I regret that I have but one blue star to give.

Kitty had a nice arc of being Sprite and the junior member of the team who was sent back to the minors (New Mutants) then eventually became a full X-men member as Shadowcat and eventually a teacher. Though when she beat Sabretooth was a bit too much.

Do we need to make a separate thread for MCU Mutants for all our speculations, rumors, and news?

Also, give Brie L another chance. She was delightful in Community

I say just move it to the main thread. Or, keep it in the one, since the show's over. Either way, all indications point to Marvel making some pretty big announcements next weekend at Comic-Con, one or two of which could be X-Men related, and it's all just going to blend together in the MCU/the other thread anyway.

Her Nissan commercials aren't terrible either.

Short Term 12 was pretty good.

She also held her own in Scott Pilgrim

And she was pretty good as the teenage daughter in the United States of Tara.

So basically she just sucked as Captain Marvel

I honestly think a decision was made in regards to Captain Marvel having her emotions locked down by the Kree that I think kneecapped the character.

I think her with Monica and Kamala will really open up her character.

Possible. But then towards the end of the movie she was clearly "opening up" and... it just didn't feel very natural.

I think it was more a cruddy movie where lots of bad decisions were made and it came out a weird mess. Like I talk about this a lot, but she can't even run without looking weird. And they killed Mathesar, By Grabthar's hammer.

The creators did want her to be a mutant originally

Ugh! Stupid D+ and their auto-advance! I can't see the mid-credit scenes.
redline248

Just manually fast forward from somewhere.

Also, what device or OS are you using for D+. I have never had it auto advance
TCTTS

Same. On Apple TV at least, Disney+ doesn't ever auto-advance for me to the next episode. Either way, it's super easy to go back.

As a matter of fact, it is quite annoying to me that I have to go to the end of all the foreign credits before it gives an option for next episode

Yeah, so I finally saw the in-credit scene and I'm not exactly sure what I saw....... did they swap places somehow or what?

my fiance absolutely lost his absolute **** on me when I said she was first Xman in mcu now. like got actually mad.

It was astonishing. I didn't know that was a factor that would get him so riled up. his annoyance was a force to be reckoned with.

I don't personally have a problem with her being a mutant, but I can understand people being passionate about the concept of the X-men in the MCU in whatever forms that may look like. The X-men are like their own individual brand/universe within Marvel. I grew up reading and loving Marvel, but 90% of that was X-men. I would trade the whole MCU for a properly realized X-men cinematic universe without even having to think about it. So if someone is particular about what the X-men should look like, I get it.
MooreTrucker

There are lots of mutants in the X universe that are not Xmen. This could lead to the idea of mutants that would lead to the Xmen without her being a member of the Xmen.
jeffk

Yeah, I think a lot of fans are misconstuing "first mutant" with "first X-man." Just because she's the first to be mentioned in the MCU as being a mutant doesn't necessarily mean there aren't tons of others out there currently or even that the X-men in some familiar form also exist.

At the same time, there are characters in the comics who are mutants but were created and exist outside of X-men (for example, Namor), so it's not like being one is some holy status even in the source material

I agree with you, but to be fair Namor being a mutant was retconned after the X-men were introduced in 1963. I'm also not sure he's technically a mutant even though Marvel considers him one. He's not a member of homo sapiens superior, since he is Atlantean rather than human. He's more of a human/Atlantean/mutant hybrid.

The real question, which was raised way back, is how to do Magneto in the MCU? Can't be a Holocaust survivor, anymore, imo. Is there another central background theme among other characters that would be hard to keep?

If I understand Magneto's motivations properly, as a Holocaust survivor he was a persecuted Jew as a child, and because he was already persecuted once before in his life for being different, he didn't trust man later in his life to not treat him the same way for being a Mutant, correct? If so, I don't know that it has to be an event as world-changing and as horrible as the Holocaust, he just needs to have been treated horribly as a child for being different in some way that had nothing to do with being a Mutant. I mean, only because it would line up timeline-wise, they could make Magneto black, and he could have grown up during the Civil Rights movement, but that feels a little too on-the-nose. Or, maybe he was a gay teen in, say, the '60s, never came out, but saw another gay man or friend get his ass kicked after being caught with a man? Something along those lines? I don't know. Whatever it is, I'm sure it'll piss off a certain crowd here, but my point being, there seem to be some options to play with.

Yeah, there are sadly dozens of genocidal events that have taken place since the Holocaust that they could use instead.

If Ms Marvel is the start of mutants in the MCU, can we get Rogue to go ahead and put Captain Marvel in a coma in The Marvels?

Just finished. Story was meh, action meh, no real villain but despite some cheesiness it was really a heartwarming series particularly her interactions with mom and dad. Would be really interesting to see her character grow in the future.
