Durant is 34 and has missed 150 games over the last three seasons and this is what Phoenix gave for him:

unprotected picks from the Suns in 2023, 2025, 2027, and 2029
pick swap option in 2028

Mikal Bridges 26yo - 17/4/4 on 46/39 shooting this year; 51/39 shooting over the past 3 seasons
Cam Johnson 26yo - 13/4 on 46/43/85 shooting the past two seasons
Jae Crowder - assume gets flipped somewhere

That's a great haul.

I hate that the Nets got better with this.

Brooklyn in line to pay $50 million in lux tax this year with nada to show for it.

Guess who just got handed a pile of first rounders.

Boston's offer for Jakob. Still being cheap asses even without Ainge there -

Boston offered Payton Pritchard, Danilo Gallinari and multiple future second-round picks

****ing gross. Glad they made this deal they did.

And I'm on record for being a fan of 2nd round picks as ways to move back into the first round, or use them to move up a few picks within the first. But getting a lightly protected 1st I think was the goal for Poeltl. Maybe they could have gotten two, I still think that was a pipe dream, but had they been able to do that, one or both would have been so heavily protected they would have risked never conveying

Couldn't be the offer. We can't take Danilo in a trade because we cut him.

Jacob can sign with anyone this offseason. Trading him for picks now doesn't change anything in that regard. They weren't going to extend him before the summer because he's due for a larger raise than is allowable with an extension. Honestly, this is pretty risky for Toronto IMO. And this is why nobody was going to give up 2 firsts for him. Getting one lightly protected plus a couple of seconds is a pretty good deal. Toronto must believe their prior relationship will help them lock him in.

I can't believe we haven't received a nice offer for JRich.

It's my understanding we could take him back but wouldn't be able to waive again.

Not to shabby in retrospect. The Spurs have done a pretty good job of getting guys and improving their value. It happened with Demar, Jacob, Young, Murray and White (both originally very late 1st round picks), and even Bertans. I think JRich and McBuckets are worth more now than when we picked them up.

Yeah, just hate some of the wasted draft picks we have had during rebuilding.

Luka Saminic 19th over Kevin Porter Jr (20/6/6 this year for the Rockets), Brandon Clarke (fine bench PF), Jordan Poole (21/5/3 for GSW this year), Thybulle (minus offensively, elite defensively), Nic Claxton (13/9/2.6b while leading league in FG% for Brooklyn), Daniel Gafford (another solid bench rim protector)

Primo over Sengun (15/9 this year and just turned 20), Trey Murphy (13/4 on 49/40/93 shooting at 22yo), BOnes Hyland (12/3 in 20mpg shooting 40/39 as backup lead guard), JRE -9/5 stretch 4 for the Thunder on 49/39 shooting..

Branham may be good, but Walker Kessler seems like the steal of the draft. Would make trading Jakob that much easier if we had Kessler (8/8 with 2 blocks in 20mpg and 72% FG%)

Lonnie is having a good season in LA (14p, 47/37 shooting) but Heuter was taken right after him. 15/3/3 on 48/39 shooting for Sac this year. Ted Cruz' *****ass son Grayson Allen is putting up 11/4/3 on 45/41 shooting and is great defensively. Robert Williams as a paint protector would be nice. Anfernee Simons is putting up 22/4/3 on 46/39/91 shooting. Jalen Brunson putting up 23/6/4 on 48/41 shooting. Mitchell Robinson is a solid rim protector.

The two drafts before that were White and Murray.

Trey Murphy or Bones Hyland over Primo, Claxton over Saminic, Kessler over Branham and Heuter, Simons, or Allen over Lonnie and this team is remarkably different.

Since White/Murray, we hit on Keldon and Vassell, but struck out had on Saminic, Walker, and Primo. And even as good as Vassell looks, Tyrese Halliburton is an All-NBA guy picked right after him. Desmond Bane was there, too.

Yeah, Robinson has 3y/50mm guaranteed left.

Robinson is averaging 6.9 points and 1.9 boards in 18mpg this year on .368/.331 shooting.

He's a spot shooter that forgot how to shoot. 90% of his shots are catch and shoot and 100% of his threes. So he can't guard anyone and can't create his own shot.

You need to include a ton of assets to keep me from hanging up immediately on taking that millstone.

I agree with you with most of this, but the Primo situation we can't place on the FO.

Granted, I wasn't huge on taking him anyways that early, but the fact he didn't pan out is out of their control. While I see what you're saying, hindsight is always 20/20 and I feel like the Spurs are in the upper tier of drafting when it comes to the NBA

Every team can go back find a horrific list of what-ifs from drafts. Hey, why didn't someone take Jokic in the 1st round?!

This is why the FO is accumulating picks. You probably hit on 50%. Saminic was an upside pick, he didn't figure it out. Walker is not any better than the young guys they've picked since but he is a solid NBA player. I see the strategy had really shifted to getting two way players. That's why they went Vassell over Halliburton. That's why Primo was targeted over Senguin (who is a terrible defender). Look at numbers all you want but this team needs to play defense. I think after the Saminic draft they changed their strategy a little.

Going back and getting Halliburton over Vassell would be interesting. I think if we knew both White and Murray would be gone then that would have been the pick. This team was just so heavy at PG with no big wings. If it makes you feel better, several teams regret not taking Halliburton OR Vassell in the top 10 that year.

A ton of people wanted us to take Halliburton over Vassell at the time. Pretty sure if you searched the draft thread here, you'd see that.

And I am guessing there were red flags in Primo's past. He alluded to his own past history and his accuser said that his actions were ongoing and she warned the Spurs FO starting in Dec 21.

The joke constantly was the Spurs were just taking combo guards that weren't great SGs and couldn't be a full time PG. That's basically what White and Murray are. Halliburton was more of a pure PG. We see White is basically a 12/4/4 guy on a good team with a good shot and great defense. Murray still doesn't have a great shot, but is a better all-around guy. I just don't think he is really aa great lead guard, no matter what his numbers were last year. But as a secondary lead or #2 player, he seems to fit well. Only with him in that role, ATL is still under .500 and doesn't seem to have a path to success.

Only a couple hours left. With the moves Indiana has made, the Spurs are pretty much the only team remaining with cap space.

Hoping Brooklyn wants to get below the tax line now since they blew up there chances and sends SA one of those first rounders they got from Phoenix to take on a bad contract (Joe Harris?). It would save them over something like $50 mil by doing that deal.

So tank and save up max space in summer 2023 only to spend 30mm in 2023 on 8p2r Joe Harris and 2p1r Khem Birch

But maybe get a bottom 5 first rounder out of it from Brooklyn via Phoenix?

Brooklyn is only 7.8mm over the lux tax line right now for a 12.5mm fine. Seth Curry is out an indefinite amount of time and has an ending contract. Give me a pick for him and we'll call it even. No tax. Saves them like $15mm.
