Unlike BB, Survivor actually incentivizes players to make moves and build their own resume, so I doubt any all black alliance will go all the way. Someone is always at the bottom and unlike BB, these players don't sound content to finish 4th.

This season of Survivor was filed in April and May, so BB would be the copycats.

I like this season so far. My only problem is that it was actually better to LOSE that last challenge than to win it, because of the hourglass thing. That seems to go against the spirit of the game. Especially when Jeff was encouraging them to dig deep and go all out.

Giving Erika all that power guarantees she can't win.

I think I agree with that. That's a switcheroo that only hurts the victors and helps the losers, assuming someone is salty enough to flip the script.

I saw an interview with Jeff where he said they all went back and forth on it, because not everyone will smash the hourglass. If it was Deshaun and Danny, for example, who drew grey rocks - either one of them may have chosen not to break it because they might feel good enough about their standing. But since it's Erika, I expect it to get smashed.

Is everyone buying Danny was a walk on a LSU?

I don't like that someone can straight up steal someone else's idol either, just by saying they want it. What if the person says no? I know the show has to change things up and evolve (which they've been great at), but this seasons seems a bit too much.

So will each person that gets sent to Exile Island have an opportunity to change the game? If so that definitely will change the tactics of who gets sent out there.

If Erika doesn't do the flip then she is dumb and deserves to get sent home.

Been watching with my daughter for the first time this year. She is young but is liking talking about strategy. It was great stopping the DVR before they decided on Nasseer vs. Erika and reasoning out that they know they can control Nasseer's vote by continuing to make him think he's part of the Bro Alliance, and that is literally what it looked like when he got picked. Do Danny and the other guy know he has the idol? I guess they do from his odd speech at the previous challenge.

I also dont like the steal an idol thing. I wouldn't mind if it was only steal the advantage, like the extra vote, but the idols should be sacred. Although I guess if it comes around that the person knows you have the ability to steal their idol, they could move it to an ally that night and make you pick the wrong person to steal it from. Pretty convoluted, but most people are so terrible at keeping secrets out there.

I think Danny has been loafing it a little to keep himself from looking like the unstoppable force that needs to be voted off pronto. We'll see how he does now that it's individual.

Agreed, if Erika doesn't flip the game she's the biggest idiot alive. All you can focus on now is the next 3 days. If you can guarantee yourself making it past that, you have to do it.

We watched a hell of a ton seasons over the last year and a half and we lost interest with the newer seasons. I know they're trying to reinvent the game, but some of it seems trying too hard.

I know the thought is Erika is going to be in trouble no matter what decision she makes. I was listening to a RHAP podcast with Rick Devens and he brought up a good strategy on how Erika can explain her decision. She can say she's Luvu strong and the best chance to keep all of them around is for the other group to go to tribal since their group is in the majority. I think that's her best chance at this point to buy her a couple more days on the island.

Really smart move, although it came incredibly close to getting Evvie voted out anyway. I really wish they weren't allowed to do all the crowding and whispering at tribal. It's almost pointless to have your schemes at camp, because everything goes topsy-turvy once you are at tribal.

Would be great to have someone, maybe wearing the immunity necklace, loudly repeat every conversation they can hear out loud during that part of the scramble.

I'm anti-whisper but that was still one hell of a tribal. Even down to the last vote, and Xander thought he'd misled Tiff. Awesome stuff.

Xander is a slick man.

Seems pretty clear that Xander, Evvie, and Tiffany are likely now on the bottom. If I were them I'd try to go recruit Heather, the girl who got exiled and broke the hourglass, and Naseer to try to even it up. It didn't seem the others were including Heather or that other girl in any of their scheming before tribal and I think they almost had Naseer convinced that Deshawn was targeting him earlier in the game.

I'm definitely anti-whisper. By the time you get to tribal, everything should be out in the open. If you don't want to say something, keep your mouth shut. If your plan gets upended, that's a you problem.

And I still don't know who half these people are. Throw in all the immunities and advantages/disadvantages, I don't have a damn clue as to what is going on.

Extra respect to Xander for telling Danny about the steal advantage - Day 2 of the all-Black alliance and Danny finds out she's keeping something from the rest of them.

Xander is definitely a lot sharper than his laid back surfer persona gives off. The girl who went home deserved it based on her 11th hour "I don't know what we're doing, tell me what to do" speech at camp.

The girl who was sent off was the only semi-pretty girl left. But I think it was obvious nobody liked her. Prolly the most plain looking cast ever.

The black girl got caught in a lie to Evvie and can't be trusted. Funny how these all girl or all black alliances break up with hurt feelings.

I too hate the tribal whispers and further meetings - seems like Proust loves them. You knew it was going to happen when they did the immunity challenge first then went to Tribal halfway thru the show. Why even play the games if it doesn't start until Tribal?

And with all the idols and advantages flying around - including flipping the status quo, a lot more luck and vagueness is in the mix this year.

Interesting but overall crappy.

Definitely agree, the scene where they told her seemed out of order of events, or she's an idiot.

Apparently she's only 21, which might explain some things. She fell for that big time. But also - even if she was playing chess on it and thought Evvie had it - you'd be an idiot to use it on Evvie when Xander is holding a necklace and instructions right in front of you. And even then, 4D chess because Tiffany had it. Great presentation all around.

But she acknowledged in one of her confessionals that everyone knew about her advantage now. Maybe seeing Xander at tribal with the necklace cleared up all doubt..?

The thing about the tribal scrambling is that you sorta have to show your cards and who you've been aligning with. If you thought you were tight with one group and suddenly they're talking to other people at tribal...that could bring up future trust issues and change your game.
