Its early for HS recruits, isn't it? Can't contact them until September of their Jr year.

Unless it is a 2026. And that would likely mean a flip if a top prospect.
I've got no idea though on who these may be. But to your point, the most likely action would likely be a transfer.

Unfortunately, it is crystal clear that we cannot afford any All Americans at any position whilst Tech (and other schools) have bought several. We certainly cannot afford even one dominating pitcher, something we really, really need. Only pitcher offer that I know of still open is to Taylor Pannell from Missouri. Was not used much last year with decent but certainly not overwhelming numbers. Twice as many IP's this year but just average stats. May be another Grace if she signs but I hope not. If not one of the really big guns really wish we could have picked up Peeja Goold!

I am still wondering about what our coaches think about some of our existing players and where they might fit in like Larisa, Ariel and Reagan in the infield. Larisa was 6A All State last year. Ariel was a starter for Florida. Reagan has seen practically zero action but was a pretty good hitter in HS. What position or positions have they been playing in practice?
Junior to be SS Addison Amaral from Notre Dame has still not signed with anyone. She has pretty good numbers. I wonder where our coaches think about putting her (if she signs) with KK currently penciled in at SS? If at 2B that would probably leave only 1B open (where Amari probably would have been) - but what about Ariel?!? Was thinking that Mya might be our DP next year and maybe, just maybe, Taylor Brown at 1B. Or Mya at 1B and someone else at DP (Madison, the new catcher? Taylor?). Or thought we might offer to 1B Brooke Wells from Houston, who will be a Sophomore. Not great numbers but above average. But did not. But we HAVE made an offer to Micaela Wark, a 1B and DP from OK State with BELOW average stats!
[I really do not think Coach Ford will let pitcher Taylor Brown do anything but pitch even though she was a 1B in HS and had awesome stats at the plate - I really, really hope I am wrong about this !!!]
And Hailey and Scout in the outfield. Hailey was really good in HS and has done really well in the PR role. I thought the coaches might be satisfied with the current outfielders and those coming in because initially no offers were made to outfielders but now recently two have been added, a Sophomore to be (Char Lorenz) with really good numbers and a Senior to be (Kaiah Altmeyer) with pretty good numbers (incl 18 DB and 52 RBI). Recall we have three very highly rated outfielders in the 2026 class (although at this time only commits!) and the two in the new Freshman class.
Regardless, I hope the coaches have a lot of success on the recruiting trail this summer. As for players from Texas, transfers or recruits, it is always great to get players who have wanted to be an Aggie for many years. Softball is second. Which means there is a pretty good chance that even if they turn out to be really, really good they 'might' not transfer just to get more money somewhere else!

Texas Tech's Bailey Lindemuth just entered the transfer portal. A 2-way player, Lindemuth spent much of her first season at 3rd base. Played and started in all 68 games as a true freshman with 66 starts at 3B and 2 starts in the circle. Hit .395 with 50 hits, eight doubles and five home runs and drove in 32 runs… finished with a 2-1 record and 2.55 ERA in the circle… was the 11th ranked pitcher in the 2024 class
Would be curious to see if we go after her. I watched her in the WCWS and she had a pretty good glove. Would be surprised if she came in and played 3rd with KP already there. Thanks for bringing up Lindemuth. Roughly 30 players have been added to the D1 portal list since I have been out of circulation so have some catching up to do. Includes about 6 from Tech! I checked her out and she's from Burleson - Coach likes Texas girls. Was a hotshot player in HS. Perhaps the coaches will give her a ring and ask her if she has played any other position since we have KP, Ariel and Larisa as 3B's on the staff.

I almost forgot - After lurking for a year I created a TexAgs account a little over a year ago (after end of season) to join in the discussions. It has been great! There are several here who regularly make excellent comments, many really thought-provoking, who I really enjoy reading. I DO realize I sometimes make long posts but I have been a huge fan of Aggie softball for many years and sometimes I get to putting my thoughts 'on paper' and they turn out to be quite lengthy! I am a year-round poster because I always want to know what is going on during the off-season, trying to predict who will start and play where, etc. Some are here only during the season and that's cool, too. And I really do appreciate those who post updates during the Fall games - thank you! All that said, I hope that I have added something positive to the threads and not been too annoying with my posts!

Gosh, not too long ago I mentioned us having several at the 3B position and I just saw that we offered to Okie State's Tallen Edwards, a 3B Senior to be player from Moore, Okiehoma (F5 tornado capital !!). Not great numbers but was overall #3 in 2023 Elite 100. ON3 rates us as having an overwhelming chance to get her. Played LF her Freshman year. Another surprise offer (at least to me!). We'll find out.

