So can KJ fight for rotation minutes? If he plays like tonight we should be trading Marco for nothing ASAP.
Yeah I definitely agree that Keldon will be the one to make an impact the quickest. He might even get some meaningful minutes this year if he continues to play at this high level.Ag Natural said:
Luka has the raw talent and skill that makes you drool. The Spurs havent had a guy like this since forever.
And Keldon showed today that his shot is very nice. His catch and shoot numbers in college were actually really strong. If he keeps this up I could see him playing a role very soon. If he could play the 3 then it's a virtual lock.
Agreed on both comments.jteagle said:Yeah I definitely agree that Keldon will be the one to make an impact the quickest. He might even get some meaningful minutes this year if he continues to play at this high level.Ag Natural said:

So many banging the pot that the draft picks should have been swapped - Luka at 29, Keldon at 19. And while Keldon will likely impact the team sooner, there are guys like Keldon that can be available where the Spurs pick in most years of the draft. Not too many guys with the skills and size Luka has that are available where the Spurs pick.
Way too early overreaction - both guys are going to be very important contributors to the Spurs. Luka isn't showing as much as the other two rookies, but what he does show is quick feet offensively, fantastic offensive skills, a good looking shot, and an unteachable 6'11" solid frame that just needs some more strength to hold up.
I'm entirely too excited about the young guys on this roster right now. Guys we currently have that seem like they will play a big role going forward:
Dejounte (22)
Lonnie (20)
Jakob (23)
Luka (19)
Keldon (19)
Derrick (24)
Bryn - probably not a core guy but he made a solid leap last year (25)
Of that group, every single guy with the exception of Bryn and maybe Poeltl seem to have high ceilings and are still getting better.
Throw in the unknowns of Quinn (22) and Metu (22) and what they could be, this is a fun time to be a Spurs fan. We haven't been this young in a while, and every single one of these young guys have some really intriguing skills.

So Boogie is having a really hard time finding a team right now and won't be getting a very big contract. I was very much against him when I thought he was gonna take up all or most of the MLE, but I would be all for offering the remaining ~$3 mill we have left of the MLE and seeing if he'll bite. Low cost with potential high reward. We'd have to either waive (Metu) or trade someone (Marco) to clear up a roster spot, but imo it'd be worth it.

I would be a little worried about his locker room presence. He behaved fairly well last year as he had to fall in line with GSW and their vets. But I'm not sure how he'd do with a team full of young guys. If he could be behave I would be all for it.

It would be worth a shot. Apparently he a Demar are pretty good friends, plus there's LA, Rudy, and Patty that are all vets that could help him. Plus if he does end up being a problem, you cut him and move on because he's on such a cheap deal.

It's funny you say that. Chams has just reported that DeMar (among several other stars) has been in communication with him. Interesting.

Woj just said there isn't even a team that wants to give Cousins the MLE like GSW did last year. I think if the Spurs offer him an exception and cut Metu, he signs with us.

Beat you to it, DeSoup.

I have watched both of the summer league games and I haven't seen Metu yet. Did I miss him or is he hurt? And personally I would like to see Quinndary get a 2 way contract.Guitarsoup said:
We have 15 players on guaranteed contracts right now plus Eubanks on two-way, but DeQuinndary isn't included in that count. So if DeQuinn makes DeSpurs, we already have to cut Metu and eat his salary.
