That trailer made me a lot more nostalgic and interested in it although I don't have HBOMax so it's sort of a moot point other than YouTube bits.
I've heard Paul Rudd tell two stories on different podcasts about not being so well received on the set by some people so maybe that's why he's not a part of it, but that's incredibly myopic - he married Phoebe - he's literally the 7th friend.
Like most guys, I enjoyed Chandler and Joey the most when the show was initially on. In hindsight, I think Cox and Schwimmer did the best acting jobs, two social misfits as teenagers really trying to hold on to these much cooler people they have found. And they had a great dynamic as brother and sister. Loved Eilliot Gould as their dad too.

I've been trying to come up with another example of a sitcom where nobody stands out at the "main" character. Every other sitcom I can think of, there's the 1-2 lead/breakout characters, and then the rest of the cast who's just along for the ride.Aust Ag said:

Ross and Monica's mom (Christina Pickles) was just perfect too...they absolutely nailed that "family" dynamic with their casting.

IIRC, the only reason all the "Friends" were paid the same in the later years is because they all banded together and demanded that none of the six would make more or less than another.

I think I disagree with this. But the reason that happened is because Schwimmer and Aniston realized that the show had no main character by that point. I think you're right that some characters were meant to be support characters, but by season 2 it was clear they were all equally important.
So it took me years and years to realize that the cast is listed alphabetically in the opening credits. I always just assumed the women were first in a nod to girl power or something.

Wife and I are 41, and lived in tx a few decades and co now for 8 years, so two completely different sets of friends between the two cities. Call it 12-15 couples that we know pretty well and talk to regularly. 1 person in the group, many times both, know friends and can quote or remember lines we quote.YouBet said:

2 years ago, we got new neighbors and became good friends, and we find out the girl wasn't a friends watcher, and knows nothing about the show. First time we've met someone like this lol.
It's just weird we made it this far in life, and for the first time found this friend that doesn't know friends.
She's a bit younger, 37, but not too young to have just completely missed it. I baffles me there is a woman that was out of HS for at least a couple years while friends was active, and didn't watch friends. I thought it was a rite of passage for a young adult woman to watch that show while it was on.

Always appreciated they banded together the way they did. You can tell they all truly like and care for one another, which is one of the reasons the show was so successful. They all truly had chemistry and always worked together, no matter how much they mixed and matched.
It seems to me that Chandler and Rachel weren't in scenes with just each other, very much. However, the ones they were matched together were fantastic.
