Yeah Brian. Might be my favorite post credits scene in a Marvel movie yet.

More thoughts without spoilers? The spoilers thread is getting all the action! I hope to go see it later this week

Blink's teleporting effect looked awesome

a half-assed explanation of how Kitty could send someone's consciousness back in time would have been nice

Probably the best one.

Can someone summarize post credits? I had to bolt before the end.

So, any comments on Dinklage's role? Seems like a pretty big breakthrough for little people. You could've casted a normal sized person and not changed a single line in the script. I thought that was cool and maybe historic. I can't think of another movie I've seen where a little person wasn't casted specifically to play a little person role.

Definitely a step forward. Though after watching Dinklage play Tyrion so well (especially the last 2 episodes), Trask wasn't exactly the character to show your acting chops. But a good step forward nonetheless.

Bumping because this is such a good movie.

I rank it 3rd out of the X-men franchise, what about you?

My favorite X-Men movie, unless you consider Dealpool an X-Men movie.

Really? I go Logan and then X2 before this one. I wasn't counting Deadpool's.

My rankings would be…

Tier 1: Logan / First Class
Tier 2: X2 / both Deadpool movies
Tier 3: Days of future past, The Wolverine
Tier 4: x-men
Tier 5: X3, Wolverine origins
Didn't even watch them: Apocalypse, Phoenix, new mutants.

lots of ties, so I broke them into tiers.
There's a big gap between tiers 2 and 3.
Thanks and gig'em

X1
X2
Logan
The Wolverine
First Class
Deadpool 2
Deadpool
X3
Dark Phoenix
Apocalypse
Wolverine Origins
New Mutants

Of course this is all re-ranking in 2023, not "for its time."
- Deadpool's bit is pretty familiar by now and a lot of the jokes are duds, but for 2016 it was pretty awesome.
- X1 deserves so much credit for kicking this whole thing off.
- Logan is great and the Wolverine is underrated but both have surprisingly silly final villains. Everyone says that about the Wolverine but I think it's true of Logan as well.
- Dark Phoenix is probably worse than Apocalypse but what they do with the character of Apocalypse is so, so bad that it drops the film IMO. Both are undeniably bland. Dark Phoenix's villains are stale bread; Apocalypse, Archangel and Psylocke are hot dog ****.
- Wolverine Origins is bad but at least it's fun. Almost "so bad it's good". New Mutants is just bad. Not fun at all.
- Lastly, I have a real love/hate with First Class. The Magneto stuff is so good. The Beast and Mystique stuff is so bad. Sitting around and giving each other superhero names and "let me show you MY powers" is so cheesy and on the nose. I can't quite put my finger on it - it deserves a lot of credit for reviving the franchise but I don't enjoy watching it at all.

If they gave us a "Magneto, Nazi hunter" movie, I'd be so in.

I'd say your ranking almost nailed it. X2 needs to be above X1 though.

I agree that it wasn't top shelf but I think that the New Mutants wasn't as bad as everyone says. Maybe I'm biased from too many New Mutants and X-Force comics but it wasn't THAT bad.

X2 has 3 of the greatest superhero movie scenes of all-time packed into its first 90 minutes. Nightcrawler in the White House, Magneto escaping prison, and Wolverine taking on Logan Roy's forces singlehandedly in the mansion. And I loved that Colossus cameo in X2, although X3 should be forgotten by all. The problem those movies had was sidelining Professor X (or killing him) to make the plot work.

I didn't see FIrst Class in the theater but was stunned how good it was. Probably the best representation of how amazing Magneto's powers are, and the Nazi killing scene in South America is the best.

Days of Future Past is also really good, even when you realize that Charles does absolutely nothing but ***** the whole time. Another amazing Magneto escape scene.
