GS should have won game 1. We should have won this game. The series is probably where it should be at 2-2.

Fat blob bogut puts Danny green in an arm bar and they gain possession of the ball. Duncan breathes on curry and he gets an and 1. Pathetic.

Spurs go 26% from 3 and something like 3-20 in the second half. Mostly pretty good shots, too. 56% from the free throw line, left 11 points there. Missed a potential gamewinner. Didn't get to take the second potential gamewinner they should have had. The Spurs gameplan worked right up until the point where they couldn't hit shots.

Besides the other obvious screw ups I really think pop brought Timmy back in too early in the 4th. We jumped out too a quick 8 point lead. Why not stick with the lineup that was working.

I can't decide whether the Spurs getting in extra games before the next series is a bad thing. The way they have played the past month makes me think it will only help, but if they shoot any worse than they did today on wide open looks and free throws, they might lose to a hobbled 7 seed in the next two games.

Golden State shouldn't even be able to stay within 20 of the Spurs. They (spurs) are playing unbelievably bad basketball right now, because it's not like the Warriors are playing all that great outside of game 1.

Oh, and Bogut had 4 fouls in his first ~10 minutes, then managed to collect about 10 more boards in 17 more minutes without committing a foul in spite of continuing to play the exact same way. Right. Shades of Kevin Love vs. the Ags in the tournament.

I was wondering about that, too. Small ball was working.

Thompson and Curry only had 32 combined points on 12-28 shooting. David Lee didn't play. The Spurs had 7 to 1 blocks and 11 to 18 turnover advantages. And Golden State only shot 38%.

And the Spurs still lost by double digits

I never wanted to play the Warriors; they are a very good team. Thompson and Curry are great. Jack and Landry are the kind of players that really frustrate the Spurs. People forget how good Bogut is when he's healthy, and Barnes is solid as well. These guys are young, but they are also very good.

Really surprised at some of the reasons for the loss on here. How about the fact that this "championship" team of veterans, poised to slam Golden State in 4 or 5 games shot 16% in the final 10 minutes of the game?

and it wasn't no "closed lid ah well it wasnt our game" type games (see: every reason in the past 15 years for a spurs loss). I could shoot better than that.

poor execution, sloppy spacing, forced shots, and poor coaching. this led to the inability to close, and the 50/50 balls went to the team who wanted it more. and the other team's best player literally had to take painkiller injections to play, Popovich made no adjustments to take advantage of that, and their second best player is riding the pine.

if the spurs were everything the fans on this board think they are, there's no way the should've lost this game, much less be facing a must win against the wall in this series now.

Bull****...they missed some wide open looks that were set up from execution...they just didn't finish.

You are looking a little too deep into this...it's the playoffs.

Couldn't get rebounds plus missed free throws blew it in regulation and we just ran out of gas in the OT.

Parker was obviously limited in his ability to go to the rim because there wasn't much of it tonight compared to game 3. Mostly jump shots.

Not blaming the game on the refs because I don't think that was why the Spurs lost but they missed obvious calls out there including two huge out of bounds calls that should have gone to the Spurs. Including the last possession of the 4th where the Spurs should have had the last shot of the game. Who knows, maybe we score that possession and the game is over.

Anyway, I'm upset because the Spurs should have won this game but if you would have told me after game 2 that we would have stolen one up in Oakland then I would have taken it. We did our job and took HCA back. Now just need to take care of business on Tuesday.

Do you really think that because you strung a few paragraphs together that it somehow gives credibility to anything you have to say? Your ****ty analysis isn't worth reading even if you knew what you were talking about. Oh and stop acting like its just a must win for the spurs and their backs are up against the wall, it's an important game for both teams.

Choked today. Should have won, and we had no business winning game 1. I'll take it. It's a 3-game series now. Take care of business at home now.

Just hit our open shots and we win.

It's hard to blame defense right now. Yes, rebounding has certainly been an issue but if the Spurs would have hit their open looks today then we'd of taken it. Plenty of opportunities.

Neither team should be over reacting.

It is a 3-game series now with 2 games in SA.

Spurs need to hit free throws and rebound better. Not sure why, but it seems like the last couple games the Spurs have been crappy at the line.

GSW need to make hoops.

Simplebay's right about a lot of things. We played incredibly sloppy basketball at times, which let them chop into our lead. We missed a lot of shots for no apparent reason.

I do wish, however, that the refs would correctly call fouls on Bogut. He got his fourth foul 2 minutes into the third quarter. At that point, you'd think he'd change his style of play. But he didn't. He kept extending his knees on screens, bumping players off theirs on D, holding Parker as he'd drive past, etc. And yet, the officials treated him differently from that point forward. It was weird. Props to him for being a dominant force in the paint, because we downright struggle to score (even when he's not fouling) on drives. He's good at neutralizing Timmy. All that being said, he should have fouled out early in the third. He got away with a ton.

Nevertheless, the Spurs absolutely gave this game away. It was a pitiful performance to close the game out. And there were so many little things throughout the game we did poorly. We played bad defense, got out of position, and then chased shooters, which meant that our boxing out was awful. Further, we didn't seem to have anyone attacking the basketball. It looked like we were trying zone rebounding, but they were going over us to get it (not necessarily fouling) and we'd sit back and let them. In game 5, that's the main key. If we'd held them to one opportunity more frequently, we'd have had a 20 point lead at halftime. I bet we'd have shot better too, because we had to keep playing defense for 3-4 possessions in a row sometimes.

1st Edit: Simplebay's last post gets a lot of things right. As a general rule, he's more clueless about basketball than my dog, who only knows that the ball tastes good to him (although actually, I bet simplebay knows that, too).
2nd: Another thing that has to improve is Timmy's aggressiveness. Bogut pushes him around in the paint. Timmy takes wayyy too many fadeaways. He needs to get through Bogut and attack the rim better. Or at least not fade quite as much.

It was a pretty quick turnaround with the 12:30 west coast start and the quickest turnaround we will see for the remainder of the playoffs so it isn't that surprising that we looked pretty tired at times out there. Hopefully we look fresher at home tomorrow night.

Can we not crap the bed tonight and get a win?

I don't disagree, but this game wasn't telling of any Spurs demise, as he was hinting at...

This same "championship" veteran team also erased a 16 point deficit in the last four minutes of Game 1 to win...that is how basketball goes...

And the whole "back against the wall" crap is so cliche it is just funny...Game 5 is important for both teams, not just one...

I would give anything to not have to listen to Chris Webber be a golden state homer all night. Drives me crazy.
