But to play nice, I'll add that he's being named new HC at Kansas State, because current HC is retiring.

Chad Morris OC years at Tulsa, Clemson, and that one year at Auburn in '20 were legit. I don't know the guy at all, but I would think that there are some Texas high school coaches on this board that can give us the straight scoop on what happened to him. I am genuinely curious why just one year at Allen HS?

A toss out of a wildcat set is not a trick play. It was very poorly blocked and executed. RB should have just eaten it and taken the short loss. At no point, was the ball supposed to be thrown.

yeah, a snap to the RB who then tries to toss it to the QB who is split out wide is not a trick play. The play was designed to do just that.

2 guys that probably wont get looks but I think should:

Gordon Sammis at UConn. They are 14th in ppg in all of FBS. 17th in YPG. Those have gone up each of the 3 years he's been there. Was under a defensive minded HC there with Jim Mora, so he's likely used to having control of the offense. Their defense wasn't that great this year, so main reason for back to back 9 win seasons is the offense. Hard to be successful at UConn.

Mike Shanahan at Indiana. He's been with Cignetti going all the way back to IUP in 2016, and has been his OC since 2021. I'm sure Cignetti is the main reason for their offenses being great, but I would gladly take the guy who's learned under him for almost a decade.

Someone that knows not the players and the offense, and has time already under the head coach, at a time when we have an immediate need to perform.

Doesn't seem like a hard choice to me.
Edit:, although I see there won't be a change until after the playoff. That might mean it's I'm time to look at options if someone on the current staff wasn't already being prepared for the role.

Jason Beck would be an awesome hire. He's done some great things at Utah despite having bad receivers and a QB who can't accurately throw the ball more than 10 yards down the field. He has a lot of Utah ties though, so he might want to stay put even if A&M is offering him more money.

Put up 44 on Florida State, 30+ on several good defenses
Massive jump in total offense, scoring, and yards/play

You give him:
A&M's OL
A&M's WRs
A&M's RB room
Marcel Reed's legs
SEC-caliber talent everywhere

…and he can easily deliver a top-20 offense immediately.

That's why Elko should be circling him. Buster Faulkner should be Elko's first call.

He tried to run the football program like a college football program (coaches that didn't teach, or even pretend to teach) and it just wouldn't work, lost first district game in 10 years, not to mention his scheme was a shift from what had been done for years successfully under Martin, Westerberg, and Gambill. Too much change too quickly with what was seen as a mercenary.
