Less impressive results? Did you forget Kennedy's first years??

And Kennedy inherited a much better roster. The 2012 team was expected to contend for the Big 12 title and finished 4-14 in conference play. To me that was just as bad as the season we went winless in Watkins last year.

OP - Dig deeper. You are missing the big picture. BK left us with some good players last year but this year is a result in a hole in the roster that he created.

I didn't realize he was only here for 3 years. Seemed a lot longer than that.

I am not a Kennedy fan but I don't rail on him every chance I get but it was Buzz and the administration that left us dry in recruiting. Letting all of the recruits go was what did it not Kennedy recruiting. And for the record I have no problem letting them out of the LOI at all but that wasn't Kennedy's fault on roster IMO

Oh I'm sorry, are you happy with the job he's doing for what we are paying him?

This is a sport where just one guy can elevate the entire team. It's not football where even good coaches can take years to show wether they're a good investment or not. Basketball coaches let you know who they are in season 1 and I'm not impressed at all.

I don't believe it takes two years to recruit. But this year has been weird. If Buzz doesn't have the team ready next year, it's a bigger issue. This year will play out and we will see if things improve.

BK is a worthy human being and I'm sure he is disappointed with how things turned out. But we are allowed to make business decisions about our sports programs.

We don't owe anybody an apology. It's too short into Buzz's tenure to think that. Same happened at sip. It looked like Shaka was a total bust and that Barnes was going to dominate at UT, but look at how they are this year.

I give a coach time to get his players and system in place and then see how he does so I am not bashing Buzz at all but I find the argument that we paid him millions when every coach at this level gets that amount but we pay Buzz over 60 percent more than Kennedy got paid and Buzz is not even but three games over .500 here. Will he better than that. I think so but who knows. I think we made a good hire but time will tell. But this school getting to 2 Sweet 16s either with Kennedy or in spite of Kennedy depending upon you position is still pretty damn well better than our history tells us we are
The question is would BK have done as much as with the current talent on the team to this point? I would say 'No'. Buzz was SEC Coach of the Year last year with not much talent and talent that he didn't recruit.

BK is gone. We should all move on whether you didn't like him or liked him. Like some people still feel the need to bring up Sumlin for some reason. Let it go and let's move on.

So impressive that a directional Louisiana school passed up hiring him.

So dumb. The tenure looked at a whole was bad. Even the 2 good teams underachieved given the talent. Stop it.
You act like the talent was just given to him. He recruited that talent.

If his tenure looks bad, and he took us as far as we've even been (twice), that says a lot about our basketball program.

BK was a great person and between finding some gems and Stansbury bringing in a great class we clawed our way to a couple S16s. Don't forget we missed the dance in-between...

Other than that we either flamed out during the season or never got in gear to begin with. I think it's also fair to question some of the personalities we brought in versus the guys we ran off. He was a straight up lacking in-game coach and it cost us quite a few.

I'm glad he found a new spot at Wichita and I hope he stays healthy, but it was time to move on.

It's not that he missed the tournament, but that in 6 of his 8 years, he wasn't even on the bubble...including year 6 & year 8.

He was a blind squirrel who just happened to stumbled upon a nut...twice.

I wish any of our other coaches in our history could've "stumbled upon" those 2 nuts. But he's the only one to have done that.

And we weren't paying him top 12 money likey we are our current coach.

you act like his tenure wasn't markedly worse than each of the 2 guys who preceeded him. The way you get on your knees for a loser like BK, I bet you will toss Turge and Gillispie's salads.

BK drove this program into the ground outside of one great recruting class.

Previous 6 seasons before he arrived we were in the tournament 6 times

In his 8 seasons: 2 appearances

I was very impressed in year 1. Started slow, but hit a rhythm and finished well.
As in, deserving of the SEC Coach of the Year type of finished well.

It impresses you that it took him over half the year to regain control over the locker room and get a talented team to start playing like they could at a point where it no longer mattered anyway

Never forget, this is the sad little punk who crapped all over the baseball board 4 games into the season, declaring it over, only to have the team make it to Omaha. Of course he never owned his mistake. Dude is easily the saddest loser on this site.

No one owes BK an apology

That said, the only thing that matters in college bball is how you do in the tournament, and how many conference titles you have.

BK has 2 sweet 16 appearances, and 1 conference title. No other A&M coach can say that.

Additionally, he has the greatest win IMO in the history of A&M bball (UNC in round 2 of the '18 tourney) as well as the greatest final minute comeback in the history of NCAA men's bball, not just the tourney (UNI in '16).

Just some perspective.

The miracle minute in the tourney had little to do with BK. It was a great team effort against Northern Iowa. We promptly exited with a 14 point loss to Oklahoma the next weekend.

Not one person is important as the other. The win was a team effort.

We like to dwell on the losses, but don't let the facts derail the reality that we lost to teams that went on to the Final Four (Michigan/Oklahoma) with Michigan going on to the Championship game.

It wouldn't have mattered if we lost by 2 or 50, a loss is a loss.
