican restaurants in BCS that actually put hominy in their menudo? La Perlita, Don Chente, and El Sol do not. I know it's a regional thing but menudo just seems weird without hominy.

Juany and Lucy's, the place in the gas station at 1403 Briarcrest. It's as good as I've had here. Even Mi Tierra near me, which I adore, omits the hominy. If you discover others that add it in please report back.

The family we are teamed with is from SA and have a ton of experience. They are super SA authentic. Peas in rice, hotdog slices in the charro, and hominy in the menudo.

Other possibilities might be La Carreta (they used to but I haven't been since they moved), and Mi Tierra (I will ask during tomorrows breakfast taco run).

We've just moved to B/CS and I haven't read this whole thread, but we tried Champions Pizza yesterday and it was really good NY Style Pizza and they have it it by the slice.

Welcome to the area. We moved from Allen about 3 years ago and don't regret a thing. Monitor this thread and the annual comings and goings thread and you will be up to date on most things pertinent. If you need some recommendations on other food establishments, feel free to reach out via DM.

You need to try Mr. G's in downtown Bryan. Similar to Champion but better! We do like Champion as well.

Had some friends tell us about it a few months ago so we had them cater a party recently. The owners delivered a trunk full of their very large pizzas to the venue. Great people and the pizza tasted as if it was fresh out of the oven after a 25 min drive.
