AJ is bad but Fred is usually pretty objective about the Ags.

I like their show because they don't take themselves too seriously and have fun. Plus, a significant portion of their show is less sportsy and more entertainment which I appreciate.

Unfortunately they are the only sports talk station in the Beaumont/Lake Charles area. They completely lost me when the LHN came out. A caller questioned their objectivity in college football now that their boss, ESPN, had a stake in the success of the longhorn football team. Both guys came unglued and acted like the caller had no right to question them and the caller had just called them something worse than Hitler. Very unprofessional response and now I only listen to them when I have to work east.

I can't believe so many people like Charlie. He may have a deep knowledge of sports, but I cannot stand listening to the guy.

I love Palillo and everyone I know that loves sports and listens to Houston radio pretty much feels the same. I don't mind arrogance when it's deserved.

This is part of what made his midday show great. This a sports talk show on radio; its nice for them to not take themselves so seriously all the time.

I don't listen to Houston sports talk anymore but did regularly from 98-05. Moved to DFW in 05 and started listening to The Ticket and actually still stream their morning show just for the entertainment even though I've been back in Houston for almost 4 years. Never could get back in a groove of anyone locally.

What fascinates me about Houston sports talk is there's some kind of change with new folks except for what I call the "original" 610 guys of Lance, Granato, and Charlie. I guess Pendergrast could be one of those guys since he was on Rome all the time. The Ticket is basically what 610 would have been to Houston had that core group stayed together. It's about constant and chemistry. Love or hate them those hosts become your friends and you tune in.

Houston sports talk just doesn't have that. Every so often changes get made and it seems like it stays in the same funk of no one dominating because the talent is too thin and spread out. Those original 610 guys are steady but can't seem to find a real groove.

Whatever happened to Rome's lackey that came to town hoping to make it big? Travis something or other if I remember correctly. Didn't he go back to Cali? Did he just disappear?

Travis Rogers is still on 1560 from 1100-1300. I still enjoy his show. It was the best midday option, but I might have to give Granato a shot. Not a big fan of Sean Salisbury, but John makes me laugh.

I didn't know 1560 was still a thing. Salisbury is the worst I've heard on the radio. Complete dog****.

I don't mind Travis Rogers. I didn't know he was still on. Nice change of pace, light sports talk, heavy entertainment.

I hated Salisbury too before and still don't much care for him but paired with Granato it works, just like everyone else.

Yes I listen during football season but really only for the guests they have on. I bounce around when it goes to commercials. I used to listen to CP and I do much enjoy his knowledge and vocabulary. He speaks very well and intelligently. He is caller driven radio so the topic of conversation is allover the place which gets frustrating at times. 790 is also a weak signal this time of year on the NW side of town.

Tuned into Lance and Matt this morning on the way into work and it was awful.

You guys called it...Matt was playing some stupid game with a wheel spinning while Lance was impersonating Pablo Prigioni.

It was pretty brutal

Anyone catch Herman on 610 this morning with Lopez? Heard Herman made an ass of himself being all bent out of shape at Lopez's reporting of the Kyle Allen recruiting violation.

Herman makes himself look like an idiot. He literally sounds like any run of the mill Houston sports radio caller.

I don't think Herman was upset about a potential recruiting violation, but upset that he had to explain to a different QB recruit why they were talking to Allen, when they had told that recruit that they were not talking to Allen.

After listening to that, Herman sounds like he won't be able to handle a big school, he'll be too bothered and upset what people say about him.

Agree. I miss the Blitz too. Was a good show. I occasionally listen to John and Lance in the morning but I've pretty much given up on Houston sports radio or even houston radio in general. Get much more out of a podcast or just listening to a good playlist on Spotify.

I think John and Lance are fantastic and keep fans engaged talking about every team in Houston from the Astros all the way down to the Coogs a fair amount. Their banter is quite good too. Problem with all of 610's shows are they have to focus on the Texans primarily. Problem with all of 790's shows is they have to focus on this bad Rockets team in the winter since they are home for the Rockets.

Used to listen to 610 quite a bit but never listen to AM at all anymore. I think Pendergast is their best talent but that's just me.

I typically listen to Dan Patrick or Spotify a podcast now.

In a world with endless podcast and streaming music content, why anyone chooses to listen to the radio is beyond me. Yall must really like low t commercials.
