Critic reviews are terrible but user ratings on metacritic are actually favorable. The show has had interesting episodes and really has been completely different from what I expected.

Last night's episode was awesome! I laughed several times, especially at the "practical joke" scenes.

Spoilers below:

Can anyone explain to me the ending where they destroy the worm hole? Pria disappears, but the captain still seems like he remembers what happened. Could just be bad acting, but I'm trying to get the timeline of events, but it doesn't make much sense.

Best episode yet.

Funny the practical jokes were a riot. And watching Seinfeld at the start was really clever.

Actually well written and it played out in a logical way.

Kinda played with the ST first directive concept but with a twist. It was well done.

Liking the personalities and interaction of a lot of characters.

This show gets better and better with every episode. I'm really glad I gave it a chance.

It's Star Trek that doesn't take itself seriously.

I love them watching TV on the Bridge.

That was awesome lol

Kind of funny this show may end up doing better with viewership than ST discovery due to the stupid cbs all access crap.

It's so light hearted it's hard to not like it. Any big nitpicks can be ignored because it's not supposed to be serious accurate space drama. I could see this show going 5+ seasons with the potential for cameos and comedians to play in roles like the show will provide. Can you imagine key and peel, bill burr, or hell.. even Jeff Ross having roles?

So I rewatched and think I understand their resolution.

He destroyed wormhole because it closes the hole literally for any future variations giving them one fixed timeline. Going forward.

It doesn't reverse anything that has happened on their timeline including being saved and they can of course remember it all because it did happen.

The reason she disappears is not literally because the wormhole makes her not exist. It is because once the wormhole is closed there is no reason for her to come back in the first place. In fact if she does she is stuck there.

She actually mentions that they will never meet. Now that's a bit of a paradox but basically they will remember meeting her but never actually did. She disappears because now she never chose to come back.

But they are alive because she did come back initially.

So she never said they would not remember her she just said they would never have met.

And if you notice she did not disappear immediately. It was more like contemplating what he did and then deciding that yeah she neve would have come back given the destruction of the wormhole in the future.

Still not completely clean though.

I agree but did anyone else notice that his leg was removed below the knee, but the leg that fell from the ceiling was removed from the thigh? I didn't care, I still loved the gag - I just noticed it.

Also, as soon as the joke was him removing his leg, I called it that they were going to have some gag about his small foot or growing foot or something. I laughed out loud when they showed his disgusting little leg.

I think this show is great.

Last two episodes were great. I thought the fourth episode (the giant ship) was very, very well done (albeit a bit rushed, I feel like it could've been a two parter) that really felt like Star Trek.

Really liked the most recent one too with the time traveling. Was not really expecting a twist like that.

Like many others have said, just worried it wont get renewed. Fox doesn't have the best track record when it comes to sci-fi.
CNN is an enemy of the state and should be treated as such.

Does Fox even cancel Seth Macfarlane shows? Seems like he can do whatever he wants.

I mean who the hell watches American Dad and The Cleveland Show?

I actually called it half-heartedly to my wife...

Me: (in passing) Watch Isaac take it way to far like, Lt Whatshisface wakes up with his leg gone, and Isaac's all "I totally got you back!"

I keep watching. I (like many) thought it was just going to be jokes and slapstick, but then it got serious WITH little bits of humor, some well timed.

Honestly... I like the show. For the show itself and not "OMG it's so funny haha gotta keep watching to see what crazy antics are next" because that's not what it's supposed to be. Very unexpected but I find myself watching it like a legit space exploration show...with Kermit the Frog and D jokes.

Caught up with the last 2 last night. I thought maybe he would not remember because she asks him if he's OK with being a guy who is still not over his ex.

The wormhole was usable for time travel because it was stable. By destroying it, the future people never go back at all, ever. Time travel plots always have paradoxes. The two I saw were:
  • She says she chose them because they would have been destroyed anyway. But her going there and faking the distress call changed their timeline.
  • There's a loop paradox - if she can't go back to their time they never know to destroy the wormhole and prevent her from traveling in time.

I liked the other episode too even though the plot hole for what the Union plan was for their mission was worse than the time travel paradoxes. What was the extraction plan? It will be interesting to see how far they keep going in the Krill/ISIS analogy.

It's definitely been renewed for a second season. My uncle is the co-executive producer and has already been asked by Macfarlane to do the second season.

Seth is living on borrowed time. He was hungover and missed his flight from Boston to LA. It was one of the 9/11 planes.

But he did fail to get his horse guy a deal on Shark Tank, so there is that.

I'm dead serious... you guys watch those shows? I assume Family Guy still has a viable audience, but I don't know a single person who gives a **** about American Dad or Cleveland.
Liquid Wrench

The Cleveland show was cancelled in 2013. It's been a long time since anyone talked about it, aside from Cartoon Network syndication.
Family Guy was cancelled at least once early on.

And I think Seth has probably made a ton of money for Fox over the years. Without him and the Simpsons, Fox is mainly known for shows that lasted one season or less.

Ha, well I get your statement now. And yeah, Seth MacFarlane has definitely earned Fox a lot of money over the years, so it makes sense that they've hitched their wagon to him.

I haven't paid attention to him or network tv in a while. I assumed all those shows were still on... I also struggle with Seth MacFarlane. I know that he is a genuinely really funny and intelligent guy, and I find myself laughing at him a lot... But I just cant stand him for a variety of reasons.

I didn't want to even watch this show, but I'm really intrigued now reading this thread. As much as I hate to admit it, he probably created something right up my alley. But it's not like he'd be the first person I dislike personally but enjoy their work.
