Interesting, and not the norm. The isolation was the hardest part for my family, way worse than the illness itself. Everything I've seen and was given said 10 days.

Well, I finally feel normal again. No tightness in my chest. Smell and taste mostly back. No fever. Slight stuffy nose but clears up in the afternoon. Today's my day 10, and I'm pretty confident this thing ran its course.

Good luck to the others currently taking this on. Hydrate and rest. Two huge contributors for me.

I'm on Day 8 -- and I think it finally all broke.

Woke up this morning with renewed smell and taste (not all the way back, but much better), head tightness all gone, 02 is 96-98 (it's never gone below that).

The weirdest part of this bug is the mental stuff it does. I'm not sure if it was COVID's last hurrah or what, but last night around 7:30 PM I started feeling like I was having all sorts of crazy symptoms. I went and laid down for a bit, got my mind off of it, and it totally went away. This was after feeling normal for 3-4 hours.

My turn

63 y/o male, 6', ~195#s, HIT at the gym 4 to 5 days a week. Low blood pressure, pule average upper 40s to low 50s, no medications
Had/have been taking the Dr Coates recommended vitamins (Zinc, D, NAIC, etc.) since last summer

Started feeling bad New Year's Day.

Had the grandson (2 yrs) come over that AM (spending the night while mom & dad went out of town) so figured I better get tested. Negative

Still feeling bad Sunday, Monday, Tuesday AM

Went Tuesday to get tested again: Positive, oxygen 98%, pulse 50

Wednesday, not feeling too bad, took Christmas light down off house.

And that was the last day I felt ok until this past Sunday (1/17).

Day after day of no energy, achy all over, slight to moderate fevers. Mild cough after going up the stairs

On 1/12, started HCQ.
1st dose, thought I was prepping for a colonoscopy.
2nd does, mild stomach cramps. Remaining doses, not too bad, just mild stomach discomfort.

Did the HCQ help, or was the virus already on the wane? Don't know, but glad it's basically run its course.

Tested again this past Tuesday (1/19): Negative, with anti-bodies. oxygen 96%, pulse 54

Never lost any sense of smell or taste, but had no appetite and everything tasted off (but to me that's kind of normal when one, at least myself, is sick)

Upside: Lightest I've been in >20 years

Personally, in no hurry to get the vaccine

Glad you're feeling past it! Other than loss of smell/taste and slight congestion, I'm past it too.

Hope tomorrow I have no symptoms (other than possibly the lack of smell/taste which apparently can take a long time).

I have a working theory that people who don't know where they caught it, but have been going to work and/or other public places while masked and socially distanced is that the culprit is public restrooms. We know the virus can be passed in stool and it's been shown that flushing toilets can aerosolize the virus. Aerosols have higher transmissibility than respiratory droplets and wouldn't be stopped by a mask.

It's just a theory anyways.

I avoid public restrooms at all costs after reading into it / and if you must / close the lid before flushing and make sure your eyes are closed or put a towel over them and turn away before flushing. I waited and used the plane restroom before using the public restroom inside the airport that has to be one big fog of junk.

I'm not completely sure, but I think the "I got it from a toilet seat" defense has been debunked.

Update on my covid experience: I'm over a month out now and still have one good day followed by one sort of off day with vertigo, nausea, fatigue. I'm totally functional as far as work and all and have been after the initial two weeks, but it just sucks feeling like crap. For example, Thursday I was pretty well back to normal. Yesterday sucked and I went to bed at 7:30pm.

Still limited taste and smell, but I feel like all the symptoms are reducing...just very slowly. When I'm feeling off, it feels something like having been on a boat offshore for 24 hours and then being back on shore. Tired as all hell, that still on the water motion feeling, and just a minor feeling of sickness like flu.

That'd all be fine if I had some pics of a sailfish or a cooler full of amberjack steaks.

I'm on about Day 8 and pretty much over it. Extremely mild congestion and my smell/taste are coming back.

I've been taking 20,000 IU's of D3 a day -- and 100 MG of Zinc a day -- 50 in the morning, 50 at night.

Looks like we all made it official today, after my 7 year old tested positive a week ago. The wife and I have been congested since earlier in the week, my daughter got tired Monday afternoon and sneezed for a day - that's it.

The 3 of us went and got poked this morning to positive. No fevers for anyone, wife has sinus congestion, I've got a mild cough that started dry Wed and loogie wet yesterday/today - no loss of taste or smell (yet).

Just an update to mine.

I'm pretty much fully recovered. Taste/smell almost all the way back. Now, I just have some lingering congestion -- could just be allergies, though.

It has been a month from onset of very mild symptoms for me. My smell and taste are still very attenuated. Cannot smell onion or cat litter, and the dog had tummy issues last night all over the living room (sorry for the tmi) - came home to it. Had to see it before I even knew there was a problem. Also her problems apparently started in her kennel the night before, only found out about that after she refused to enter the kennel for bed last night because it was all over the blanket and sides of the kennel. My husband (also about a month out from symptoms) could tell there was something wrong before he saw the living room, but otoh had no idea about the kennel.

You would think this would be a positive thing, but now I don't want anyone to visit because I have no idea how my house smells. I usually have a very keen sense of smell, and this really bothers me.

Yeah we ordered pizza last night and I put sriracha on it, but that's all I could taste. Lunch today was just basically texture ... hope it's shorter than longer

For those with sinus congestion, what is helping you? Nasal spray seems to be the only thing that opens up my sinuses to allow me to breath through my nose.

