3 hours is a long damn time for a movie....I remember almost pissing my pants during the last Avatar...too many beers, too many water scenes....

As I get older I really wouldn't mind an intermission in these longer movies. Theaters would probably like it as well as it gives people an opportunity to go buy more overpriced food/drink.

I wonder if this would be worth seeing in a 4dx with. Can I get tire burnout smells, haptic seats, and wind blowing in my face?

I was thinking about this but 3 hours of bouncing around is probably a bit much....

Yes. Due to the testing limits, teams have to use cars 2+ years old for any extra curricular activities.

Went to see this tonight. The power flickered due to a storm right before the movie. It reset the projector or some BS. 30 minutes after the scheduled start time they announced that they were on the phone with IMAX trying to get the projector up and running. After another 30 minutes they said the projector was likely down for the rest of the day. Gave us refunds, but we were still super bummed.

The racing scenes totally spoil you. Unreal and amazing. So much of that you start taking it for granted. Upon reflection, incredible. Best racing scenes of all time. Our whole family liked the film a lot.

This is like a 90's movie in all the best ways.

Great score. Great cast. Feels real, not CGI world. Emotional stakes. Simple story. Great characters.

Kosinski can make whatever he wants and I'll show up.

Saw it last night and really enjoyed it.

The movie was long but it never dragged.

And I didn't realize it until afterwards but there wasn't any woke DEI crap in the movie which is shocking after the past few years of Hollywood.

They used quite a few British actors that you might recognize and we did have to endure a trailer for Downton Abbey before the show LOL.

There were more exotic locations than a James Bond movie but nothing felt cheesy or CGI, or super fake.

This is the first movie in a while that I'd like to see a couple more times in the theater so I can capture a few more of the details. There's a lot in there.

and a cameo by my man crush Guenther Steiner

Cleopatra and Doctor Zhivago as well.

I thought this was an interesting movie by Pitt. I have no idea what he's like in real life, but it almost feels like he wasn't even acting in this. Like he was playing an extension of his real self. He seemed very comfortable in this role.

The Hateful Eight had one a few years ago. I was a big fan of it, but that movie was insanely long

Awesome movie. One of Zimmer's best soundtracks. See it on IMAX if you can.

For those who have seen it:

Did anyone notice in an early scene, Pitt sticks his face in a sink full of ice water, does a fancy shuffle of his deck of cards and removes his watch (Rolex?) before he heads to the track? Has to be an homage to Paul Newman, don't you think?

Just got back from seeing it w/ my son. It's a good film and shot very well. It requires a suspension of disbelief from anyone that knows much about Formula 1, but that didn't take away from my enjoyment. I did like seeing the actual F1 drivers, team principles, and media personalities in the film. I could have done w/out the line from Toto Wolf at the end though.

Of the three F1 films to date I still think Rush is a best, especially since it is a true story (albeit w/ some dramatic license). I would put this movie above Grand Prix though. That film bores me to death.

It's an IWC he helped design based on an older IWC that has been on the shelf for a while. You'll notice one of their team sponsors is IWC.

Thought it was great. You could tell Hamilton really had a lot of influence - not only in some of the music but also with some of the strategy plot points, etc where they had to draw that line between realism and Hollywood. Of course it had a lot of unrealistic racing stuff in it, but not nearly to the point of those silly stunts from mission impossible, etc.

It was overall really well done.

a lot of Bollywood movies have an intermission.

From memory, I think Gettysburg had an intermission. That was over 30 years ago.

It was a vintage IWC watch, he actually says no to Rolex in the film, when Shea Whigham tries to give him on for winning Daytona

Absolutely loved it.

It was tracking at $45M this weekend, so I wasn't expecting a full house at the Chinese Theaters IMAX, but strong word of mouth is doing wonders, it's now looking to massively over perform at as a high as $60M this weekend, and our showing was completely sold out. Which might as well have been a sporting event in and of itself, considering how much the crowd cheered throughout.

Sure, the script is nothing special and could have used a little more work, but the whole experience is so damn visceral that it doesn't matter. The crowd loved it, everyone in our group loved it, and I'm going to recommend it to everyone I can.

veryfuller mentioned above that it's like a '90s movie in all the best ways, which was my biggest takeaway as well. God, I missed that classic Bruckheimer/Zimmer vibe, something we used to get what felt like every year in the '90s and '00s, and boy does this deliver on that front. In fact, I've already downloaded Zimmer's score and am going to be listening to it all week. I might even see the movie again with the family when I'm home this week for the holiday, if they haven't already gone without me. I don't remember a single cuss word, there's next to no sexuality, and I think even my eleven-year-old nephews will love/be able to see it, which I wasn't expecting at all.

Man, what a fun summer at the movies so far, especially these past of couple of weeks, and it's not even July yet.

Ok, F1 fan here. We have a group that watches every race together - we actually will make food and drink from the host country. Todays race is Austria, so we're having goulash, some kind of potato dish, and sachertorte (Austrian chocolate cake).

Our whole group went to the movie last night to watch together. The visuals were outstanding. I had high expectations from Kosinski and the Top Gun equipment, and the movie absolutely delivered - the work done on presentation of race weekends was great. The grid, the crowd, the announcers, all fantastic. Using the actual races to film was brilliant. There were a couple times where I recognized moments from the real race and that took me out of it, but normal moviegoers would have no idea. It was clear that they had mounted cameras on the real cars during real races, and made the story work around what happened in real life. That led to amazing footage.

Now, the bad…… The plot was beyond awful. I know - "it's a race / action movie - who cares?" Still, they had so many things they could have gone with, but they decided on bringing back a 60 year old driver who hasn't raced F1 in 30 years. Let's put that in NFL terms, pretending that this was the first football movie made in decades. Todd Marinovich was drafted in 1991 and was a huge flop. He is currently 55 years old (six years younger than Pitt). Pretend that the Raiders were in dead last in the NFL, sitting with a record of 0-12. The starting QB gets hurt and after going through options, the Raiders end up bringing in 55 year old Marinovich… and he leads them to win a playoff game. As an NFL fan, you might be excited to FINALLY see a movie about football, but you could still be annoyed of their plot decisions.

I won't go too deep into it, because I know it's not breaking any new ground, but the women in our group were very upset with the choices made there. It feels like this movie intentionally tried to set women in the sport back 20 years.

Overall, I am very happy to see a movie about F1 become so big. I wish they would have done some things different, but ultimately it was great to see the work they put into capturing the racing and I hope this brings some new fans to the sport.

Yeah, I do not understand the woman complaint at all. My wife actually liked what they did there for following reasons:

1. She was age appropriate for Brad Pitt.
2. She was smarter than her peers while acknowledging a tougher path to the top without overly whining about it.
3. She was a team builder bringing together two stubborn Alpha males.

In what world, was this setting women back?
