Tourney starts on Wednesday for the USWNT. By far the toughest group with three teams ranked in FIFA's top 10.

No team has ever won the World Cup and then the following Olympics. Perhaps the extra year off will change that.

I think USWNT are looking to avenge 2016 and come out hot.

Sweden has the deserved 1-0 lead. The US is getting entirely pulled apart. Sweden in excellent form.

This could easily be 2 or 3-0 after the first 30 minutes.

One of the worst halves of soccer I have ever seen from the WNT. Credit to Sweden who has dominated all over the park.

Definitely one of the worst halves of this cycle. Sweden came out with an excellent plan and executed.

As lopsided as it was, US also had two opportunities they should have capitalized on, the header early by Morgan and the header late by Lavelle. Just goes to show how much work Sweden is putting in and how fragile it still is.

We'll see if they can keep up the pressure.

Ouch. That was entirely unexpected. Not that we lost, as that was always a possibility, but rather the way we were completely dismantled. Sweden is a top-5 team in the world but I've never seen someone dominate us like they did for most of the match.

If anyone has our number, it's Sweden. The U.S. has now given up 7 goals under Vlatko. 6 of those were from Sweden (in 3 matches). Remember, Sweden knocked us out at Rio in 2016.

The midfield trio of Mewis, Lavelle, and Horan was awful. But Morgan, Press, and Heath weren't much better. Our back line wasn't very good but Sweden's goals were all well earned.

The next match against New Zealand is pretty much a must-win now. We'll likely need at least a win and a draw in the next 2 matches just to get out of the group.

I didn't get a chance to watch, when I woke up this morning around 4:15 it was HT and we were down 1-0. That's the unfortunate thing about having the games in Tokyo, going to be pretty difficult to catch many games. Watching the USWNT in the Olympics and World Cup has been good to help my wife get into soccer. Feels like the last hurrah for this group as it stands, many are just too far up there in age. They are going to have to dig deep to get gold medals.

Is there a standard re-air place for these games? I didn't want to get up to watch, then checked the Peacock app when I woke up and it said the replay was tomorrow at 5:00am which made no sense, so I went ahead and read the score.

For the future games I'd love to be able to just wake up and watch. I don't have cable so I can't record.

If you're wanting to watch today's match, don't. It was that bad.

Part of me feels bad, because there's another part of me that is kinda glad that the women's team was defeated, and in such a decisive way.

Just watched the replay on NBCSN.

Yikes. That was painful. It could have been worse. There was so much standing around by Team USA when defending. Everyone back on their heels, stuck in place. The first goal off the corner...it was like there was a 1 second delay between Sweden's movement and USA's response.

Make it out of the group stage and go get 'em next time.

I honestly wonder if today was one of those demarcation points. The US can finish third in the group and advance (though right now even that is far from guaranteed), but if you look at what they have, the talent that carried them the last decade is aging out, the world is getting better, and we don't have the same talent coming up to replace it. Not that they will fall off the map by any stretch, but our age of dominance may be about over.

Which younger players are better than those currently on the roster?

Well today was not good, in any way, shape or form. But let's hold off on calling one loss the death of the team.

Let's see how the tournament plays out before we make such proclomations.
