Been thinking about the team rosters of the recent top tier teams… with Maya Joint stating she plans to make it to t.u.'s campus the SEC will have the top 3 teams in the country. Us, Georgia, and tu all are real title contenders and will be duking it put in the same conference. Crazy! I feel like the doubles point is going to be all the more crucial for all 3 teams as there might not be enough advantages on singles courts to take 4 singles matches.

Three of the five t-sip freshmen are still playing out of the country this week. Maybe they will enroll in January, maybe they won't make it this year, maybe they'll try to follow the Carson plan. (That doesn't sound too much like a college experience to me, but to each their own).

Meanwhile, our entire freshman signing class is on campus with the rest of the team.

On an unrelated note: Jennifer is the #5 seed in Knoxville this week. UT's Elza Tomase and Catherine Aulia as well as UGA's Aysegul Mert are also in the tournament. She will play the LAST MATCH ON COURT 4 today.

Jackson takes the 1st set 6-4. This is my first time watching her and i'm very impressed. powerful off the ground and serve, you can't leave her time n her forehand because she'll make you pay. If she can take steps of improvement with her shot selection on neutral and rally balls she will win a ton of matches for us. I think she makes an immediate impact this spring.

Jackson wins 6-4 7-5. after being down 2-5 in the 2nd I was really impressed by her resolve.

I have a very small sample size, but she seems like a focused and even keeled player who doesn't let her emotions get too high or too low. I still think she would take huge steps with better shot selection, where I think she could go after the ball more. When she did decide to go after it about 80% of the time it was a clean winner and the other 20% wasn't even all errors. Movement wasn't great, but i don't know if today was off. Overall, watching her today made me really excited for what she can bring during her career here!

Mizzou has released their schedule and according to it we go back to Columbia on March 14th. If those traveling pairs are true for everyone then florida, georgia, corndog, tennessee, and t.u. are all on seperate weeks.

Just as I thought. Stanford promotes their longtime associate head coach to head coach and director of women's tennis. This seemed pretty straight forward and obvious for Stanford.

I am hearing that this is just a one year trial run. Needless to say, but pretty hard to screw this job up.

That would be crazy if true. Probably need to remove the interim tag for recruiting purposes

Stanford's only ranked recruit for this freshman year hasn't seemed to waiver [yet]. They got commitments from the numbers 3, 4, and 5 recruits for next year's class since late July, one of those after Lele's retirement was announced. They are going to be fine no matter who coaching.

I am more curious about the timing of the retirement announcement, but it probably has something to do with politics or timing with the contract financially.

that's a difficult question. She can't officially compete for SMU in the fall because she's not taking classes there. However, any tournament she plays in this fall will be on A&M's expense and I don't think we pay for that knowing she's out the door and competing just down the road in the spring. I know there are no ill feelings towards Ellie form the team, or us fans and we all wish her the best at SMU. But there's nothing she can really do till she gets there

I have heard that she waited to retire until it was not feasible for them to do a bonafide search and the girls were back on campus to lobby to the administration for him. It would be very difficult to get the type of candidates they want to interview during the school year much less leave their current team once the year has already started. He (Frank Jr.) was her long-time assistant and she was his dad's (Frank Sr.) assistant coach before she became the HC, so it makes sense that she would do everything possible to help get him the job.

Like it or not, most schools prefer to hire a female for women's tennis and it seems like that would be even more the case at Stanford so the interim thing makes sense especially if they feel they were bushwhacked into hiring him.
