Forget about whether they should or shouldn't, there is not a ref in the world who is going to give a 2nd yellow in that situation. And Bruno is banking on that.

Bruno often plays in the dark arts. That's his thing.

Yep I'm still waiting for a ref to give a 2nd yellow for "delay of game". Only one I've still ever seen to this day was the RvP one in the CL semi's against Barcelona.

Salah trying to get the ball from him should have been a yellow. Liverpool scored, it is United's ball. Trying to take it from him should have resulted in a yellow.

Salah wasted more time fighting for the ball than if he would've just let Bruno take it back to the center circle. It's not Liverpool's kick, and Bruno takes kickoffs for United.

That's really funny, but seriously, I've always wondered why the they don't just have the 4th official (or sideline AR if there's going to be subs) take a new ball out and spot it in the center immediately after a goal.

This isn't a pickup game in Sudan where you only own one ball… just get another one out there. Problem solved.

Additionally, if no ref is going to enforce a second yellow for time wasting, then it's a stupid rule (or perhaps more specifically, a stupid punishment) and we need something else. Increasingly I wish there was a sin-bin like hockey where there weren't suspension implications.

All that said - I agree that if anyone deserved a card in this situation, it was probably Salah. He didn't give Bruno enough time to truly waste time yet. He jumped on him immediately. 5-10 more secs of walking like a geriatric to the center, you might start to have a case that Bruno deserved time wasting. We all know that he wanted to time waste, but IMO it hadn't happened just yet, and as mentioned he did nothing else wrong there.

I swear Bruno went down between 6-8 times yesterday for phantom eye pokes. It was getting ridiculous towards the end. Anytime a Liverpool player got a foot away from him he was hitting the ground with hands to the face.

Many years ago at a major tourney (I think it was a EURO but I'm not certain) they tried implementing a local rule that attempted to stop this. They said it was a mandatory yellow to the scoring team if they attempted to take the ball out of the net after a goal. Because this is the result. You end up with idiocy. Needless to say it didn't last.

Dre was right. This is 100% the dark arts by Bruno. He's doing this to elicit a response from Salah who has absolutely no business in that net getting that ball and no business trying to take it from Bruno. It's not like it's time wasting at the professional level. Every goal is checked by VAR, for missed offside, for missed fouls, etc. all that takes time.

It's not a card for time wasting and you can't really card Salah. Well you can but no one would understand why you did and it would make it 20 times worse. Just separate them, tell Salah to get his ass back on his side of the field and tell Bruno to stop being a ********.

Now at the amateur level it's different. This is how fights start.
