Yep.

I have mixed thoughts on that. Part of me in basketball and baseball don't like that. Why play it late in the year for it not to matter. Yet for a lot of schools it's their only ticket.

But it does give the best 4-5 teams a week off.

If the tournament doesn't matter then we had nothing to play for and wherever we were last Sunday is where we are now.

My memory fails me sometimes, but I'm 99% sure the host sites are always announced the day prior all at once with very little fanfare, same as was done today.

Every year folks over estimate how tournaments will help in hosting but one needs to consider what teams you need to leap frog did in their tourneys. Kansas, West Virginia, Nebraska and Oregon all had good tournament runs.. I am a little surprised that Oregon St. did not host.

RPI always punishes bad losses far more than it rewards great wins. Arkansas didn't even move in RPI after beating Auburn last night. Those early season games against mid-majors pretty much can dictate your entire season.

They made a very compelling argument for why we should be no lower than 10th. That would almost certainly preclude us from facing Texas in the Supers.

They also had Pig as a host and not the last hosting spot. They're guessing like all of us. But I agree with the tu theory. I'm sure the powers at be don't want us finishing the year going undefeated against those queers.

Someone tell USC that RPI is king. I'm guessing they were close enough with Oregon that the Ducks' h2h series win came into play. Otherwise, however, it does appear the 16 map pretty closely to RPI. Will be interesting to see tomorrow which ranking the seeding most closely aligns with.

Homefield advantage is overrated. Omaha is going to be away regardless of seeding, so our guys better figure out how to win on the road. It hasn't been much of a problem for them this season.

The committee is explicitly NOT supposed to do that for the top 16 trams. That is NOT part of their job. They are supposed to give a true 1-16 ranking.

Horns at 6 and Ags at 11 is not unreasonable and it checks the other 2 boxes
It's the NCAA generating excitement and making more money is always part of the mission

Plausible ways to increase excitement and save money
USC is the 2 at regional paired with UCLA
USM paired with either Alabama host site
Ags at 11 horns at 6 ; 7/10 also works
UF&FSU at 8/9 or 7/10 order doesn't matter
Nebraska KU takes the other pairing the committee gives KU bonus points for Being a conference champion
Unlikely all of these come to pass and giving KU a national seed is probably the biggest stretch but the committee does like to spread it around and that's one way to prevent the SEC from dominating the 1-10 spots is to give the BDF champs some bonus points
