If you are mainly interested in 2025 then you could do Bellinger with Paredes and Caissie. Bellinger replaces Tucker, Paredes replaces Bregman snd Caissie gives you the lefty OF to platoon with Meyers / Chas that could become a regular. Maybe you could also sign someone like Christian Walker as well.

Parades has too much value. You won't be able to get all that.

Bellinger has negative value. The downgrade from Suzuki to him is pretty big.

One of these years, I hope to come out of an off-season feeling like they boosted the offense

You'll get a depth rental bat at the deadline and you'll like it

Would much rather see Tuck go to the Cubs and the NL rather than NY.

I would absolutely hate to waste prime years of Yordan, Altuve and controllable years of Yainer on a rebuild. Even if it's a soft rebuild. Really hope it doesn't come down to that

Had a conversation last night and the Tucker rumors are very real. There's a legitimate chance he gets dealt this winter.

Prepare yourself now

There's just no way the Astros can keep it all in tact. They just can't afford it. They're not the Yankees, Dodgers, or Mets.

Even if they resign Bregman and run it back one more time you're passing up on the value of Tucker and/or Framber for an slim outside chance at another banner. That's not very smart.

Think about it...Bregman's standing off of $156/6 is the largest and longest contract ever given out by Crane. No way in hell he's gonna be able to give Tucker $400/10. Just like no matter how much I want to I can't afford a vacation home on my own tropical island.

We better get a King's ransom (pun intended) for him then
No matter what!
Epstein didn't do, you know, the thing...

Guess I know what I'm doing this morning. You heard of anyone or any teams we are targeting?

If we are going to deal Tuck, I say trade Framber as well. If you're going to sell, sell and try and reload in a year or two. As much as we don't want this run to end it will. Might as well set yourself up to try and do it again in the near future.......everyone needs to remember what got this run started in the first place. young, hungry guys with a couple vets sprinkled in. Not the other way around.

Any insight on whether the Astros are actually increasing their offer to Alex or is that just Dana BSing?

I'm leaning this way too.

Trade both for ML ready or almost ready (2-3 years out) talent, up the offer and resign Bregman, and have Bregs, Altuve, Yordan, and Diaz as the vet core with the young guys mixed in.

And actually this would make overpaying for Bregman a little more palatable if he's around a bunch of young guys as the vocal leader.

I don't think we necessarily need to re-sign all of them but I do think they have to be very smart going forward because you can't lose all 3 and then do nothing to get back to the playoffs in 2025.

That's my worry is we get great prospects in the trades but nothing that'll be significant for this upcoming season.

With the position they're in they can't position themselves for success in 2025 but also set themselves up for long term success.

I don't see how they can have it both ways.

I understand the term. I'm just frustrated that it's come to that when we have great key pieces in place like Javier, Brown, Yordan, Altuve, Diaz, etc.

I would have no problem trading Framber and Tucker if it meant we got back at least one MLBer (under control for 3+ years), a couple of MLB-ready type prospects and also unloaded Pressly.

This is whether we re-sign Breggy or not (unlikely). Find a short term 3B until one of our young guys is ready if Breggy leaves. Polanco?

Example of MLBer: someone like Casas (mentioned yesterday)

Example of MLB-ready prospects: Dominguez (NYY), Ballesteros (CHC) or Alcantara (CHC)

Not sure. Cubs obviously make sense.

It would have to be a substantial offer obviously. But if it presents itself, they just might pull the trigger.

I'm not even an Astros fan and I know this won't fly. Gil, Dominguez, and 2 of whatever overrated prospects you guys have to start the conversation.

If y'all think you're getting Dominguez for rental, you're insane. The package will look like the Soto deal from last year.

It'll be Gill, Schmidt and someone like Ben Rice. You have no leverage; everyone knows you aren't going to resign him

That is a plenty fair offer. I am not just that high on Schmidt or Gil even though Gil has a ton of control. The Astros need a big-time bat in this deal. The Yankees don't have one to offer most likely. A 3rd team would be required.
