I had told my 9 year old we typically get snow after a hurricane,
I thought about that last night; December 2017 is the last bit of snow in my photo roll. Anyone know if that was true for other years?

2020 was an insane hurricane season. Close calls in Houston from Laura and Delta. I think we got part of Beta. Then we had icepocalypse in 2021.

Had to go back and look but the Christmas Eve snow that hit a few areas in 2004, we had Hurricane Ivan smack Florida, do a giant loop and come in close to LA / TX border as a TD. So I guess technically that one counts.

Don't bother. Some folks just refuse to get excited about something cool happening and want to be a Debbie downer.

On my 3rd amaretto snow cone. Good stuff!

Switched to some coffee liqueur, coconut, and vanilla.

Now gonna hit the key lime. Family would be $100 in at Bahama Bucks by now, not to mention the adult varieties.

I'm surprised how many people are at Miller Outdoor right now on the news. I guess there are more younger families living around there now than in my memory.

The enjoyment my kids got out of running around in the snow this morning and being able to share in their joy and wonderment for a little while means this was the polar (yes, pun intended) opposite of a "nothingburger."

We were new parents at the time, so it's fog of war in my memory. But didn't we get snow with that Feb 2021 storm?

It did snow then, not much but enough to cover the ground.

High res models show the bulk of the action offshore or at the immediate coast. Gonna be a lot of unhappy folks stuck at home with their disappointed crotch goblins tomorrow.

What a colossal fail of a post…

LOL. It's a fail post when both the HRRR and NAM both showed that trend for several runs and both got it wrong?

Yes because very few people were touting them as believable, yet you took them as gospel…

After those model runs came out, Lindner, SCW, and NWS all doubled down on their WSW for Houston and surrounding areas, yet you (and a few others) started thumping your chests about it being a "nothing burger"…

Just admit you were dead wrong…

Sure, I was wrong. I trust Lindner more than most, especially after Harvey. Unfortunately, we sure don't have one of him up here.

Bunch of yahoos out here were wishcasting for 1-2 inches up until the middle of the night last night when it was clear nothing had happened and wasn't going to happen.

Doesn't matter what models you relied on, you were wrong. When you say people are going to be sitting at home with disappointed kids, and instead, they are posting videos of their kids sledding and building snowmen, you failed. And if you make any similar posts about drought or wildfires in the Austin area, I might have to come find you.

Our street melted and dried faster than I expected....

Yard is still holding snow strong, though.

Seeing as how all this snow is melting and tomorrow morning the temp will be about 20 F I'd guess pretty treacherous.

I'm thinking roads will be worse tomorrow than they are today.

There will be patches of ice for sure. Mainly at corners and places where water normally ponds. So, there's quite a lot of possibilities of morons doing stupid things.

If they melt and drain we are fine.

If they melt and re freeze it will be noon tomorrow and start thaw again.

I stand corrected by saying it would be "ok".

If the roads all melt and dry before temps plummet this evening, probably not bad. If they don't - it's going to be worse than today IMO. I imagine bridges will be slower to thaw and won't have time to dry out.
