Oh my god dude, it was a slip up. Not to mention what I posted is made abundantly clear in the trailer.

But I'll let it go lest you go on another tirade against me.

This issue comes up for every movie.

Why not just create a ALL SPOILERS ALL MOVIES thread. And that is where posters post spoiler stuff the first "week" of a new release for any and all movies . Have staff create a sticky explanation, and let it rip.

Yeah, and you never b*tch about anything. I'm the crazy one for asking for common courtesy.

We tried that and then people complained that there were too many threads. Trust me, that's what I would love more than any of this nonsense.

I was referring to "THE MOTHER OF ALL SPOILERS" type of thread. I single thread to be used for opening weekend for every movie, then comments move back to any dedicated threads.

I could have missed it or maybe there were edits but I don't see anything that egregious posted. I saw it tonight and thought it was very very good.

One thing that stuck with me throughout the film was I did not think Ving Rhames looked healthy. He is only three years older than Cruise, crazy...

Question:

I have not seen the last three MI movies.

Would I miss out on too much just skipping to this one?

For your own personal decency watch the last three MI films.

not a huge TC fan, but the reviews for this have been very strong, so I am interested.

There are a significant amount of references to the last three films. I would recommend you see all three so you care about all of the characters / storylines presented. Or say f it and just go to enjoy the action - either will work depending on your preference

Tom Cruise is the f***ing man in these films. If you can put your personal biases aside and appreciate what he does as an actor while watching these movies you'll be blown away.

I'll admit, he's a GD weirdo. But holy lord he makes amazing action films.

I haven't been this stoked for a movie in maybe years, and then I come across the story below on the eve of finally heading to the theater for an experience of which I know I'm going to be in awe. I love Tom Cruise so much. Top Gun was the first movie I ever remember seeing in theaters, and since then, Cruise has and always will be my all-time favorite movie star. But man, more often than not it is so hard to get past the fact that he's still basically the figurehead of one of the most dispicable organizations on the planet. I will never not be incredibly conflicted over that, and have to admit, a reminder of this nature definitely dampens my anticipation for tomorrow. I just don't understand how someone so genuinely nice, affable, and caring (according to literally hundreds of first-hand reports and experiences) can continue not only to be involved with something like Scientology, but mentally and physically be gravitating toward it even more now...

I wonder if he would escape if he could. Is he in so far that he can't get out? You know they have stuff on him from those audits they do.

Honestly, when I'm watching Tom Cruise in a movie, I don't even think about the Scientology stuff. Maybe I should but I don't.

Spoiler Free Thoughts

Wife and I saw it in IMAX yesterday and thought it was great, if slightly overhyped. Fantastic looking movie. The action scenes are simply incredible - almost too good. I was so distracted trying to figure out how in the hell they pulled some of the off, and I can't wait to see a behind the scenes on how they were done. It was fun having Ving Rhames in a larger than usual role. Cavil was awesome, too. Think y'all will enjoy it.

Also, I'm in full support of Cavill as Bond. I think he'd do a great job

He came in 2nd to Craig when they rebooted back in the day. Producers felt he was too young at the time. Also, if you've seen him in The Man From U.N.C.L.E., he's so suave it's ridiculous.
I'm all for Cavill as Bond. I think I'm done with Craig and not looking forward to the next as I usually would. Cavill would be great. You get the old style looks and charm of Connery / Bronsan / etc.... but you also get the kick as power of Craig. He would be perfect.

The restroom fight scene was pretty awesome in Fallout. Straight out of a Bond movie.

That sequence was fantastic. It's the kinda thing that could have been really boring or generic but was just SO incredibly well shot and staged.

I used to feel some conflict about it as well, but at the end of the day, "It's not who you are underneath, it's what you do that defines you."

There's just too many stories and accounts of what a great guy he is. From fellow actors, to crew members, to fans. So at the end of the day he is a cool, respectable guy and the most dedicated movie star in Hollywood, who just happens to be member of a very weird and shady organization.

When all the evidence points to him being a great guy personally, I find it pretty easy to just forget about the rest.

Trust me, you 're going to love this movie and Scientology will be the last thing on your mind.

And the way McQuarrie shot those action sequences to include the natural beauty of the locale and the landmarks of the cities, like a global travelogue... this also sets it apart from most action movies. It's so beautiful that you want the shots to last longer than they do.

See this in IMAX if you can.

Leah Remini would beg to differ but the movie was freaking fantastic and not once did I care that he was a scientologist.

I think the reason we don't think of his involvement is because it's been seemingly a decade since he's even mentioned his membership.

He (well, the Church I think) has wisely decided to not bring it up anymore. The only ones bringing up his involment anymore are those documentaries.

Saw it last night. This is as tightly constructed, thrilling, and well-made as everyone is saying. What really got me though is they attempted to develop Ethan Hunt's character a little, which was missing from the previous films. In a way, this is The Winter Soldier of the Mission Impossible seriesan examination of a character through their moral fortitude in a corrupt world. That and the set pieces are just thrilling, building on one other in an organic way.

That being said, I do think people need to tap the breaks a little on comparing it to Fury Road or any other classic. It's good, really good, often great, but it's a little too locked into formula to really reach those heights. Regardless, it's probably the new best in the series.

My brake lines are cut. I absolutely believe this was arguably the greatest action film of all time.

Have to add something after my second viewing, and it cannot be stressed enough:

This movie MUST be seen on IMAX.

Also, can't help but think of The Dark Knight when they are extracting Lane from the police escort.

In fact, I swear that even the musical cue is right of TDK during that scene. If done on purpose then it's a cool tip of the hat. The entire score was great.

I take 100% of the credit for Quinn's love of Fury Road.
