i thought it was interesting that Alexi is not familiar with the winter soldier at all. I wonder what the extent of his strength is? Weird that they would let him rot in prison instead of utilizing him, especially since he had drank the soviet kool-aid so well.

I love Florence Pugh. I've thought she was going to be a star ever since the first time I saw her.

Lol. Okay, Redstone.

Watching the movie, I kept thinking she gets hotter as the movie goes on I'd never heard of her.

Looked her up she's like 25 and her boyfriend is 46!!!!!
Probably because she was around 5-6 at the beginning of the movie. Weirdo.

Also, why did he think he's fought Captain America?

I interpreted that as him relaying a fantasy he had. Did he talk about it as if it actually happened?

He says they fought, which could be a lie, but then he asked Nat if Cap ever talked about him. He thinks they have met or at least know each other, it seems.

Well, that's odd since CA was on ice whole time RG was free.

maybe this is an alternate timeline easter egg/foreshadowing? or a time travel captain america with the new cap?

he apparently was known well-enough in Russia to have an action figure. I think the claim he made in prison was a lie. I think the part where he asks Nat, was just hoping that Cap had heard of him.

Right, which that big Russian said in the prison. I posted about it on the other Black Widow thread.

Time travel with Cap in the past is an interesting theory, but I got the impression Steve went back and tried to lay low. Plus, this movie is in the "prime" timeline before they learn to time travel (or need to).

Didn't realize there are two Black Widow threads and I guess this one is more official.

I might be in the minority here, but I'd put this movie in my bottom tier of mcu movies. I thought it was boring, predictable, and even a little cheesy at times.

Could it have been Isaiah Bradley?

Movie was decent but I'm going to explain the greatest part of the experience. While I was in the hallway about to go in there's a guy with either his date or just girlfriend about to go into a different movie, that I won't name. This is their exact conversation.

Her: So it's about cars?
Him: Well the first couple were, but they're about a lot more than that now.
Her: audible sigh and eye roll
That is awesome and perfectly sums up that entire series

I don't know the exact timeline, but I think he was probably in jail or hiding in the 80s.

He was definitely lying. That is completely in-character with his narcissism and nostalgia for his glory days.

Yeah, wouldn't be Isaiah - he was a Cap experimentee from ~1950 to 1980, then escaped and laid low.

Even if they somehow fought in ~1980, I don't think he'd say "Yeah, I fought Captain America." No uniform, never had the official title, nobody really knew he existed and he was believed to be dead when he escaped.

The storytelling has got to be BS, but I think Alexei genuinely thinks of Cap as a rival / competitor and wants to know if Steve ever talked about him.

Does anyone know if there's any truth to the fact that they shot an alternate ending for black widow?

I thought it was ok. There was nothing terrible, but it didn't quite land as well as marvel movies usually do with me. A lot more ridiculous action, and I was a bit disappointed Red Guardian never got to really do anything significant with his super strength in a fight.

Did anyone else feel Black Widow was more graphically violent than most Marvel movies? Like seeing the broken hand in prison and quite a bit of blood. Am I forgetting that that's the norm?
Thanks and gig'em

Broken wrist guy is going to be the mutant Ursa Major in future MCU

So he thinks. I think it's just an Easter egg of a mutant so that technically makes him the first mutant we know of.

But more likely, we'll never see him again!

Took me three viewings to get through. Wasn't bad, just kind of bland, relatively speaking, and utterly inconsequential. Why they decided they needed this movie, and released it *after* the conclusion of Endgame, is beyond me. But even if it had come out in the proper order, it'd still be bottom tier MCU for me. It just had such a cheap look and feel, not even on par with the Disney+ shows, it was weirdly cheesy at times, as already mentioned, and there's no way I watch a single minute of it ever again. Seeing it in the wake of the Loki finale didn't help either, as that episode is quickly becoming one of my all-time favorite things in the MCU.

Was it written/conceptualized due to the reaction to BW's death in Endgame, or was planned well before that as a way to give her her own movie?

Filming began at the end of May 2019, about a month after the release of Endgame, and ended October 2019.

There had been talk of a solo Black Widow movie for a few years. Then the #MeToo movement in late 2017 is what finally jump started the project. It was a direct reaction to that. But by the time they hired a writer in 2018, it was already set in stone that Black Widow would die in Endgame, and they couldn't make it in time to release it between Infinity War and Endgame (second half of 2018/first half of 2019) so they just shrugged their shoulders and set it for May 2020, a year after Endgame.

C'mon, I'm sorry but there is no way Black Widow is below ANY of the Falcon and Winter Soldier episodes. Every one of those was a letdown and the villians completely laughable and uninteresting.

I'm not talking about the writing/characters. I specifically said "look and feel." BW had this weird, digital look in terms of cinematography, the sets felt cheaper than usual, and a number of the effects were straight up bad. Both WandaVision and especially Loki absolutely looked better than this did. Falcon and the Winter Soldier did too at times, though it looked worse at others. That one was admittedly all over the place.

I was unimpressed with scenes focusing on anything flying the plane, helicopter, and the falling red room with subsequent battle.
