Took me three viewings to get through. Wasn't bad, just kind of bland, relatively speaking, and utterly inconsequential. Why they decided they needed this movie, and released it *after* the conclusion of Endgame, is beyond me. But even if it had come out in the proper order, it'd still be bottom tier MCU for me. It just had such a cheap look and feel, not even on par with the Disney+ shows, it was weirdly cheesy at times, as already mentioned, and there's no way I watch a single minute of it ever again. Seeing it in the wake of the Loki finale didn't help either, as that episode is quickly becoming one of my all-time favorite things in the MCU.
I think it was very much them giving into the calls for Widow to have her own movie, combined with the need to introduce a replacement in Yelena.
Personally, I thought it was fine. In particular absolutely loved Yelena (particularly how she made fun of the pose) and Red Guardian, and really hope to see more of them in the future (I know we get Yelena, but really hoping for more RG). The action was good, though even my wife, who loves mindless action, was saying "come on" to some of the parts of the climax where she fell long distances and just kind of kept going.
I think it would also be interesting if this new iteration of Taskmaster does become more of a mercenary like in the comics, even with her mind back. I think it could still fit with this new backstory and kind of helps establish someone who escapes from experimentation like that (in the same vein as Natasha, Yelena, Wanda, etc.) without becoming a hero. Adds a bit more of an edge, I'd say.
