Gooners are going to make another fake holiday named for the day Spurs get relegated.

Kepa with the Onanaesque blunder and Cherki with ball tricks that would make even Nani shake his head. Who says the League Cup doesn't have the juice?

Insane that they've pissed away half the international break before announcing this. If you were gonna do it, it should've been a week ago, with a replacement signed (or internal interim named) immediately.

Social media is buzzing with reports that Roberto De Zerbi is close to signing a five-year contract to manage the club immediately.

Spurs fans likely aren't happy, but I think this could be a really good gamble.

They're not a traditional relegation candidate. Getting a Dyche or someone else just to get them out of trouble would've likely made these players even more demoralized. And then even if that did work out, waiting for Poch to be done with USMNT might mean waiting until mid-July. That was never gonna be a good idea, IMO despite all the dreaming from their fans.

De Zerbi is one of the biggest names out there right now who doesn't have a job and I think the hire will be a boost to morale.

Now having said all that - I fully expect they'll mess it up and the deal will fall through.

Several teams are in the running for that 4th/5th spot this year. Should be fun to watch.

How big is next Sunday's game at the Etihad between City and Arsenal? Feels like winner probably takes the title.

Edit: For clarity, although City is 6 points behind, I think their game in hand is Palace at the Etihad, which Palace is safe and therefore in a dead part of their schedule. So if City were to win, I'm practically handing them the Palace points.

As an Arsenal fan, its probably over already. Even if we get a draw next weekend, I don't trust this team with 5 games left. We have a manager who can't adjust his tactics and players who cannot remember how to do simple things anymore. The offense and midfield has been a revolving door due to injuries and every single one of them is on poor form.

I've followed this club for 30 years and this one may actually make me tap out for awhile. Its not worth the heartache

Well, if you guys did get a draw, I think you'd just about have enough to get the title anyway. The most City could get in that case would be 83 points, and you would have 71 already. The run in would be

Newcastle at home (dangerous team on paper that has not performed this year, but you are home)
Fulham home (their record against the current Top 6 is I believe 1-2-6, so not good)(edit: miscounted: 1-2-7)
West Ham Away (tough time to play teams fighting relegation, but still, they are in the relegation battle for a reason)
Burnley home (will probably be already officially relegated by then)
Palace away (only playing as a spoiler; see above)

I mean, 12 points there is doable. And that's giving City everything (which they are killers at the end of a season).

Cuti Romero out 5-8 weeks with kneed injury. Puts his world cup in doubt.

Updated Opta numbers still show an 87% chance of an Arsenal title… with the expected numbers showing both teams will get 12 more points each. That jibes with the sentiment that a draw ought to be enough… however the more I think about it, 12 points seems reasonable for Arsenal, but IMO seems low for City given that they have 7 games left.

Also a massive factor that the numbers can't crunch is the fact that Arsenal are also still in Champions League and likely to advance to the semis. Thats 3 more high intensity games that Arsenal have to deal with in the middle of the week, tiring their players and giving less time to prep for the next EPL opponent.

I think the City game is definitely a "must not lose" for Arsenal, and even a draw will pile on a ton of pressure down the stretch as they try to manage two elite competitions.

In the hypothetical world we are talking about, we are assuming City gets 3 points for the game in hand to make everything even on games. Sorry if that wasn't clear, I tried to say that upfront. And when I say a draw should be enough, I mean that it would be around 60-65% chance that the 3 point advantage after a draw and a City win for the game in hand would be enough. 3 points isn't much, but it would still be significant with effectively only 5 games left.

Yeah I wasn't necessarily disagreeing (in fact I'm one of those stars). It does seem like a draw ought to be enough, but man, it doesn't feel like it will be.

I will say, even though I'm probably grasping for hope. Man City also has draws against two teams fighting for relegation in the last month so they've shown to struggle against low block teams as well. Its when teams play wide open against them that they tend to feast

The thing about City is… it seems like once April starts, they don't lose and rarely draw in the last two months. Unless they clinch the title maybe and play the second team, but… even then.

I blame all the cheating.
