The real question, which was raised way back, is how to do Magneto in the MCU? Can't be a Holocaust survivor, anymore, imo. Is there another central background theme among other characters that would be hard to keep?
If I understand Magneto's motivations properly, as a Holocaust survivor he was a persecuted Jew as a child, and because he was already persecuted once before in his life for being different, he didn't trust man later in his life to not treat him the same way for being a Mutant, correct? If so, I don't know that it has to be an event as world-changing and as horrible as the Holocaust, he just needs to have been treated horribly as a child for being different in some way that had nothing to do with being a Mutant. I mean, only because it would line up timeline-wise, they could make Magneto black, and he could have grown up during the Civil Rights movement, but that feels a little too on-the-nose. Or, maybe he was a gay teen in, say, the '60s, never came out, but saw another gay man or friend get his ass kicked after being caught with a man? Something along those lines? I don't know. Whatever it is, I'm sure it'll piss off a certain crowd here, but my point being, there seem to be some options to play with.
