That glosses over a whole bunch of ****ty managment decisions by klinny. For many games, the players didnt even know what positions or formation they were going to play. They would gather on their own to decide playing style.

Klinnsman divided the locker room.

I agree, our players should go to Europe. But, thats not a thought unique to klinnsman. He was a crappy manager and a worse leader.

So to sum up today's routine match:

What a bizarre world cup final. France had a better tournament, but Croatia looked way better today, so naturally France wins 4-2 with 1 goal that shouldn't have been, 2 goals where the Croatia keeper didn't seem to know what was going on, yet somehow France had the worst goalkeeping moment of the tournament. Oh and VAR was applied properly to correct a call, but because it couldn't be applied to the France free kick, ended up making the game less fair than it would've been without.

Oh and the band ***** Riot may have been the people running on to the field, and will probably be found in the Moskva River.

Did I miss anything?

I know one truth, dont embarrass russia in Putin's presence in front of a billion people. It wont end well.

Did you read all the articles about klinnsman and his management? Klinnsman killed it, arena buried it.


The entitled American players couldn't handle his style. Most people took offense when he was telling players to go play in Europe to get the type of training they need and to play against the competition that they would see in international play. Klinsmann was right.
He was right about a lot of things, but also managed many aspects of the team rather poorly from all accounts.
He still should have gone down with the ship

Agreed that we should have either kept him for a bit or let him go earlier. Timing for that was very poor.

CONCACAF first round will start next spring, based in previous schedule US will play their first game around the end of next year.

Doubt that...more like 2019 or early 2020 at the latest.

the 2018 qualifying started in 2015 for the AFC and also for CAF. So they might start by late 2019 or early 2020 for the winter schedule.

And CONCACAF started in Nov 2016 so likely late 2020 although with the winter schedule it could be pushed back to early 2021

UEFA started in late 2016 also.

Really good game. Love Croatia and a little sad they didn't get a win today.

Will be interesting to see what lessons US federation takes from this World Cup and how they get back on the wagon.

Complaining about the past (Klinsmann, Arena) is understandable. Focusing on our future is far more important.

For those who were able to watch the T&T disaster, think about how low we have sunk.

Before we start thinking about qualifying about the 2020 WC, we need to start all over from the bottom rethinking about and reestablishing our entire program, culture, etc.

We may need to hire the Croatian officials. They made it to the WC Finals from a country of only 4 million people.

No, as there was some talk of possible expansion to 48 in 2022, nothing is confirmed.

It appears that idea was put to rest as the Qataris said it was unfeasible, so no major changes should occur.

Lamar Hunt Jr was only Dallas sports radio before the tourney started and talked about how Canada/Mexico/USA all auto qualifying for 2026 won't matter because the tourney will be 48 teams. He said that was confirmed

Wouldn't work, Croatia isn't working with entitled, pampered children. Who have to buy $300 kits with matching bags while forking over anywhere from $1,000-$5,000+ annually for mediocre coaching. The style of play you see out of the Croats comes from a bunch of hungry dogs. American footballers, as a whole, aren't hungry, and our style of play reflects that. Klinnsman, Arena, Bradley, whoever is next and likely to qualify for 2022, doesn't matter. Expectations should be moderated to account for how soft we are as a soccer country.
