I was also glad to see that the Red Room program in Russia had such strong diversity protocols in place
Just not strong enough to keep your floating terror city in the air.

Maybe if they actually hired some men.

i liked the movie a lot...just a couple of quick thoughts:
1. Pugh is an absolute tour de force. i hope they have bigger plans for her character because it is going to be very tough to make Yelena a secondary/supporting type character.
2. Harbour was great. marvel continues to nail its casting choices.
3. i was disappointed in the way they used Taskmaster. the comics version is way cooler and given the MCU's past "villain problem", i think they missed out on this one.
Haven't seen the movie, but just listened to the cover and found it a great big bag of meh. Maybe it's better in the context of the film.Electrical_Ag said:YouBet said:

I thought the movie was awesome, but that part pretty lame.

Movie was decent but I'm going to explain the greatest part of the experience. While I was in the hallway about to go in there's a guy with either his date or just girlfriend about to go into a different movie, that I won't name. This is their exact conversation.
Her: So it's about cars?
Him: Well the first couple were, but they're about a lot more than that now.
Her: audible sigh and eye roll

That relationship ended last night.
I think this movie serves as an introduction for Yelena. It was nice to see an origin story for Black Widow, but she's gone in the new phase. I agree that it's a weird movie for phase four if Yelena doesn't become a bigger character.YouBet said:Good point. I wonder if they felt like they needed a swan song for her character.Bruce Almighty said:
I thought it was good, but I think all the Marvel movies (except Hulk) have been good. I do think its in the bottom half, probably bottom third, but my biggest problem with the movie has nothing to do with the quality, but if feels lost in time.
It's the first movie of phase four yet it takes place during phase three. Endgame was the final chapter of the Infinity saga, Homecoming was the epilogue and this was supposed to be the beginning of a new story, yet here we are, stuck in a place we've been before. There's no advancement of the MCU story, its not really an origin story or prequel to anything, so the whole thing feels kinda pointless. If this came out between Civil War and Black Panther, I think I would I would have enjoyed it more.
Endgame was on tv when I got back from watching BW in the theater. having seen everything to-date, i firmly believe Marvel screwed up (at least story-wise) by not releasing this BW film sometime after Civil War but before Infinity War. there were undoubtedly practical concerns (like shooting schedules and casting) to doing so, but i think the overall story (especially the Vormir scene in Endgame) would have been even better if the audience had seen BW first.Gigem314 said:
Thought it was a lot fun.
Sure, there are some plot holes, but this is one I didn't think too deeply about. I just wanted a fun ride, and BW delivered.
Solid casting, like others have said I hope we see Pugh in a more prominent role with future MCU films. She was great.
The humor was perfect. Just enough for the tone of the film, but kept it from being too serious. I haven't laughed that much in an MCU film since Ragnarok. Harbour as Red Guardian was everything I hoped for.
Honestly, I think it's a disappointment that BW didn't get the first 'stand-alone' female MCU film, because I think her storyline and character is way better than Captain Marvel. But at least they've now given BW a fitting send-off.
i bet she got furious pretty fast and walked out...YouBet said:Lol.Max Power said:

I thought about that as well but when you see the Red Room as agents all over the world, they kind of had to do that. And really, who ever expects the woman to be the assassin. It's kind of a perfect cover for the Red Room sleeper agents.Sex Panther said:

Watching the movie, I kept thinking she gets hotter as the movie goes on I'd never heard of her.
Looked her up she's like 25 and her boyfriend is 46!!!!!
And she has been since 2019, and living with him throughout the quarantine. You can often hear the disbelief in Donald Faison's voice when Braff talks about her on the Scrubs Podcast lol. And her brother played Trystane Martell (briefly) on Game of Thrones.fig96 said:To add a bit of context, she's dating Zach Braff.AMW2010 said:Sex Panther said:jeffk said:Sex Panther said:

I enjoyed it and thought it was a lot of fun throughout but man was I disappointed with Taskmasker. I was hoping Taskmasker would be a wise cracking bad ass. It seemed weird to have a 40 year old actress play a character that is like 20 maybe. I think the movie takes place in 2016? and Black Widow thought she killed the little girl in the explosion a few years earlier. The math didnt add up for me. Other than that it was enjoyable.
