Could that possibly have been Dina lurking inside the dining hall in S1E6?
EXACTLY my thought

Same. That was a cool Easter egg

Good episode and necessary slow burn for story building. Before watching my buddy and I were revisitng LoU 2 on PS4 tonight. Discovered an easter egg that has to do with my second favorite band of all time.

After that an ad popped up for me on IG that is Joel/Pedro's actual jacket worn in this series. $298. Can't figure out if I want to buy it to wear once a year in Texas weather or just frame it.

It's been a while since I played the game but I remember the fight at the campus being a much bigger to-do. But I think the show has scaled down a number of engagements from the game and I don't think that's a terrible thing in terms of presenting a more realistic/less gamified take on the story.

Great episode, loved the native couple at the beginning. Next week should be great - both from an episode standpoint and a drama standpoint as joker is alluding.
That was something mentioned by the producers, about the gmaeplay vs. show. Since you are controlling the narrative in the game with gameplay (stalking/stealth or run n gun) there is more long paed action sequences that don't translate well to a show that you are just watching. stay true to source material but make it an enjoyable viewing experience.

This scene (game and show) gets me every time.

Dina easter egg was great!
Shimmer (as a colt) easter egg was great too!

Putting this question under spoilers:

Not sure how I feel about Tommy and a co-lead. After Joel's golfing accident in season 2, does Tommy have enough screen presence to carry? Tommy plays vital roles in TLOU2 popping in and out in key times.

I can't get over how great the aesthetics for this show are, it's so close to the game in some points that it's unreal. Next episode is going to cover the only part of the game I haven't played, the Left Behind DLC. I'm aware of it but my game didn't come with it and I never bought it, just went straight into TLOU part 2 once I was done with part 1. This show continues to impress me on so many levels, it's so well done.

So is it this for the remainder of S1?

7: Left Behind
8: David

Realistically, I cannot see how Joel would live in such a situation. Even if he can get back up on the horse, it's still a 5 day horse march back to the socialist utopia. And one can assume that the college has been raided for all of it's medical supplies over the years. Yet I know he will live, as the show would suck without him.

Looks right. In the previews for 7 last night, I think we will get more of Ellie's backstory than what was in the DLC. Looks like it will cover the limited comic book series, too

Also loved how Tommy and Joel were talking about shooting infected from a half mile away. Nice reference to the TLOU2 flashback where Tommy is teaching Ellie to do exactly that

Agreed. That is going to be very entertaining

Interested to see how they handle this. If they go too hardcore like TWD did with Negan (which I thought was great btw), they will alienate half the audience and lose them. If they don't go hard enough, they'll be called cowards but people will still watch.

That is cool to see the how they mostly matched that conversation from the game. For those that played the game, how many conversation scenes in the show are shot opposite of how it looks in the game (like this scene were Joel and Ellie are swapped in the blocking)? Seems like I have seen this a few times in the side by side comparisons

My favorite part about the speculations of what is to come (and a telling point of aTm's worldview) is that in all of his wildest ideas about what may happen, Ellie embracing her inner badass is nowhere to be found. It isn't like they have been dropping hints throughout the show about how hardened Ellie has become, like how she had already killed before meeting Joel and how she was the one who didn't break down emotionally after burying the kid.

I give her killing a bunch of cannibals a 75% chance of raising "this is ridiculous, a teenage girl could never!" compaints

Ellie hardening and Joel softening is like one of the OBVIOUS pillars of the story. Since Ep1.

Have we seen Troy Baker yet? He is supposedly playing a military grunt. I don't recall seeing him earlier this season.

Maybe in the Ellie flashbacks next epi.

Met Troy Baker once a few years ago. He was as high as a kite lol

I met him and Nolan North a couple years ago at emerald city Comic-Con. Troy Baker was definitely the charismatic theater kid and got people pumped up when he arrived. One of those guys that was just happy to be there

haven't rewatched the episode yet....but by chance was it him playing the masked guy who confronts joel and ellie and gets the dog to check both of them?

if that wasn't him then he's definitely playing a military guy in the last epsiode who will end up getting killed by pedro-joel when he goes into beast mode

Troy Baker is listed for episode 8, so maybe one of the cannibals

I think I remember who that is….

Is it Davids buddy that's with him when he reveals to Ellie that they've been looking for them?

If not then I'm hoping he's one of the guys Pedro will kill for information on where Ellie is.

I haven't played the game but based on the overall plot summary I read, he is in David's group and gets killed by Ellie

question for us here....cause it's been discussed A TON on the other thread and not quite as much here....but we are now 6 episodes in to this thing

What's y'alls opinion of Ellie? At the beginning I wasn't 100% sure but overall thought she was pretty good.....now after this most recent episode i think she's pretty much nailing it especially with the pivotal conversation between her and joel towards the end about joel dumping her with tommy.....

the only complaint is she doesn't look like the version of Ellie from the game and while i thought that'd be distracting im used to it now....

curious to hear what other gamers here think of her now that were through 6 episodes.....and bare in mind this could change a lot since episode 7 is clearly gonna be the DLC episode and very Ellie centric....

I'm having a hard time fully enjoying the TV character. Even with the lines that are word for word from the game...I think it is just how AJ delivered them in tone in the game that came off a bit more sweet/innocent in part 1. TV Ellie seems more hardened and abrasive.

While I have enjoyed this interpretation of Ellie, I do agree that it is pretty different. It almost seems like a caricature of Ellie, with the teenager sarcasm and abrasiveness amplified. Just different. Could have been better, could have been worse. Still good.

I thought her reaction to Henry's death was absolutely jaw-dropping and one of the better acting moments of the series.

Based on how Ellie has grown up, it makes sense to me that she's a little more gruff/disenfranchised in the show. I think she and Pedro have better chemistry now than they did at the beginning. She's doing a great job IMO. She's able to convey that a lot of her toughness is posturing as well IMO, she's protecting herself, which she has to.

While I believe she's a good match for Ellie in season 1, I don't know that I can see her as Ellie in season 2 right now. Ellie in the second game is much more physical and able to handle herself with weapons and hand to hand combat, she's very athletic. Bella Ramsey would have to do a lot of training to get into shape to be able to pull off that version of Ellie.
