maybe it's because i played the first three in college and a bit after, but i don't have a die hard fandom, so it was fine. same for witcher. read a couple books. played a little of witcher 3, but don't know the whole mythos.
i liked both adaptations. i know enough to know where they veered, but not well enough to be angry
now Wheel of Time on the other hand, i have full knowledge of and full fandom of and Amazon can GSTDIAB over what they did to that adaptation..
I enjoyed the first episode. I haven't played Halo in 10ish years and was never into it more than playing halo, halo 2 and halo 3. It was good, it wasn't great but maybe that is because my expectations were pretty low going in.

Draco Malfoy is a Covenant leader somehow. Lmao they kept nothing from the games. This cemented that I am never watching this trash.
My 12 year old son, whom plays athe games and reads the books, had a great take on the TV show. He said "Dad, it's like Star Wars legends or the MCU multiverse; it's Halo, but a different timeline."

Second episode is out and it's like the last 40 minutes of the first. Disappointed. Nobody is watching Halo for an hour of space politics. I can watch Star Trek or Picard if I wanted that
Also, this episode had nudity for anybody watching with their 12 yo son.

I think I'm done with this one unless I hear it has turned around. The action scenes were awesome. I wish they had just followed the original game storyline. That show would have been awesome.
I remember when I first saw ST:TNG and was appalled that a Klingon was in Star Fleet. I got over it pretty quickly and enjoyed the series.

I mean I am still watching but it's not like they made the Elites the wrong color or had the Prophets walking around on legs....they fundamentally changed the entire story and characters. They used the names and likenesses from the game that's it. A better analogy would be taking the Harry Potter characters and locations and dropping them in a interstellar war instead of being wizards.RAT90 said:

I considered getting paramount+ for this. So glad I didn't.
Did enjoy this episode and the beginning of Chief and Cortana. Didn't care for everything else.
I don't know anything about Halo other than playing the games back in the early 2000s, mostly multiplayer or fire fight.
Through 2 episodes, I am on the fence. I am intrigued enough with the artifact to keep watching if they give me hints about it every episode.

I know nothing about the halo franchise, but saw a trailer on a YouTube ad I couldn't skip the other day. Looks horrible. It was not engaging nor intriguing to draw me in to siphon off my precious time.

This episode was a little better than the last one but I don't know how long Paramount thinks that the audience is going to sit around letting master chief explore his feelings.

I'm enjoying the show. Probably easier to do since I never played the game. I appreciate the difficulty of converting a first person shooter to a series.
Never played the games and know nothing of the mythology. I'm digging it. It feels like these episodes are moving chess pieces and setting up the back story and world building for the war/action to come.
A lot of the sets, scenery, background look gorgeous and futuristic. The acting isn't too bad, some characters are interesting, there is a storyline of sorts, and well, that's about it.
I feel like it's trying to do too much, too many moving parts. It should have been more like Dune(yes I know it's a movie), where they slow down, class it up, and focus on the main plot, whatever it is, along with giving us great scores and cinematography. Halo lore is surprisingly deep, interesting, and solemn. It's not really getting the respect it deserves here, but oh well it's still Halo, I guess.
Anyway, the main protagonist is clearly 117 unlike the early worries here, the one clearly stupid decision is the human antagonist, who gives a **** about the background or race of the actors since the plot is the only thing that matters.... of which is just extremely mediocre, but not disastrous.
I played the first game when it came out and it was fun. Don't know much about it other than that.
Got through the first episode even though felt it was pretty meh. Started the second, made it 20 minutes but I'm done. This is not a good show in any way, imo. Writing is bad, production quality isn't good either, and the acting is atrocious. No thanks.

I've never played the games, nor know anything about them.
Through 3 episodes, I'm not finding much that interests me. I'm going to keep watching, since I'm a sucker for most sci fi, and hope that by the end of the first season it hooks me.

whoever greenlit 3 straight episodes without an ounce of MC being MC needs to be removed from decision making.
