Because in order to trade him, someone needs to want him

Been helping a friend move all day, just reading through what's going on. Kinda early to give up on cosart, and I liked kekee just as much, if not more than anyone. But Moran is a stud. Lunhow is lookingtowards a couple years down the road.

Luhnow is always looking a couple years down the road.

Really surprised on no bullpen trades. And I assume no one offered **** for carter. Which I'm ok with. Gotta get a lot for a guy with 40 homer potential.

the problem with that phrase about the Hunter Pence trade...Pence was traded in 2011...3 years later the astros are still bad

and the problem with the Cosart trade...it's the continual movement of players such that the team is perpetually young. At some point you gotta stop dealing major league players for minor league players...the franchise will never get back into contention.

this is how Luhnow keeps delaying the breakthrough season. In 2010...the 'stros were 3 years away. In 2012...the 'stros were still 3 years away. And now in 2014...guess what? the 'stros are still 3 years away. It's like ground hog day at minute maid park

Marisnick is coming straight to Houston. The Astros obviously see it as trading a young major league pitcher for a young major league ready bat. Personally, wasnt a huge Cosart fan. He doesnt miss a lot of bats and he has control issues. Back end of the rotation guy, imo.

Cosart was a beast last year. I don't think we are 3 years away. We're ready, when Correa is ready

I think the Astros could be a competitive, .500ish team starting next year. They will need to be more aggressive in the free agent market this offseason, but its not outside the realm of possibility.

Now to be a true World Series contender? Yeah, that may be three years away but it is tough to build that kind of talent. Luhnow is only in his third year. The draft this year was a terrible PR moment for the front office, but some of you seem to have made up your minds on him already. I still think there is a lot to like about the farm system and how they are building this team.

Interesting article by CBS Sports about the trade. I'm still conflicted on the deal, but it's good to see national media saying we won it.

Driving to CS and my radio cut out right after grossman tied it. Pleasant surprise to set 4-2 after 3

On a scale of 1-10, how wrong would I be if I thought there was a small chance of grossman turning it around?

6. The potential is there... Batted ball profiles back it up. I just am starting to not believe in him to ever put it together.

This trade is a tremendous win for the Astros. It sucks to lose Enrique sentimentally, but we are selling super high on him. Cosart is who he is and will always have control issues unless he completely revamps his mechanics which would change everything about his pitching talent.

Moran and the comp pick are the gem. Marisnick is the wild card.

I've heard rumors that Cosart was also the instigator behind the Appel outlash. That may be another reason for moving him.

I really hope he does. It seems like he can hit good pitching (ie Darvish) but can't hit just normal guys. I think his average is back around .200 though so maybe he is putting it together. I thought he'd be good after what he did during the second half of last year.

And I thought Crain was supposed to be back in late May. Looks like he'll start throwing from the mound pretty soon, as will Albers. We need them. Bullpen has been shaky recently. Qualls is just going through a rough patch.

meh. I wouldn't call anyone in this trade a gem. The biggest compliment I keep seeing from Moran is that he was a high pick from last year. Which makes me wonder why Miami was already willing to give him up.
