I use a Keurig K-Cafe thing because I'm lazy and it makes OK latte's.

But regardless of that fact, the best coffee I've found is Illy It's the coffee they serve at Macaroni Grill, and there's an Illy shop in the area between the Venetian and the Palazzo in Las Vegas. Their regular blend is good, but the Brazil and Colombia styles are even better.

That's funny you mention Illy. Aside from roasting our own coffee we've been distributing Illy for over 15 years. Let me know if you're interested in a home espresso unit. We recently reacquired a bunch from a hotel and are selling them refurbished for a very discounted price.
Edit: we also have Illy K-Cups available.

I'd like some info on one of these espresso units!

Has anyone tried Vietnamese coffee brewed with a Phin? It's an espresso coffee that's not as bitter and pretty cost effective.

The unit is a Francis Francis Y5. It's priced at $130 and includes a 100 count case of capsules of your choosing (medium, dark, or decaf) which is an $80 value. PM if you'd like a link to the listing on our website. It's behind a password that I can't blast to the public.

My Krups drip brewer just bit the dust. In the market for a drip brewer now. Stainless steel carafe and not looking to break bank but willing to go for a good one.

New coffee snob here and really wanting to pick up some sort of espresso machine. I know next to nothing about them but have been looking at some different options online. I've found that the sky is the limit in regards to budget and functionality. Honestly, I'm just looking for something that is easy to use and makes a decent shot of espresso.

Any recs for this kind of setup?

Do these bean-to-cup rigs make decent shots of espresso? Or is it important to get a separate grinder of high quality and do it yourself?

I'd like to keep the total setup under $500.

Thanks.

Just getting into cold brew. I am really digging it so far. Wanted something cold, since it is hot as balls outside. First day I discovered that just because it is cold and I am able to gulp it, that I probably should not. Spent the afternoon with a nice caffeine headache. The last couple days I have been able to temper my enthusiasm and drink at a more appropriate rate. $19 amazon cold brew device and work coffee grounds gettin it done!

There is a blue bottle half way between my hotel and the client.

Is it worth it to wait the extra 30 minutes before I get my coffee vs just grabbing a starbucks at the hotel. I am sure it is better but is it 30 minutes better?

You should wait the 30 minutes to see.

I've never been to one of their cafes but I've had their coffee and it's pretty good.

I'll put it another way - I would absolutely stop and try their cafe if I was near one.

Can't go wrong with a good old Mr. Coffee machine. My parents have one in their RV, and with good coffee, it makes a solid cup.

Just bought a Technivorm Moccamaster on sale. This is by far my nicest coffee gear purchase and want to try some good beans to go with it. Any suggestions on what I should try, I usually lean towards a darker roast but am open to anything. m

I initially used the Hario ceramic burr grinder and french presses, but went with the Espro French Press for several years and it seemed to offer a great cup of coffee.

Now that wife and I upgraded to our new home, we had this thing installed, and it's truly incredible. It was incredibly expensive, but with how often we use it and the ease of use and versatility, it's more than worth it to us

Not judging at all. But I had no idea a coffee machine could cost so much. $4000??? That's wild! But then again you use it every day and you can blow 4000 bucks on a week's long vacation and it's not even a great vacation.

Just a heads up to all of our coffee lovers. To celebrate national coffee day, all of our coffee is 50% off today through Monday.

I can't imagine ever being at a place in life where I could get something like this . Must be nice!

Never been satisfied with home coffee makers. We have the single K cup one that I use some and my wife uses a lot for her Apple cider and hot chocolate (she doesn't drink coffee). I'm seriously considering buying a Bunn VP-17 or similar commercial machine. The problem with those is that they keep a sizable portion of water in the reservoir after use (i.e. overnight) unless you buy the ones that are plumbed into a water line, which are 600 bucks plus!

In the mean time, what are the best K cups straight down the middle black coffee that you guys like? So far I like the Dunkin ones. Anything better? I do not do Starbucks at all for anything.

I'm confused... do you want an excellent at home drip coffee maker or something similar to a Keurig? You aren't ever going to get great coffee out of a Keurig or anything similar. If you want great drip coffee at home get a Bonavita. I'll make Chemex on the weekends and the Bonavita is pretty darn close to the same quality.

I wrote: "I'm seriously considering buying a Bunn VP-17" and then "In the mean time..." I'm not sure what your confusion is due to. I have the Keurig; I don't have the Bunn (yet), but want to know what, if anything, is worthwhile. I KNOW the Keurig won't match the higher end machines but that's the machine I have now (short term) and I can't take a Bunn or whatever other machine with me on the road -- Keurigs are in many hotels now. So looking for quality K-cups isn't a pointless issue even if I invest in a Bunn.

I've had the Cuisinart Brew Central, reputedly one of the better consumer coffee makers and wasn't happy with it. I will take a look at the brands you recommend.

Start with this list: https://sca.coffee/certified-home-brewer . If these guys put their stamp of approval on it, it means it makes dang good coffee. There are some Bunn machines on the list as well as the afforementioned Bonavitas. If you're wanting something for when youre on the road I recommend an Aeropress.

I started out grinding with a Hario Skerton and then got a Capresso Infinity, but I still wasn't pleased with the grind quality plus I deal with frequent power outages where I live. I'd been eyeing a Lido manual grinder for a long time, but it seems the market place has caught up with other options that are more travel friendly and easier to adjust. Happy birthday to me:

I get great coffee out of my percolator. I've never been super impressed with our KCup maker though some brands and blends/roasts are better than others.

I guess it depends on what you're looking for in your coffee. I'm a man of simple taste (in coffee,) so I'm happy with most any simple medium to dark roast, no flavorings, no funky stuff. Just coffee.

For that, my Cuisinart 12 cup percolator does nicely when I fill it with BRCC Just Black or AK47, or even Folgers new 1850 blend. Quite good actually!

Just switched to a french press and an electric kettle for heating water. Don't know why I ever spent money on expensive coffee makers, because this makes much better coffee. I just wake up 10 minutes earlier now on work days since there is a little more to it than loading the coffee maker and walking away. But all totally worth it to me. This is the only way I will do it from now on. I can see getting an expensive set up if you are making espresso or lattes, but I'm just a black coffee person so this is all I need.

Never fancied the French press. Using a chemex now and really enjoying it. Need to upgrade my bean game from the Starbucks blonde roast, however. (Although I do enjoy it.)

My brother works for a coffee company in Louisville so I either buy roasted beans from him (or wait for him to send me free samples) or I buy my green coffee from Sweet Marias and roast myself. Typically 10 lbs at a time and spend 1 night a week roasting it.

I have this roaster:
Behmor 5400

I need to invest in a better grinder but currently use this one:
Baratza Encore Conical Burr

I brew every morning with the Behmor 5393 Brazen Coffee Maker:

I really enjoy my set up and have my eyes on improving the machinery I use but its not something I feel I MUST do. It all makes really good coffee each morning.

Does this animal exist?

I currently use a Nespresso machine and Chemex as my main two coffee fix devices.

I'd like a good value espresso machine.

I drink coffee, espresso, americano. Nothing with milk so a frother isn't' necessary.

I'd like something that can grind beans.

Can I get something for the house that makes a great cup for $300? $400? $500? more?

I THINK what I'd like is a low end model from a high end brand. But I've just started looking so I really have no clue what I should be looking for.
