Hard pass on anyone with an Air Raid or similar type scheme. We need a physical offense & mentality.

Klein is a good OC - we've moved the ball & won both running & throwing, shown some creativity/variation with sets (Power T in short yardage, 2 & 3 TE's, two RB's, etc.), and balanced the workload with RB's & WR's. His shortcomings have been limited to playcalling in specific situations.

This. He has been a really good OC for us but then he has those WTF?!? moments that makes you shake your head.

What's the explanation of zero QB depth and failure to develop beyond QB1? We struggled with all 3 backups

I'll add on to this, I would assume he is responsible for evaluating recruits/transfers as well as recruiting that position. That seems to be a complete failure.

Kinne would be my choice but we'd lose Wiggins. And that's why he's getting promoted. Elko doesn't want to lose Wiggins.

Quite a gamble.
lol. You're basing Wiggins on what? Elko will hire someone elite as playcaller this time.

I know, LOL, right?!?!?

This I might go with. Also, whoever it is must agree to never, ever throw a 25 yard pass when the line of scrimmage is 3rd & 2. If so, his ass is grass and I'll be the lawn mower.

Like maybe throwing 25 yards downfield when the play is 3rd & 2?

Napier.

He can be on his way here immediately. He has played our offense twice so he's loosely familiar. He is a guy who left Saban and Saban hired him back, which speaks volumes, imo.

You are reaching here. We have not seen any QB run the offense with the starters besides O'Neill with Utah St and he looked pretty good.

A toss out of a wildcat set is not a trick play. It was very poorly blocked and executed. RB should have just eaten it and taken the short loss. At no point, was the ball supposed to be thrown.

12/20 with 171 yards and 2 TDs and 2 INTS in limited action is not terrible. Again, you are reaching.

My short list would probably have little Briles on it (feel dirty saying that) plus Andy Kotelnicki since he's available. Maybe Garrett Riley is looking to jump from the sinking Clemson ship?

A tier down, I wouldn't mind at least kicking the tires on Jordan Davis and Casey Woods. They're still a bit green for my liking, plus I assume Davis is firmly attached to Eric Morris.

Youre wishing if you can say there was any decent performance against Samford.

It doesn't matter if you weren't running all starters. Samford is one of the worst teams we have ever played. They had a guy swinging a towel with the Corps on the bench.

My personal preference would be to go hire a known quantity, but I expected to hear Wiggins name pop up because I've read that he might get a look as HC at some smaller schools and I do think he plays a massive part in our passing game's revival.

I do find it funny how passionately and strong some of the opinions are on here though.

I don't think any of our backups have looked good.

I also don't know that I really pin that on the OC given that he was probably trying to give Reed all the reps he possibly good since this was his first year as a true, known starter coming in.

Watch some of Reeds throws lately and tell me why you want to divert reps from him to a backup?

I am sorry you don't understand football and showing respect for an inferior opponent. At no point, once the backups were in, did we try and really move the football. The game was over at halftime and we ran the ball and threw short routes to keep the clock running.

yeah, a snap to the RB who then tries to toss it to the QB who is split out wide is not a trick play. The play was designed to do just that.

OK Vince Lombardi <rolleyes>

Regardless with you taking issue with me calling it a trick play, it was definitely a WTF head scratching play call
