Also an interesting observation on Premier League pregame today if this does get into the legal weeds at all, talking about how a number of executives of these clubs were involved on Premier League subcommittees and thus privy to confidential information that they could have then shared with the Super League as it was being developed.

So, I got in late on this (meaning about 30 seconds after everyone else) but did these teams really think the existing powers and governments would ever allow this?

I know we throw around the term "weapons grade delusion" quite a bit but it absolutely applies here.

It's hard to know the answer to that question because the info was leaked and media groups like Sky went scorched earth before anything was official. The Super League 12 were then playing damage control immediately instead of having any control over the narrative.

For 12 owners of the largest clubs in Europe, what an incredibly terrible miscalculation Super League was. The fact that they did not understand how opposed to this everyone in soccer would be just shows the sheer idiocy of the plan.

The super league announcement isn't going to change the opinions of anyone, nothing has changed. They're still looked at as villains who bleed the clubs for money for other **** - like a stadium in Los Angeles.

As a lifelong Gooner this fiasco does not change my opinion of Kroenke at all.

Super League officially announced they are suspending their operations for now.

This has been a fun 48 hours guys. Amazing drama to follow. Even though the three teams that threatened to leave are still in the Champions League.... I still don't want Neymar to win

I do think that there is massive risk in swapping one billionaire for another. Most of those guys got rich by being very good businessmen and throwing endless money at an investment is typically not in their nature. For every Abramovich that throws cash around, you'll have 20 guys who are buying clubs to make them money like Kroenke or the Glazers
