How did you watch the scene where Kido confesses to Trade Minister that he knew about his part in orchestrating the espionage with Wegner to ensure a cold war, and would take it to his grave by performing Sepukku in order to protect the world (or something along those lines), and not instantly feel for the character despite his Gestapo tactics?



The more I think of it, the more the (sub)plot of protecting the world by instigating a Cold War through the smuggling of the "Heisenberg Device" plans sticks out as an incredible story line.

It made me forget that he gassed kids earlier in the show. Pretty incredible scene. He's been so stoic the whole series and I could've sworn you saw him crack just a little.

It isn't like they were human kids

Kinda crazy to think how different living in that reality would be. Besides the obvious occupation by the Nazis, the world would have never had the civil rights movement, The Beatles, etc etc. It's hard to even relate to the Americans who are living in that reality because our worlds since the 40's are so different.

I love the little details.

The Marshall should have been a good character with a good performance, but it was a terrible charter with a horrible performance, which is sad because the actor is normally really good.

Was I the only one that thought the Japanese collector couple was bringing the shop owner over for a 3way?

Yea that Japanese couple scene still seems a little weird to me. Did I miss something? I kept expecting something to happen because they were acting so weird.

The Japanese collector couple was a plot device to further the story as far as I can tell. Without them, the retailer guy doesn't want to sell them a fake piece, Frank doesn't get 46,000 yen, Joe dies with the Yakuza, etc... That said, it was an awkward scene.

It was just meant as them wanting to "study" an American so that they could further understand the native culture. He was treated as if he was one of his pieces.

I agree with those that say the little details are great on this show. It's not the best written/acted show, but is a super interesting idea with nice touches on all the details/background.

The style and plot devices remind me a lot of Fringe.

And I liked Fringe.

So... Is Hitler the man in the high castle?

Seems like it. He has all of the movies and certainly lives in a high castle. Does make me wonder who the leader in the Neutral Zone is.

But if he were the man in the high castle, wouldn't that mean that the resistance and the Nazis were fighting each other for the right to deliver the films to the same person?

I thought the the woman was bringing him over for some alone time.

How the film's are crossing between, I have no idea.

So where are the films coming from? That's what still confuses me.

I could see that. Maybe Hitler brought a bunch with him when he crossed? I.E. he time traveled back to the 20s, from his bunker at the end of the war, killed younger Hitler (THUS STILL FOLLOWING RULE 1 of TIME TRAVEL, EHRMAGERD!!!!!), bringing back with him a set of films to convince his comrades to take a different course and to use as a reference.

Also he uses the films as a device to keep the resistance (and his SS) in check, and to leak to the resistance what intel he wants to release to them either to appease them or get them to do his bidding.

Or Einstein is sending them across kinda like in Command & Conquer: Red Alert!

Would make sense as to why he was so open to hiring the girlfriend/fiance of a known subversive who tried to assassinate the Crown Prince.

Any chance future seasons of this take place in a different time period? Would be cool to see the 80s-90s and then current day

Just finished. Loved the details...like the taxi showing rates in kilometers instead of miles. Looking forward to the next season.

Interesting show although I'll be a little disappointed if this is just Fringe 2.0 with the connected universes or Lost 2.0 where we get a bunch of questions and no good answers.

The film showing Joe killing Frank can't be from either the show's universe nor our own. It can't be from their's because Frank is obviously still alive. It can't be from ours because the war ended in the 40s and that killing would have to take place in the 60s. I guess there is a third universe where WW2 is still going in the 60s?