On day 8 of somewhat mild symptoms. No fever since day 3/4. Light dry cough, no smell/taste and moderate sinus congestion (clear mucus) are what I'm dealing with.

Thanks

Im on day 5 of no taste (day 9 overall). I had a SLIGHT taste earlier when I bit into a charred burger. Was really nice.

Otherwise I'm eating a lot of green beans and such since I can't taste em anyway. Just gonna ride it out. Hang in there!

Stumbled upon this today, from Columbia so I figure it must be somewhat legit. Suggests fish oil might help in regaining smell.

New here. Day 4? 5? positive test 3 days ago, but starting having loss of smell a day or so before. Still have taste. Initially congested. Only moderate since then. No fever. Not much cough. Pulse ox 97% consistently. Blood pressure is a good bit higher than normal, even after meds. Had HBP since my 20s. Slightly overweight. Bad fatigue. Sleep 10 hours and have a nap mid day.

Seems like you guys are taking more Vitamin D than me. I was told 6,000/day. Otherwise:
baby aspirin
zinc 100mg/day
Vitamin C 1000 mg
Azithromycin - started that earlier because I initially thought I had a sinus infection/bronchitis. Almost done with dose. Sinus infection and lung tightness gone.
Mucinex
Flonase/Saline - Pretty much do that year round for allergies.
Have an extra Zpac if necessary.

Getting a nebulizer today and one of those cheap lung exercise machines - had one after a long surgery under anesthesia but I guess I threw it away.

I was doing fine until I read about Pelayo. Seen him post on Texags a lot and he was my same age. That kind of hit me like a ton of bricks.

Hey there, thanks for posting here.

Glad to see you have a pulse ox, that will give you accurate info. I typically suggest a media holiday exactly for the reason you described. It is extremely anxiety provoking to read all the bad outcomes. Look at big pic statistics instead, or just stay away. If you can't do that, there is helpful info here. Back awhile someone posted breathing exercises. Find those and do them.

I am 55 and overweight. I was positive Dec 24, along with my husband and 2 other couples, all 50, most 55, 3 overweight. All had very minimal symptoms and did just fine. For every sad story there are multiple stories like mine.

Lay prone if you can, that also helps. Find a show to binge. Anything other than reading headlines about bad outcomes.

Best of luck to you, hoping to hear of continued improvement in the days to come.

So just an update on a few things:
1. Tested positive 12/21
2. Overall mild symptoms with no medical intervention required.
3. Male early 40s - O+ blood type
4. Elevated blood pressure but not off the charts

I've had a few lingering "long hauler" if you will symptoms:
1. Still don't have taste and smell fully back - will try some of the suggestions here.
2. Cough is there, but not bad. I feel very fortunate on the lung side and do NOT experience shortness of breath. Been running or walking around 3 miles a day.

Little more scary items for me (and I do have some anxiety).
1. Heart racing / feel like it is beating hard (almost like someone hitting your chest). There were times of this probably around week 4-5 that just felt this way. I saw a cardiologist and Ultrasound and EKG came back normal. They mentioned seeing many patients with similar post-covid effects. Their standard protocol has been ultrasound and heart monitor for 2-3 days. Still waiting on heart monitor results, but overall feel thankful.
2. Acid Reflux - I HIGHLY encourage taking Pepcid AC during COVID. I have had more indigestion as some of my taste has come back. Been on pepcid going on almost 2 weeks and will stop at 14 days.

Other than that, I feel blessed to have overall mild symptoms.

Hope you continue to improve.

One thing to consider is an Apple Watch (or heart rate monitor) to see your rate in real time. Maybe help, along with your positive recent test results, to lower your anxiety if it's at all relating to your feeling of phases of high rates.

Monday - Take 2 year old daughter for rapid test after she developed a bad cough over the weekend and we also received an email Sunday afternoon that three staff members at her day care tested positive. She came back negative

Day 1 of symptoms
Tuesday - get home from work in the afternoon and start having body aches. Feeling really tired. Couldn't sleep well at all. Couldn't ever get warm and constant shivering even under three blankets.

Day 2
Wednesday - woke up with a fever and body aches. Get a rapid test done that came back positive. Eyes are red and burning, kidney pain, a little congestion and one of the worst headaches I've ever had. Take ivermectin and a zpack. Tried to sleep as much as possible

Day 3
Today - woke up with a headache still, drank coffee and took ibuprofen. Headache was gone quickly. Feel 100 times better than I did yesterday. Have a cough from time to time, but nothing too bad. Having to make multiple trips to the potty, I'm assuming this is a side effect of the zpack. I also started taking a steroid this morning.

Five and a half weeks in and remaining symptoms are still slightly reduced taste and smell, rare vertigo/nausea spells, less fatigue daily, but still pretty intense joint pain in the hips and shoulders.

Overall, week five was the corner for me and the best I've felt since before Christmas.

I didn't have a single symptom other than loss of taste and smell for the first 13 days. Went back to work day 12. Day 14 I had bad chills. Headache. Fever. Went to doc. Did blood work and flu test. Had flu and pneumonia. Pneumonia related to covid. Sent back to quarantine and rest for 5 days.

I feel fine today except for the stomach issues. Don't know if it's due to the virus or a side effect of the drugs.
