Agreed. Even if some of the other symbolism or Easter Eggs are real, doesn't mean there's new stuff. It could just be out there to create interpretations of the ending. Also, seriously doubt they would have people paying to go to a theater for a fake finale. That doesn't make sense. The ending wraps it up. People that didn't like it are coping or people want more and trying to convince themselves.

The only show I know that pulled this sort of heist off was Bluey with an episode literally called "Surprise!" after their first 27-minute episode to end the show's third season.
Can one of you help an old out and give me a quick summary of conformity gate? I just spent 10 minutes on Twitter following tags and I have no idea. Is the entire epilogue supposed to simply be an illusion, and Vecna is still controlling it?
Did the Escape the Dark Stranger Things at the Dallas Netflix House yesterday with my youngest and had more fun that I was expecting....

I saw one Pic and it was about the way everyone sat at graduation. Which is how anyone sits at any graduation, so to me it's just a bunch of BS. Seemed more like people over analyzing something and forcing an agenda.
My basic understanding is that people think there are hidden clues / easter eggs in the final episode which point to Vecna having "won" and is controlling the main character's minds.
Off the top of my head I think the clues are different colored wheel at radio station, all students sitting like vecna at graduation, different colored gowns at graduation (not correct school colors).
I don't really understand why everyone thinks a new episode will be released today - but it is an intriguing idea.

One thing I have learned over the last couple of weeks is that younger stranger things fans are absolutely psychotic, obsessive and protective over the characters of the show. I think I shared one ST tweet somewhere and they have been popping up on my TL since and the people are absolutely obsessed in a very unhealthy way about this show.
Last episode was better than I was expecting given the moaning I saw online.
The absolute worst part of the whole episode was the Jonathan, Steven, Nancy, Robbin reunion atop the station. Good lord everything about that dialogue and "acting" was absolutely god awful.
Started out as a pretty epic show. Ended on an average note which always makes it feel worse when the high level had been set.

That was my reaction. There would be no group that large in 1987 where at LEAST one person would NOT have been fine with it.
They treated it like it was 2015.
I say that because in 2025 Will would have "come out" at age 3.
On the other hand, I wouldn't be willing to say anything with his mom right there. she's crazy and has an axe.

It's been a solid series, but absolutely nothing the show has done points to a secret final episode with clues spread throughout the previous episodes that turns everything on it's head.

I was annoyed with the conclusion of Dustin's Valedictorian speech where he basically says "F you" to the "system" and flips off the principal. It was juvenile pandering that had nothing to do with the entire series or any of the experiences of the main characters. Am I forgetting an episode where the kids were being oppressed by teachers or school admins? When did Dustin have a hard time in school? The only teacher with a modestly significant role, their science teacher, helped the kids many times throughout the series, even joining them to defeat Vecna. It was so stupid and completely out of bounds with all the episodes that preceded it.
All the kids had good relationships with their parents, too. It was just one big WTF?

If this is a fake episode, then it was created by Vecna and influenced by Eddie, not the real Dustin

I think it was homage to Eddie - Eddie told the Hellfire kids he was going to flip off the principal and grab his diploma and run away when he finally graduated.
Granted, I rolled my eyes at Eddie when he said it because it was such "ooh what a rebel" bluster but Dustin was pretty clearly calling back to that.

I did not realize she was 23. My first thought was "that's insane"...but then I quickly remembered it was generally pretty common to see people in their 20's play HS aged kids in the 80's and 90's.

Will is openly gay and headed for San Fran most likely...the friends are shunning a popular graduation party to do what they love (play D&D)...nancy dropped out of school and is pursuing her passions etc etc. To me, the point almost seemed to be to show how they are NOT conforming?

I felt the same way...then I thought about it and realized it was probably a tribute to Eddie who lived his life that way but was an amazing person in the areas that mattered. These kids have also seen enugh crazy sh** to realize high school graduation speeches and so many things we place high value on, are basically worthless. I would imagine the curtain is lifted to a certain degree, after going through what they went through, and you realize a lot of things are just a facade.
But i wish it had been done differently...was super cringey and a turn off. Bad execution imo.

People think there's a secret 9th episode that Netflix is dropping tomorrow based on a lot of clues - some sort of interesting, some just knucklehead Internet stuff. The Duffers are apparently announcing something tomorrow, most assume it's the prequel that involves the events of the play that led to young Henry braining the Russian scientist that we see in the last couple of episodes.

Vickie and Suzy disappearing....Suzy disappeared well before the epilogue. I can't even remember the last time Dustin mentioned her, but it was well before this season even started.
As for them all looking like Mr. Wheeler...why would Vecna have any interest in making them all look like Mr. Wheeler? For what purpose?

Season 4 dragged on and on and was the point it became obvious they didn't have enough to truly fill both seasons 4 and 5.
