I think "The Resistance" is controlled by Hitler. It's a controlled pressure relief vale for discontent.

Also, I just realized at the very end that the Trade Minister was visiting the alternate realty every time he sat in his chair and meditated. He was using Juliana's necklace to do so, but he only found the necklace on the ground after the assassination attempt. What did he use before that?

Also, Hitler is obviously collecting the films. So why did they send Joe to the neutral zone with a film?why did they not just give the film to Hitler? Are the films that the resistance collecting also going to Hitler? If so, aren't they working towards the same goal? If they are, then why is Joe an undercover operative trying to identify the resistance? Shouldn't the nazis be supporting the resistance in their efforts to collect the films? Or, are the Resistance trying to get the films to someone other than Hitler?

Also, Obergruppenfuhrer Smith is fantastic. What a great character. He reminds me of my old boss. Just an uncanny ability to always make you feel uncomfortable.

Oh and cool seeing Shang Tsung back on screen.

Loved it! One of the first shows in some time that I'm excited to go back and re-watch.

Great theories here. Interesting storyline for sure.

I actually thought that the acting was pretty poor apart from Smith. In the first few episodes Juliana's reaction when her sister dies is apathetic as is Frank's when he learns of his Sister and her Children's death (at least until the Jewish prayer which I thought was very well acted).

I don't buy the argument that the Resistance is just a relief valve giving people something to do. If that's the case then why would Hitler assign Smith the mission of collecting the films? I think someone is bringing them back from the alternate universe to undermine Hitler's authority (maybe the Trade Minister? We know he tried to get Heisenberg plans to the Science Minister) and Smith had to send Joe with a film to infiltrate the Resistance and get to their stash of films, or perhaps, more importantly, find out where they're coming from.

I think they're being passed on through the Resistance to the "Man in the High Castle" who the last episode would have you believe is Hitler, but I'm not convinced that that's the case. Remember Smith telling Joe that if he met the Man in the High Castle to, "put a bullet in his brain." I'm also not entirely sure that Joe is 100% a Nazi agent. I think he could actually be a deep undercover Resistance agent (recall him shooting the Nazi in episode 1 when he knew they were going to overwhelm the machine shop and kill everyone eventually). But I could be totally wrong. The Hitler dad theory mentioned above is interesting.

Enjoyed it but the end with the film showing Joe killing everyone was weird. I am interested to see where they go with it.

Going to rewatch the entire series this time with the wife.

Suggest that ya'll get on Amazon and buy the book. It is fascinating, different but adds some info on what happened in the 40's.

Will it give away where the show is headed?

I read the first couple of chapters, and it was nothing like the TV show. I gave up on the book.

I know that doesn't answer your question other than to point out that early on, there wasn't much similarity.

Just finished Season One. Took me a few days. Can't wait for season two, and I have no idea where this is going. Strange how they manage to get you to care about characters who are pretty monstrous.

Yeah, that is a neat feat about this show. You really care about the outcomes of pretty terrible people.

Amazing show with great acting. I especially love how much I hated and then admired Kido. I love Smith as well and can see his world beginning to crumble with the diagnosis of his son's disease. I don't know if that will actually happen but him pondering the idea of having to euthanize his son and as a father I can relate and understand him not willing to do that (if that is where they take it).

Just a great show all around.
