Friday afternoon at the IMAX at Northpark Mall in Dallas. Can't wait!
honestly, i think the gap between 3, 4 and 5 is pretty slim. i wouldn't argue with anybody who has those three in a different order than i do.TCTTS said:
I started rewatching M:I3 last night, then finished over lunch today, and have to say, it's the second best of the series, behind Rogue Nation and ahead of Ghost Protocol. I'm changing my order. I hadn't seen it in years, but it's just so damn good. It moves at a faster pace than any other in the series, the action is better than I remembered, and most of all, it has so much great emotion. More than any of the others by far.
I had rewatched only Ghost Protocol and Rogue Nation recently as primers for Fallout, thinking I could skip part three, but I'm so glad I went back. Ghost Protocol is great, but it's pretty basic, all things considered, and just a little dry. Again, it has the best set/action piece of the franchise, no doubt, but I'd now put M:I3 above it. Abrams absolutely killed it, on his first ever at bat. So impressive.
yeah, Renner's Brandt character has been strange. in GP, they gave him a skill set damn near on par with Ethan. they made him feel like part of the team at the end and i thought the character gave them some interesting options going forward. but then in RN, they largely bury him in bureaucracy to debate Alex Baldwin. so yeah, i don't think we're missing much not having him in Fallout.Brian Earl Spilner said:
As for Renner, he's been ok but I don't feel like that much is lost with him gone in 6. I'd prefer if Patton's character came back in the future.
I'm trying to get in on Friday night.Quinn said:

oh yeah, i'd blocked that from my memoryBrian Earl Spilner said:
I think I remember reading that he took a step back in MI5 because they expected him to take over the Bourne franchise.
And then it didn't happen.

Short version: it's a blast.
Funnier than expected, absolutely insane stunts, and just 2+ hours of straight adrenaline. It also feels a bit more grounded, we don't get loads of crazy face swapping or super techy things that save the day.
The two big action pieces are just nuts, and the big chase sequence had me literally ducking in my seat. Might be my fave of the series.
