He needs minutes. Stupid of you to say he's been chasing money all this time. We were bringing in someone from the portal who'd keep Pop at 20 minutes a game average. Pop single handedly lost us the SMU game. All he had to do was not do something stupid, get fouled, and make a free throw or two. I liked how he was playing toward the end, but even then, he wasn't a threat. We can absolutely do better, and likely MUCH better.

Lol and he played great in March when it mattered and helped get us into the tournament.
Pop was probably our best combo of catch-and-shoot & pull-up jump shooter. He was way more comfortable getting off his shot than Ruben. I'm not saying he couldn't be frustrating, or is irreplaceable, but he was a decent threat in our offense, especially in a quick fire sense. A lot of our killshot runs involved him.
He played good in March. Good threat from three if open. Decent defensively. Don't ever count on him to make a 2 pointer or make a great assist. That's a limited skill set. Just our best option this year by the end.

He didn't play great. He was the best we had and did help the team. He is a senior and isn't a top pg that can lead a good team. He is looking for more money and more playing time im sure. It would be good for us to have him, but if we have the nil money there will be better players available.

Pop is a fierce competitor who wants to win imo. He wasn't always fantastic and he did cost us the SMU game but he also was good in March . I don't see how we are better off without him but it does at some point in today's world come down to budget . He may also not be in love with expending energy on full court pressing perhaps and if that's the case I could see him being told to move on. Buy in to system does matter.
Bucky has a job to do.

Yeah I overstated it for sure and this is more in line with my thinking.

The Pop hate was just weird to me and still hanging on to the SMU game from early December when he was still getting into the swing of things off of injury is odd.
I think people like to pile things on Pop that he's only partially responsible for.
Even at the end of the SMU game it's not like he was the only one who made a bad play, and he also hit a three with just over a minute left without which we would have lost anyway. After the made three:
He has the horrible midcourt turnover, but it's Agee that fouls the shooter on the layup and gives SMU free throws there. Now it's 77-75 and we have a timeout left but it's Marcus Hill that just throws a ball up for grabs and leads to the turnover to tie it. On the next possession we play for the last shot and at the end Isaacs can't decided what he wants to do and it ends in another turnover, another bad Isaacs play. We then actually get one more shot thanks to the insane replay rules with 1.1 seconds left and Griffin is coming open, Isaacs makes a pass and it just goes right through Griffin's hands.
That's several people making bad plays for a game that some folks are saying Isaacs "singlehandedly" lost.
I like Isaacs, I appreciate the effort he gave and how he improved over the course of the season, in mid-to-late December it seems like a potentially toxic situation was brewing there and he came out of it and was a huge part of why we made the NCAA Tournament.
I don't think our style of basketball particularly suits him, I also think he wants to be more of a featured player, and he'd be better on a team that has an established big man and can play more of a "probing" style of offense.
If he would have stayed, great, but I also don't think it's a big deal that he's leaving.

If he doesn't play how Bucky wants, his backside will be on the bench. Bucky did it to Pop at the beginning of this past season. It'll be fine

Genuinely curious- what do you mean by "doesn't play winning basketball"?
Undeniably talented player. Talented scorer. Massive pickup from that standpoint. He also has tons of red flags with regards to playing winning basketball so hope Bucky has the reigns on it. He did with Pop so I'm hopeful
Bucky may come across as an aw shucks humble guy, but let's be honest he, like every other coach in this biz, has extreme self-confidence in himself and that's what gets the buy-in. Also, I'm gonna assume because this kid hasn't done much winning before that he wants a taste of it by being coached by a proven winner.
