I'm hoping Aldrich and Jessica do well enough to make the relays and Shelbi has the throw of her life to get to London. Go AGs !!!

GO NATOSHA!

I love the way Natosha likes to stay in the front. I don't think she can make the A standard but hope she does the best she can.

Gotta believe she used up her kick recovering from that fall...

WOW. What a race by Natosha. Really wish that she would not have fallen to see whether she could have pushed that 15 seconds off the time.

Natosha has to be the Aggie Woman athlete of the year. She dropped another 40 seconds off her time. If the trials were a few weeks later she might have made it.

That was amazing! It is so awesome to think where her distance career may be headed after only 4 races now at the 10K distance. She may have a chance to become a star in American distance running, that would be so cool to watch!

So if she had won it but been over a 31:45, she still wouldn't qualify??

Correct, have to have the A standard to compete at the Olympics. That is why you see some countries with so few athletes at the Olympics, it's not that they don't have anyone in their country to compete, they just don't have anyone that has met the minimum Olympic standard.

I assume that Flanagan and the 3rd place girl had run a 31:45 before tonight?

Right.

But she just got 2nd at our national championship!!!

That recovery was much too fast, and surely hurt her, but I don't think she was getting the A standard either way.

Still a hell of a race by Natosha, not a bad day for the Aggies.

You can qualify one runner if they met the B standard and you have no one who met the A standard.

Yes, but Flanagan isn't running this event in London. There were two others who have posted the A standard, so they'll make up the team.

TXAggie2011 makes a great point. 2nd place at the national championship against the best distance runners in the country in only her 4th time at the distance. She runs to win every time. During the indoor season I was so impressed the way she attacked the track. There a site called FLOtrack I think that showed interviews with her after the NCAA 10k. It's time that Texags, 12th Man Magazine or the Eagle step up and do a story on her.

That was one of the most amazing races and toughest athletic feats I've ever seen in my entire life. There aren't words to aptly describe how difficult what she just did was. Aggies everywhere should be unspeakably proud of that young woman.

I sincerely hope our local media go back and take a look at what she did and give her her just due.

Natosha was incredible!!! She gained a lot of respect from the racing community andgot A&M a lot of air time.

Is there a deadline for making the A standard before the Olympics? Maybe she can find a race somewhere to give her the opportunity. After finishing 2nd she deserves it more than the 2 that she beat tonight who have the A standard.

The deadline for having the A standard is the trials.

Great performance by Natasha. My wife and I were rooting for her. She had a great year. She went to nationals in cross country and set multiple records on the track.

I agree that she deserves a lot more press.

She was brilliant. Also posted over in Billy's section. I'm sure to get ripped as it is a football and SEC section but her performance merits the attention. Vaughn was also very impressive in her qualifying efforts. She still needs an A standard but could get it if the weather is decent for the finals.

NBCSN is replaying Friday's events right now.

The ultimate deadline posted by the IAAF is July 8. But each National Olympic Committee can set the deadline to be even earlier. For example, Florida's steeplechase runner met the A standard earlier this month but the Australian committee had a very early deadline and refused to send her initially and now it's a big mess.

Still a good run. lots of potential

That Australian is headed to the Olympics now HJ and our deadline has been extended but a huge mess. Fun Fact: The florida girl just about committed to be an Aggie, but still had her Florida visit.....and realized it was just like home and went there instead.

Very good article about Natosha on Aggie Athletics this morning. I love how she is so positive. I watched the replay and I timed her last mile in 4:49.

I posted this on the H&F thread, list of former, current, and future A&M athletes at the meet. I've added updates to reflect yesterday's performances...

100 meters - Prezel Hardy, Jr.
Qualified with a 10.11, going to have to slip some afterburners into his shoes to make the team

200 meters - Prezel Hardy, Jr.
20.33, better, but again, doesn't look like a legit threat to the top runners

400 meters - Aldrich Bailey
45.19, high schooler from Arlington, just won the US junior championships

UPDATE: 45.59 in first round, easily into semifinals.

800 meters - Michael Preble
1:46.53, good chance at making it out of the first round, outside chance at making finals

UPDATE: Made it out of the first round by way of third in his heat, will need to run much better to make the finals

Long Jump - Tyron Stewart
8.21, looking to make the final

UPDATE: 7.50 meters, 18th in prelims, eliminated

Javelin - Sam Humphreys
79.98, has a chance, but it'll take his very best

100 meters - Ashley Collier, Dominique Duncan, Jeneba Tarmoh, Ashton Purvis
11.01 for Collier, if she finds her best, she can make the final and see what happens. Tarmoh will have to fight to make the final.

UPDATE: Tarmoh got 2nd in her heat with an 11.16, Collier misses out by running 4th in her heat, Duncan and Purvis also narrowly missed out

200 meters - Ashley Collier, Dominique Duncan, Porscha Lucas, Jeneba Tarmoh
22.51 for Tarmoh, she could make the final, 22.65 for Lucas, Collier and Duncan probably don't have enough to go far at the meet

400 meters - Jessica Beard
51.19, has been consistent lately, got 3rd at Prefon, a little luck and she's an darkhorse Olympian

UPDATE: 51.75 in prelims, 2nd in her heat, easily into semis. Looks like she has the form that she might make the relay team, at least

10,000 meters - Natosha Rogers
32:41.63, she'll just want to be able to hang with the pack

UPDATE: She sure did hang with the pack, finished on the podium at the national championships...it was the performance of the day at the meet. She did not attain an A standard, so she will not go to London

100 Hurdles - Donique' Flemings
13.00, she's running for the semi-finals

UPDATE: Eliminated in first round with a 13.3, 5th in her heat

Discus - Shelbi Vaughan
60.59, high schooler, consistently breaking her own national records. She'll look to make the finals and then might need a little bit of luck.

UPDATE: Made it easily out of prelims, still looks like she'll need a little luck to make the podium and certainly to hit the 62m A standard.

Javelin - Laura Asimakis
51.93, provisional qualifier, might need to find about 3 or 4 meters