I would caution that players families and prospective players and their families read this site. I don't think categorizing our portal pickups as leftovers when we don't even know who they are is fair.
I do enjoy a healthy discussion about the team and doesn't always have to be positive. So post away and lets discuss. We know the team needs some help from the portal. Hopefully the players they pull in will be contributors we need

On a completely separate note…71 pages of a softball season thread is a lot! I wish we had a separate board just for softball, because a lot of different topics have been discussed here. It's difficult to go through 71 pages to find that one specific post you're thinking of!

This is a forum with TexAgs, so I assume they would be the ones to suggest a separate softball link. I agree about being separated from baseball. I use both.

Several have mentioned having a separate softball page during the time I have been reading and/or using the site and I agree it would be a great idea. But it is usually shot down and there have been references to and comments by TexAgs staff saying there is not enough traffic. Note that I have used the search option in the menu at the top of the page a few times, looking for posts, and it usually works. I tried a quickie test searching for:
71 pages of a softball season thread
Select forum, the baseball and softball forum, and search. It returned the above posts that included that string.
Sooo, if you can think of a quote or player or something like that it will be easier than scrolling through 71 pages - which IS a huge task !!

Has KP played SS (in HS)? I recall ford last year saying she liked that the entire infield had played SS. KK did see some playing time at SS, but played 2B most of the season.
Talen has played OF in college as has KP. If the best players you can get overload the infield then someone plays outfield to get the bats in the lineup. I still think you need a 1b. Mya was ok defensively and could improve with an offseason of work but I see her as a DP. I still don't understand where Arial may fit. We know she played 3b at Florida but also has played C and 2b in the past. Where she fits matters to where everyone else fits. In the end put I believe in putting your best 8 defenders who contribute offensively on the field. The game may be changing though to put your best 8 bats who don't kill you defensively. It is what makes the offseason fun to watch and project
We should be getting a 1st baseman in the portal. Ariel Kowalewski can catch and we have a freshman catcher coming in. I think we will have all the positions covered and Mya can DP. I still hope there is an ace pitcher in the portal we can get.
I feel like catching was our weakest defensive position of the year. Would love to see that shore up in 2026. No one really shined behind the plate. But I hear the freshmen coming in is a stud and will compete starting day 1
I wrote the above when I saw we made an offer to her. Average hitting stats but this season only 8 SO's in 149 AB's, with 26 walks. That's a great eye! Only .282 BA, one of the lowest on the OSU team of all the starters. Three HR's. But only 4 errors on the season, pretty darn good for the 'hot corner'. A player on the field because of her glove. Think Kramer but without as many SO's (Kramer had 22, Allie 27).frankie00 said:

I have written several times 'what about Ariel'? And several times wondering where our non-starters have been practicing this year. And with each passing day I think 3B is less of a lock (for KP). She played OF her Freshman year at UCLA, made the Pac 12 All Freshman team at that position (and had a great bat that year). And perhaps KK no longer a lock at SS even though Coach Ford mentioned several times this year that she is the 'SS of the future'. She has a fantastic glove with outstanding range and her bat got really hot later in the season. She will be on the field somewhere !!
As a person mentioned above not uncommon to move IF to OF. Coach has done just that with Scout and Frankie and pretty good chance we will see it again with other players.
1B? Am still surprised we have not offered to Brooke Wells out of Houston. 10 HR's, 47 RBI's. In my opinion a MUCH better choice than the new OK State offer. And I will wonder many times all Summer and Fall if Redshirt Freshman P Taylor Brown will get a chance at 1B and at the plate because her HS hitting stats were simply awesome (she was a 1B and P in HS). In other words, we may have a starting 1B with a ton of power AND with four years of eligibility on the roster right now ... who may also be a lock down pitcher!
So many what ifs - I dig it !!
Beginning to think the "8 bats that don't hurt you defensively" seems to be a trend across all of softball. I've been playing "if I was coach", lol, which we all do from time to time. Arial is the one that I don't quite know where to put on the field. Do agree, 1B and Catcher are where I see the most need. Maybe mystery recruit #2 is on that can play 1st?Boozer92 said:

You would think as a softball coach you could really hurt your reputation with high school recruits if you continue to replace your players each year in the portal. It's a fine line and I'm sure Ford is having to balance that. Hopefully she'll bring in a few good players to plug some holes.

And again, volleyball had only 1 thread last season and got their own board. Then expanded to many threads discussing different topics.
