To be honest, the Spurs are pretty fortunate to be at 5-4 with the way they've been playing. They could have easily given up their first three games of the season. The defense, again, is atrocious.
I just don't know what our team is.
Aldridge goes for 39 points one night and 3 the next getting barely any touches yesterday. I get that he was being played differently, but man if you go to him in the block and know he will be doubled it at least gives you an opportunity to get the defense unbalanced.
For what DeMar brings to us offensively, he essentially gives it right back up with turnovers and crappy defense.
Rudy Gay has a good game one night, then he looks disinterested the next, while displaying a Javale McGee-like basketball IQ.
This is the most consistent Patty Mills has been in a long time, but it doesn't matter because Jakob and Belinelli have been non-existent off of the bench.
DJ is still getting back into the swing of things and is still up and down.
Pop has stripped Walker of all confidence and it looks like Lonnie will be in his own head for the rest of the season with what little playing time he gets.
White's been fine off the bench.
We went from being a top 3 point shooting to barely average.
What are we?
On an unrelated note, in his first two games with the Austin Spurs, Keldon Johnson is averaging 25 its, 8 rbs, 4 assists, and 1 steal. I really think he'd be useful for this Spurs team. Dude has a motor and just doesn't quit, unlike most of the players on our roster. He appears to be really good around the basket and has an ultra quick second hop. This team desperately needs a defender. Wouldn't mind seeing him get thrown into the fire if our bad play continues.
