I cannot comment on other sports or games bc I don't keep that kind of stuff memorized. I don't have BAS. Not saying you do, I just don't dwell on things like that if they did occur. And I was an Aggie fan after 88/89. Apparently losing to LSU in baseball that year still haunts many.

The Liberty coach had her team prepared to face lefty. She brought in a professional male left handed fast pitch pitcher to get them ready for her.

That being said, we still should have beat them. It's hard to come back in a regional if you don't start 2-0. I think teams that start 2-0 win them 85% of the time. The 6th inning of that first game is the reason. So many close plays all went Liberty's way. The game of inches haunted us that inning. Yet, our girls almost came back. It really sucks bc I do think they are great team and could have made some noise in the WCWS. I'm not sure they could have won it all but I wish they had got there bc that experience would pay dividends next season and further.

Is there some world where SEC teams don't know how to prepare for the hard throwing opponents they face every weekend or don't even know how to? This is just silly.

Not every coach has connections such as that one is my guess. And some coaches probably don't prepare as well as others.

As predicted...Oregon sweeps Liberty in a good old fashioned game 2 ass whoopin'

Liberty was a good team but we could have beaten them 9 out of 10 times.....we just had that 'aggie' luck and timing.
don't you mean 8 out of 10 times?

Apparently I have held valuable secrets for decades on how to prepare for a pitcher with more velocity that others on your team. Yet, every decent coach my kids have played for knew the secrets too.

And apparently Liberty forgot to prepare for this weekend at Oregon.

We can argue and debate all we want but the why is very simple. Last weekend our Ace was not an Ace in the circle and Grace should have never entered the circle. Our offense scored enough runs to win any decent pitched game.

But why was Kennedy so off? Was she overused in the SEC Tournament? The latter part of the season? Texas used 5 pitchers in their two SEC tournament games.

That is because they couldn't get anyone out. Texas ran thru 4 pitchers in the game we run ruled them. We scored 14 runs in the first 3 innings. They kept churning pitchers who weren't effective. I wonder why? Were they over used?

I don't think overuse was it. I think it was between the ears. She hadn't been as good this year as last year in general. There were a couple times this year she just didn't have it. Vs liberty was one of them.

I think you hit the nail on the head. Coach Ford also mentioned a couple times in the mid part of the season that she was battling some kind of injury.

10 innings over a weekend is very normal. Nothing unusual there.

But why was Kennedy so off?

For a pitcher, the issues are usually command/control or velocity.

I think it's much more likely a mental/confidence issue. I think having a revolving door at catcher only hurt in that area and losing a player like Cottrill was big for Kennedy. She just seemed to not be the same in pressure situations this year.

Coach Ford in the postgame mentioned "swing plane" relative to her pitches and their batters. So that could mean Kennedy's pitches didn't have enough run/tail on them to induce weaker hits or misses.

Have you watched these super regional games? Some of these pitchers are pitching 3 games. Lefty was not over used.

Appreciate the context (ditto for Gap). I'm the most casual of softball fans, so don't really know how these pitchers are typically used. I just knew that pitching that much in baseball in a short time would be unheard of.

Today, Georgia has twice been Jobbed by failures to overturn bad calls (both at first base). The game commentators agreed on the reversal the first time, and were silent on the second.

It appears the SEC prefers Florida going to the WCWS.

The wheels have come off in South Carolina. UCLA is punishing them. Cocks came within one out of going to the CWS last night. Rooting against all SEC teams. Why root for your enemies?

Shelton walking into dugout for the 3rd out of the 6th is gonna haunt her forever

They certainly had some lefties who match swing planes pretty well but they did damage from both sides of the plate and all through the lineup. It was rough and mostly due to a lack of command, in my opinion.

If Ole Miss hangs on, that side of the bracket would be Oregon, UCLA, Ole Miss and Tech? Tech could sleepwalk into the championship.

I think OU or Tech wins it.

while I appreciate the transparency of the selection committee, it seemed pretty obvious to me that oregon and UCLA were both top 10 teams all year long. glad they proved the schedule naysayers wrong. you can only beat whats in front of you

I like Pickens to beat OU 1st round. Makes for a long, but doable, path to the championship.

Maybe. Unsure i care. As long as Texas doesn't win.

...and her first base coach...and the relief pitcher who threw one pitch for the walk-off home run. The 6th inning base running gaff and the 7th inning collapse will leave lifetime mental scars.

I can give the 1st base coach a pass. He watched the play at home and then was checking out the 3rd base coach and had his back to her the whole time while she just walked straight to the dugout. How could he have ever thought she was just gonna go to the dugout. Heck, the one girl sitting in the opening was like "what are you doing" but it was too little, too late.

The 1st pitch homerun off the reliever is part of the game.

If you apply this logic (and I am not disagreeing with you), Liberty deserved a much higher ranking. But so did Marist.

Liberty definitely were under seeded. They were ranked 24th in RPI and 27th in the rankings. They expected to be in anywhere between South Carolina's regional and Clemson's.

Liberty was unranked (but receiving votes) in all the polls and No. 26 in RPI heading into the regional.

https://www.aseaofred.com/super-regional-preview-liberty-vs-no-16-oregon/

I haven't seen anything that prognosticated they'd be seeded as a host, much less in the 8-11 range.

Mainly the beef was they didn't get to face a host in that range rather than the overall No. 1 seed.

Cece Cellura, pitcher from San Diego State a few mentioned the other day, got offers from Bama and LSU. She committed to LSU on Monday. She will be a Junior. We have played LSU the past two years so might not see them the next two years during the regular season.

Desirae Spearman, the two way player (OF and P) from New Mexico State, also mentioned the other day, with really good hitting stats but average pitching stats, is still available. Will be a Junior.

Maya Johnson, the national strikeout leader from Belmont with the awesome stats, is still available. She will be a Senior. I wonder what her NIL offers have been.

Fort Wayne has about 14 players in the portal. Multiple classes. Lots of possible reasons for the exodus. Always interesting when this happens.
