I got downvoted to hell on SECRant.com for taking this attitude. Do any of you remember the sting of losing? Well, multiply that by 150% and you get 8-5. I'll take this season over 8-5 every year for the rest of my life if those are the options.

Be grateful for a great season that we should've gone 8-4 in, people. Elko's just getting started.

I honestly don't know if it is much of a step forward. Dump 3 of our scrubs and replace them with 3 of the good ones (so we have 4 scrub SEC games and 4 tough ones). Based on what I saw against Texas and Miami, I think we would have finished 8-4 or 9-3 against that schedule. Not bad but totally unremarkable.
winning the "easy" games is a step forward. Old A&M would have lost two of those.

Currently I am getting downvoted about the 3-2 ( 56-35) based on blue stars on my posts and the reply that agrees with SEC shorts

This. Went 1-2 vs teams that were near our talent level. No bueno.

Near our talent level? Per 247 A&M went 9-2 vs top 25 talent rosters. If you want to limit it to top 15 A&M went 4-2. Don't let people fool you into thinking LSU, Florida , etc aren't talented.

It's not really worth it.

Some will do everything they can to try to downplay our success.

It's really a weird trait. I can't tell if it's just being pathetic, or being so weak they need to shield themselves from having any kind of optimism about our program. But it's weird either way

We beat LSU at home at night and the stadium was empty before the final whistle. This was a winning season. Especially since we're a volleyball school now.

Some battle low emotional reactions whilst others, such as yourself, suffer from low IQ postings. Life is a struggle sometimes cupcake.

Prior to 11/28, 11-0 felt pretty good.

After 12/20, 11-2 felt like 0-2.

It's the way we lost in the two losses that makes it feel like 8-5. Just completely **** the bed on a big stage. Would have been different if we played well and just lost in a great game.

This whole thing shows how there are two types of A&M fans, the Little Picture and the Big Picture Fan.

The Little Picture fan is driven by emotion and nostalgia and just want to go to a game in person with their kid and see a win with them and that one game is all that matters. They don't care about the state of the program or the Big Picture. For them 11 wins with no trophies, no bragging rights and no titles is still worth celebrating and hanging a banner for because it's better than our usual mediocrity. They are the sort of Aggie that says dumb things like "We can be 1-11 as long as the 1 is against tu!"

The Big Picture fan is more concerned with broader trends and higher goals in the program than any individual game. For them a huge win against a top ranked opponent upset is cool but doesn't matter when you still finish the season losing to a bunch of unranked nobodies to go 8-4. Likewise 11-2 is good but when you end it on crapping the bed on the national stage the second there is any expectations and end the season with no titles, bragging rights or trophies then you still haven't accomplished your goals anymore than if you were 8-4.

The big picture fan that you seem to favor is nothing more than miserable human being who is more worried about the ribbing they are going to take from others than anything else. They live vicariously through rich 18-22 yo's playing a game. Their entire life's worth is wrapped up in a game played by people who don't know they exist. Without the validation of their peers, they sink to the depths of depression and become miserable human beings. I can't imagine anyone wanting to ever spend time with the people in group 2.

You bled all off season about 8-4, continued to bleed through every game until it was clear the team was way better than you could have ever imagined or trolled.

You are the epitome of a loser. You have zero credibility because all you do is move goalposts or hide when you can't troll your way out of it. You're a mental midget. Maybe it's the mentality of people like you that leads to a national perception that A&M can't get over the hump. You're a cancer to this board.

Merry Christmas.

Yep. Dude couldn't wait for us to lose.

Written like someone who needs to ditch the maroon blinders.

No one wants to see the outcome we had but anyone who watched the last two games and comes away thinking "wasn't that great" should be ignored when it comes to football.

Not at all bleeder

My response is very specific to what was stated by the OP and the guy I responded. It appears critical thinking is not your cup of tea.

Now if you want to discuss specifically our playoff game. I can do that on another thread and I have done just that on other threads so how about you go to those threads instead of deflecting this specific thread topic.

Guys like you are a waste of time in life. You just look for things to cry about. FYI. No one likes being around people like you.

Hence why they come here with their little girl emotional outbursts. They have nothing else in life. A sad existence.

If you didn't have any affiliation with A&M, and saw how the fans are reacting to the best season in over 30 years and first ever playoff appearance, would you want to associate with that as a coach or player? We can whine about how it's because the fans and admin don't demand greatness, but to outsiders you just come off as delusional weirdos who they don't want to associate with.

Actually, if you have no affiliation with A&M, you think we were overrated all season and when we finally played someone that was good we showed we were overrated.

- Media pundits spouted this
- Fans on social media posted this
- Hell, even the selection committee stated this when they bumped us below teams we actually were ahead of in their metrics.

Only Aggies think otherwise. We moaned when they disrespected us. How the hell does Tech get ahead of us. Well, looks like they were right.

If you were around during the Slocum years this is very familiar. Jacmie had put the entire SWC in the tank and we mopped the floor with the weaklings. But, when it was time to put up, we mostly lost to good teams.

We were favored in every game but one this year and lost 2. We were favored in every game but one last year and lost 5. Hope we figure this out because our easy SEC schedules are over.

Anyone that defines a successful season as one that is simply "fun" isn't serious about the game. Which is fine. Nothing wrong with that. However, don't simply discount those who want more as being pissy.

You have your definitions wrong.

The big picture fan realizes this is Year 2 and that we had a very good year. Disappointing finish but that's true of every team but 1. 11-2 is a good year no matter when the losses happen.

The people that can't see this are the same losers that would ***** if we lost the NC game this season.

Feels worse. We got to 11-2 and yet have nothing to show for it. Didn't beat sip. Got embarrassed at CFP. Confirmed every single accusation about our schedule.

We didn't confirm anything other than we beat 1 top 15 team and lost to two more with both losses coming after our OC had been interviewing for and taken his dream job.

Tech has beaten 1 top 15 team (No, Utah is not top 15 no matter what the rankings say, as Utah beat literally nobody). Oregon has beaten ZERO. Ole Miss has beaten 1.

Tceh beat or pounded BYU twice. Beat 3 top 25 teams and all their wins were by 22+ points. I hate the Sand Fleas more than any righteous man but they deserve more respect.

Lord or mighty, if Tceh wins a natty the Zoo will crash and burn the servers. This season doesn't have a clear alpha dominant team. Let's hope an SEC team wins it all. This was our season and we blew it. Thanks Klein.

Ohhhh BYU?

Let's see who their best wins were..

Wow. Truly a team deserving of their rank. Those close wins over Arizona..

and Utah

really drive home their lofty rankings.

It's a whole entire conference of 3* talent from teams discarded into the trash pile beating each other. Someone ends up on top and we give them the best ranking of the 1 loss teams. If anyone respected BYU, they would have been in the playoffs. Clearly the committee didn't think their 11-1 record was real. And it wasn't. All of these teams played a G6 schedule against G6 talent.

11-2 is a really good season for any team not named Bama or OSU.

For A&M it's an outstanding season and in year 2 of a new coach.

I would have been happier had Elko not expressed any satisfaction until the season was over. Seems like the team got a little overconfident for beating the lower half of the SEC.

Regardless, fun season!

I don't know any real Ags who are walking away from this season feeling good. Everyone seems to like Elko alright but the overall sentiment is that the best course of action is to temper expectations.
This is not a national championship caliber program.
