Found the results from today's matches on the hawai'i website. The only match we lost was mia/Daria vs. #7 Fairclough/Piper, the match ended 7-3 in the tiebreaker.

Heads up: Mary and Carson are scheduled to play in the (USA) W35 Palm Coast, FL next week and (USA) W75 Vero Beach, FL the week after. If it comes down to it, I think we can get through ITA Kickoff weekend against South Florida and TCU/Denver winner without Mary.

There WILL come a time when we have to compete without Mary. I was just sort of hoping it wouldn't start this year. Losing Carson but having her return was a God send. In my opinion that was the key to us winning it all. Talking about NOT having Mary for the Kickoff Weekend, I am VERY appreciative of our depth, but I don't know if we're THAT deep. If that's the way it plays out (without having Mary on the court for us) then so be it. But it definitely will be a true test for our ladies.

I completely agree but am still recovering from the San Diego match last year.

To be fair, USD did upset a ton of teams last year and we injuries that match! It could be worse, see Stanford lol

Mary is in the qualifying. MD starts on 1/21. Odds of her still playing on the 24th are slim.

Dang Lulu is tearing up those ranked players. Good for her. Good results for day 3. Went 8-1. Lost one doubles match. Won all singles matches.

It was a good week for the ladies! We dominated a good USC team without our best player. Anyone think Lulu takes over #3 in the lineup over MIA?

if Lulu does jump mia for the 3 line then this team is even better than people think. we would have a girl who has been ranked in the top 20 previously as our 4 line. Lulu has probably had a top 5 most impressive summer/fall out of all college players (including Maya joint in there). Lulu's only losing an it's/ncaa event this year was to Faikh who could end up playing #1 for the #5 UCLA. Regardless, whoecverbplays 4 for us will probably go undefeated this year up until Georgia, however I don't think coaches will let Georgia put Lopata at 4 again this year so that spot is more vulnerable for georgia.

Mell will very likely be their #4 which is also crazy good. She beat Nicole in the SEC finals before Nicole got sweet redemption in the NCAA final. She's beat Mia before too but I believe Mia has gotten her a few times - including the clinching "that's three" match back in 2023.

We played Georgia four times last year. We will definitely be meeting them again for our title aspirations.

definitely the 2 deepest top 4s in the country. i don't think mel has beaten mia though. Mia got the 2 match ups last year being at indoors and the marathon at georgia, those 2 plus the overrule greatness i believe puts mia 3-0 against mel. I actually think the mia is the best on our team to counter Mel and lulu with how she's playing is the best to counter lopata. If those are the head to head matchups when we play georgia, i like the odds for us (plus playing at home).

Another amateur observation. Are you guys tired of them yet? And to make it worse, last Spring I was only lurking but not this Spring! <huge grin>

Last year the Mary/Mia and Nicole/Jeanette pairs worked great. But this being 'preseason', Mary not being available because of the pro tournaments and Carson gone the coaches would be 'having a look' at a lot of pairings. So I was looking forward to Hawaii. And, of course, to the rest of 'preseason'.

With Daria stepping up this past Fall I was wondering about a Daria/Mia pairing 'look see' with Mary temporarily out of the picture, knowing that the Mary/Mia pairing would be the 'go to' top pairing.

And with Lulu's partner gone and Lex on the scene I also wondered about Lulu/Lex and Nicole/Lex pairing up, another 'look see'. After all, getting that first point in doubles is always very important.

Did not get to see Nicole/Lex, but Mia/Daria went 1-1 whilst Lulu/Lex went 2-0. With today's matches still to go.

But not reading anything in to this because the coaching staff knows a heck of a lot more about tennis and their players than I do!

I will add this - that SO Lulu and FR Lex will be here this season and two more makes it even better, paired or not. After all, they will be the 'core' of the team in the future. And next year will have Jennifer to plug in somewhere. And probably a couple of additions.

Regardless, looking forward to another year of outstanding tennis in Aggieland !! WHOOP !!!

Mel got her in straight sets at the SEC tournament final in 2023. Agree Mia is a good matchup.

I cannot confirm anything but I believe mary won't miss ita kick off weekend. we will play walkons against PV in singles i imagine our 5 line or lower playing 1 then. as for doubles if daria isn't slotted to play with another person and the pairing of lex/lulu and nicole/jeanette stick then daria will just play with mia at 1 against PV. Doubles is harder to get a read on as a coach it's also sets the tone of the match so we'll see our best doubles that's available out there to start

If Lopata is not playing line 2 for Georgia, I will have a serious problem with it. Conveniently she's been injured and they might use that as excuse for her to play lower. Mel is a solid player, but I cannot stand how badly she cheats. You could see how she folds when she realizes she can't get away with it on a televised broadcast.

She will play 2 or 3. Big gap between her and Mell now which wasn't the case 12 months ago. They are strong enough where stacking isn't needed, unfortunately.

Will make it that much more fun when we beat them at home! I'll definitely be at the Georgia (home) and Texas (away) matches.
