Conners getting relief with no penalty?
No, it was in the rough/wet ground just above the lipElCheAg said:
So it was not embedded in the sand/bunker?

Funniest thing, to me anyway, was Hovland's reaction to criticism of his clothes.
https://sports.yahoo.com/pay-money-viktor-hovland-explains-140719133.html
"When asked about his day one outfit at Oak Hill in the 2023 PGA Championship and the colorful nature of it, he confirmed he usually goes for more subtle styling.
No," he said, "I wear a lot of gray, black, and that's about it."
So, why is he rarely seen wearing gray and black in Majors? Well, of course, because he is a paid brand ambassador for J Lindeberg.
"Well, J. Lindeberg, they give me this stuff and pay me money to do so, so I just show up and wear what they want me to wear," he admitted.

And during a back and forth with a fan:
The fan continued saying:In response, Hovland said:Quote:

"I don't give a s**t anyways."

I watched most of the day yesterday. Great day of golf that challenged the players. Couple thoughts. A lot is being made in articles about koepka and dechambeau being booed at the first hole. But none of the articles discuss how they were wildly cheered after and the crowd went really wild after koepka's last birdie.
Then the Connors ruling on the embedded ball. That is the second time I have seen that and both times it was the tournament leader. And in both cases, the guys got free relief. I dont see why that is any different than hitting a ball into a shrub that you cant hit the bal out of. I know it's the rule but that rule should change to assess a 1 stroke penalty with a drop.
So the rule is ten seconds after reaching the ball? So maybe 12-13 seconds after the ball stops? His took about 33 seconds.Bunk Moreland said:PGA ruled this putt did not count because it sat for too long pic.twitter.com/qklUWTrx2K

Ever hit an approach to the green that gets embedded? Should that be played as-is? If not, how do you determine which embedded lies should get relief and which should not?
I'd be open to divot relief in a fairway but the embedded rule is a good one IMO.

So they're technically correct, but that sucks. We'd count it in my local game.
How do you write a rule that says whether the embedded ball was a result of a good shot or a bad shot? Embedded ball in green or in rough 5 feet from the shot or as it lands are all treated the same.safety guy said:
The embedded rule to me is odd. Hitting a ball onto the green or hitting into a divot, you at least hit good shots. But when a guy doesn't clear the lip of a bunker, that is a bad shot and should have some type of penalty. It's like hitting into a bush. You have to take a penalty and a drop.
