Gonna be interesting to listen to Brandel tonight. He's gone from LIV could only get has beens to LIV took easy pickings, to LIV took the 'best money could buy' but as of 2 days ago still wanted to punish the guys and not award them OWGR points or RC spots. The players have long since gotten over it. Time for the media to as well.

He's so damn bitter. Perfect representative of his school.

And on a completely neutral note... This is one of the best major final rounds of recent years. It wasn't over till the 17th. We had the most amazing and uplifting story in Block. World #2 was in it. The final group didn't have a dud. PGA of America should be very proud. The course was awesome

LIV golf with a strong showing!

Hopefully that shuts up the PGAT about WG points. These major results for LIV have blown that argument up.
Nothing about the argument has anything to do with the quality of golfers that went to LIV. Surely you know that. Of course Brooks and DJ and Smith are still great. Heck, I know there were even rumors of Brooks wanting to come back, though not sure how true they were.

It has to do with how to systematically assign points to a tour. And how in three years we still ensure that those points are valid because a single group controls who gets to plays on the tour. You can't earn your way on. So say they actually all do start sucking, there's no mechanism to replace them. Yes, there's a reasonable compromise to adjust for a different competition style (pro-rate for 54 holes, only top 20 get points or something like that), but don't make a false equivalency that somehow people are saying the LIV players suddenly aren't any good.

Not to mention they made this move knowing full well the impact it would have on their OWGR, in the short-term at least.

I don't mind a nice rivalry between PGA and LIV.

I got a good chuckle watching brooks snub the official on the hand shank.

This SHOULD shut up all the LIV haters with there terrible takes but it probably won't. Great tournament to watch. Loved the crappy weather on Saturday and the more playable course today. Not doubt the best golfer this week won the tournament.

Brooks with Jack and Tiger as the only 3 time winners of the PGA Championship in the stroke era

He's the most cold-blooded golfer of our era. Dude is unfazed in the big time moments. Golf is more fun when he's playing well.

Honestly, the fans are who have lost in all this LIV stuff. Watching him and DJ and them compete week in and week out is gone.

I was watching the 2023 PGA. Not sure about you. When walking to the scoring tent the official he dealt with earlier on the front nine with his penalty ball stuck his hand out for a hand shake and Brooks blew right by him. Dude is a machine. I love the cold blooded attitude he has.

Agree sort of, but wasn't that the original point of the reason for LIV? PGAT waited too long to cater to their stars.

Personally I haven't been that bothered. I use a roku on all my tv's so going to the CW app to watch LIV golf has been like changing the channels for me. I probably watch net slightly more golf than before when both tours have a good Sunday but otherwise it's easy enough to follow along.

The only tournaments where I miss the liv guys are the 2nd tier PGAT events. Those fields are thinner

It only has to do with how the PGAT protects its own interests and ensures the skew the points their way. All the BS to justify how that happens is just that, BS to justify what they want.

You don't get to say we're the best and deserve most of the points and another league walks in dominates the leader board top to bottom with only 16 qualifying. And it's made the tour look silly to try and keep pushing the narrative. Just like the others that have blown up in their face so far.

Schadenfreude (and the psychological issues that it speaks to) aside, how has the golf competition week in and week out gotten better for the fans?
AgLA06

I wouldn't. I'd send the top 20 from PGAT, LIV, and DP World tour and let the majors invite who they wanted otherwise. I think made up points are worthless at this point anyway.

Of course that won't work because the PGAT might not get as many players as normal. And that should tell you all you need to know.

They didn't wait too long. They didn't have the votes. The tour is the players. The rank and file outnumber the stars and wouldn't vote to re-organize the tour in the stars (and not their) favor.

Elevated events. New venues. Forced better content and TV delivery. Just a few off the top of my head on my phone.

Say what you want, LIV's production was much more entertaining to me.

Because the stars finally had leverage over the rank and file because of the threat they would leave for LIV.

This was always a player dispute. Not a Tour brass versus the players dispute. People continually misconstrue this.

Leader board is showing otherwise in this case.

I'm fine just letting the majors invite whoever they want and plus auto invite from past finishes. Your argument has nothing to do with golf.
