Absolutely not. Naeher has done very well but she is still way shakier than Solo or Scurry and has less to do because the current back line lay their bodies on the line every shot to keep Naeher from even having to make saves. Two of the three PK saves today were horribly taken by the Dutch.

Again, she's done way better than I expected when she was named the starter but I still wouldn't put her close to Solo.
Solo might have more talent, but does her resume have more big saves then Naeher?

It felt like Naeher saved our ass against England in the last World Cup and the Netherlands tonight.

Dude it's Canada. The only sport they care about is hockey. I wouldn't be saying **** if we had a euro or South American team as the opponent.

I'm going to guess it was something else other than offside.

Announcers said they called a handball on Press when it was playing in a dangerous manner.

I haven't found an official explanation but I've watched 5 times now and there are 3 Dutch players including Martens offside when the other Dutch player heads the ball. My only guess was they were trying to determine if Naeher's attempt on the ball "reset" the play somehow. Although even at the point Naeher seems to handle the ball, Martens advances from an offside position.

Weird play for sure but I think they got it right.

At the moment of the touch/header, the Dutch player who eventually scored was in an offside position. A save doesn't reset offside.

Thanks for clarifying. I didn't think that was the case but twitter kept mentioning it and I was too lazy to lookup the rulebook .

Thank you for the clarification. Couldn't figure it out watching it because everyone was on side when the kick was taken. Also didn't know that the keeper touch didn't "reset".

Canada had zero attacking interest in the second half but were rescued by VAR. A completely undeserving victor but that's the sport sometimes.

That wasn't a foul on Davidson. The Canadian player made contact on her leg and hip and threw her off balance. That led to the errant swing by Davidson. If that contact isn't there it's a weird foul. But the contact was there. If you are going to use VAR you have to see that. It was pretty obvious that there was contact.

Having said that they didn't play well. There was no flow or real continuity of play until late. And Canada didn't play any better.

The only player who consistently played well all tournament was Ertz.

Despite that, we came very close to reaching the gold medal match.

I don't think this team has been as much fun to watch, and even in this game they left a lot of goals on the table.

There is no way in hell that is a PK.

Vlatko started his US campaign with more success than any previous WNT coach. Then came the Olympics. Some fans have already seen enough of him.

I think the biggest problem was that we brought two number 9s (Morgan and Lloyd) to the tournament who ended up being awful. Unfortunately, I would have made the same roster choice going into the tournament. They both just laid an egg.

Lloyd for sure. She's been no more effective than anyone else, but she absolutely cares more. She's the only one I trust right now to go all out and try to put this team on her back.

Hopefully this wakes the program up. They protected the aging players over the program, and it finally came back to bite them. But now we have no idea what talent we have behind them because it's been the Lloyd Morgan Rapinoe victory tour for the last few years.

What a BS way to lose. That was no penalty. Davidson was ahead of her, reared back to clear, playing nothing but the ball, then the Canadian player left her feet to try and make a play and went down from the contact of Davidson playing the ball. No foul..

We played like crap all tourney but didn't deserve to go out like that.

I do think it was fair to give the vets one last go at it. I would have done the same. Despite their struggles, they will still play for a medal and had a shot at gold taken away by a ridiculous VAR decision.

Going forward these are some names to loo out for:
