How is it different than buying tickets for any other film you'd want to get good seats for? I also wouldn't call this one a kids movie (which is another animation discussion I won't get into), it's got a lot more appeal to a broad audience.

It's definitely a crowded box office in December, but I do think this will outperform the estimates.

It's a cartoon. It will be viewed as a kids movie until advertising or word of mouth says otherwise. I don't think most families buy tickets to kids movies early, because kids movies aren't about getting good seats. They are about killing a couple hours and getting away from your in-laws over the holidays.

Word of mouth like all the reviews calling it the best superhero film of the year?

I also buy tickets early for everything, especially when taking kids, no reason to wait in line when you don't have to.

That's fair.

I still think it out preforms expectations because people will be waiting for actual word of mouth (ie, "oh yeah, little billy begged me to take him to that and it was awesome, you guys should take the whole family " )

If I had to guess which Christmas movie will underperform I'd go with Aquaman. It's got a lot of baggage to overcome, and the other offerings seem more family friendly for multiple viewings.

Great sequence from early in the film:

Spidey and Aquaman are my main movies for December since we don't have a Star Wars film. Haven't seen any of the transformer movies since the old trilogy

I initially was turned off from this movie since it is an animated movie but, after trailers and Fig96's comments, I'm getting more and more pumped as this movie approaches.

I can't wait to take my kid to go see this.

You'll be happy to know that I bought tickets for me and the kids today so a could get good seats and not stand in line.

Cool read on some of the tech and look development behind the film:

Hope folks check and stay after the credits. I didn't know much about Miles before this one and really enjoyed it. My 12 year old also thought it was great and made a comment about how good the music was (songs and score) and said she already wants to go see it again.

That...was...incredible.

I cannot put into words just how good this movie was. If this movie loses the Oscar to the Incredibles 2, it will be a great injustice. This could easily be Marvel's first Oscar winning movie.

It is that good. Seriously. I am just speechless. Tomorrow I can hopefully collect my thoughts on it.

See...this...movie.

This is spot on... I am absolutely blown away as I sit in the post credits. Most amazing and enjoyable movie experience I've had in as long as I can remember.

Wow...

Damn! You guys have me pumped. Heading back to Texas in the morning for the holiday, and wanted to squeeze in If Beale Street Could Talk tonight before I left (good, not great), since it won't be playing back home, so I skipped out on seeing this tonight, but now I need to try and see it ASAP this weekend. Can't wait.

I am telling you man... for everyone who complains that Hollywood is out of ideas and unoriginal... for everyone tired of super hero movies or thinks they are formulaic...

See. This. Movie.

It is incredible. I've never seen anything like it... The art and design is the most gorgeous thing I think I've ever seen on screen. The music is amazing. It's absolutely hilarious, heart-warming, clever, flat-out-cool, and simply, the most unique film you will see all year.

If this isn't a unanimous selection at least for Best Animated Picture, then the Oscars will officially be over. This is why you go to the movies.

Full body chills throughout the movie! That might be the most visually stunning movie of the year. EASILY best animated movie of the year! Most definitely in my top 5 for the year.

The after-credits sequence is, hands down, one of the funniest ever.

The entire theater was rolling. It was pure Lord/Miller. It would be a crime for me to even hint at it. It must be experienced.

It was ****ing hilarious... even if you aren't familiar with it. If you are, then it's that much better.

Wow, hyperbole much?

I honestly have zero interest in watching this, but now I'm considering it based on these reviews.

Does it have anything to do with the MCU or is completely unrelated to it?

You unabashedly love Star Wars, Marvel, the DCEU, and all things Disney, but you have "zero interest" in seeing this??? Not knocking you at all, it's just that this has to be one of the most baffling posts I've ever seen on this board. I would have thought for sure you'd be all over this.

Says the guy who is fanboying over a Transformers movie.

I'm a fan of comic book movies, but just not animated ones. Not a fan, what can I tell you.

This is truly a comic book movie, in that it's supposed to feel like a comic book come to life. And the story feels like a short limited-series comic where the writer can literally do whatever they want because.....alternate dimensions.

There is no connection to the MCU in this (or even the Marvel/Sony movie Homecoming). However, there are several tongue-in-cheek references to the Tobey Maguire movies.

Oh, and I was surprised to see that the Miles Morales-Universe Peter Parker (the one who dies) was voiced by Chris Pine.

One of the voices was very didtinct and familiar, but I couldn't place it. Saw who it was in the credits and said out loud "well I'll be damned." Really solid voice talent all around.
