It got weirdly huge on tiktok/instagram reels like a year ago so the commercial is trying to cash in on that. I only know that because my wife would scroll through those things non-stop and I kept hearing the song and asked her why is that 90's one hit wonder constantly coming out of your phone.

You are not necessarily wrong. While it was released in 1988, it actually did not chart in the US until 1993, when it got all the way up to #3. I think it must have shown up in a movie or something to make it popular around that time.

So I guess you could still technically call it a 90's hit.

Agree

That Bringing Down the Horse album was a phenomenal album.

May not have got as much radio play and some of the typical accolades but I consider that one of the most underrated albums of the 90s.

I still regularly play it from beginning to end

Almost every band/person mentioned on this thread has had multiple songs chart. Snow has had three. When I said Toadies only had one song chart, I'm talking about overall top 100.

There needs to be a definition as to what defines a hit because if you are counting any song that charts on any chart type, then almost every one hit wonder has more than one hit. I know the Toadies have a cult following, especially in Texas, but from a national perspective, they are a one hit wonder.

Same applies for bands like Fountains of Wayne.

By almost any metric, they're a one hit wonder, and easily the best of the 00's, btw.

Cowboy Mouth -- Jenny Says

They played in College Station, and opened with Jenny Says. Then midway through the set they played it again. Then they closed with it. Then they came out for an encore and played it again. I guess they knew what people came to hear.

I can't think of the Toadies as a one hit wonder. They literally had 4 songs from Rubberneck that heard on the radio constantly, throughout high school.
